William was shocked. He stared at Vera wide-eyed, unable to believe what he had just heard. He never thought that Vera would actually like him.

After the shock wore off, William felt happy.

"I'm sorry, Ver, that I couldn't dare to approach you. I thought... I wasn't your equal back then."

Vera shook her head at William's confession. "Since when did I judge someone by their social status?"

William knew that because Vera was very kind, it was impossible for her to judge someone by their social status. However, considering that there were many men who approached Vera, it was quite surprising that she said she liked William.
