Sarah and Vera were surprised to hear the news that the officer had just delivered.

"Has Mr. Montgomery really forgiven us?" asked Sarah with an expectant face.

The officer glanced at them with a harsh look, "Yes, he forgave you. But, don't try to do this again. If not, you could end up in jail for real!"

The officer's words made Sarah and Vera feel scared. They both felt as if there was a huge weight on their hearts.

"But why did he suddenly forgive us?" asked Sarah again, trying to find an explanation. Because, this sounded a bit impossible since they were so angry before.

"Suddenly forgive you?" The officer mocked in a sarcastic tone, making Sarah and Vera even more frightened. "If it wasn't for the owner of Golden Street requesting that you be released, of course Mr. Montgomery wouldn't have released you!" the officer continued.

"What?" Sarah was shocked. "You mean it wasn't Daniel Withman who did it?"

The officer was angry. "What do you mean by asking about Daniel Withman?"
