William was Defamed

William was startled by Evan's explanation. His eyes rounded, his lips parted slightly and his breathing stopped for a moment. He felt like he was in a dream, or rather a very strange dream.

Evan saw William's reaction and tried to reassure him that this was not a dream. "This is nothing," he said. "Your grandfather has a lot more money than you think," Evan continued, trying to give an idea of the incredible wealth Lucas Anderson had.

Hearing this explanation made William even more surprised. He swallowed hard as he tried to compose himself.

"Oh yes, my Lord, you're leaving, aren't you?" asked Evan later, reminding him of their original purpose for meeting in that place.

"Yes," William replied briefly.

"Then take the car with me," Evan invited as he opened the car door for William.

The car looked so nice and comfortable. A Lamborghini Veneno Roadster with a luxurious interior and a powerful engine, who wouldn't want to ride in it? William also wanted to. But for now he didn't want to make his wealth look conspicuous.

"No, I'll ride a bike," William politely declined. Although Evan's offer was tempting, he chose to stick with his old bicycle.

Evan was surprised by the rejection. "Why do you want to ride a bicycle?" he asked puzzled.

William just smiled and replied, "Because I've been traveling by bike." He felt more comfortable and free when cycling. Besides, cycling could also be a way for him to hide his newfound wealth from the public.

"Oh come on, my Lord. You can leave it here, your men will take care of it," Evan said trying to convince William. He pointed to the old bicycle that William had been using to get to Star D, his business meeting place later. The old bike looked a stark contrast to William's current life.

"No need," William refused again. "I'll ride this bike." His eyes looked at the old bicycle with pride and nostalgia. For him, the bicycle was not only a means of transportation, but also a symbol of his life journey. "For the time being, I still want to look like ordinary William."

Evan hesitantly tried to convince his young master. "The Star D office is quite far away, sir." He tried to give another reason for William to accept his offer. However, the answer only made William even more convinced to set off on his bicycle.

"Then I have to hurry so I won't be late," he said as he prepared to leave.

Hearing this answer made Evan nod and finally give in to William's decision. "Then I'll keep an eye on you," he said as a form of compromise between his desire to maintain the safety of the heir to the great treasure and William's desire to remain modest and inconspicuous.

"Don't be conspicuous. I don't want my college friends to know that Lucas Anderson is my grandfather," William ordered. He didn't want his life to change drastically just because of his new status as heir to his grandfather's estate.

Evan nodded in understanding and replied briefly, "Okay. "After that, Evan got into L's car and prepared himself to watch William's journey from a distance.

Meanwhile, William continued his journey on his beloved old bicycle. Not long after they parted ways, Rudy, William's college classmate, saw them. He felt there was something strange about the situation. The clueless man just watched William who was seriously talking to Evan.

Rudy, who saw the situation from a distance, felt that something was wrong. He then took a picture of William and Evan from a distance with his cell phone. In his mind came an idea to create a sensational story. He then spread the slander that William was chased by debt collectors in the middle of the street and surrounded to be beaten up.

'I have a hot story, here!

'Just talk!" another friend said.

'William was chased by debt collectors in the middle of the street and surrounded to be beaten up!'

'What?' The reply message from the group.

'Seriously?

'Yes, I'm serious. Just look at the photo I sent you!'

The news quickly spread in their major group. Rudy's message became a hot topic of conversation and caused quite a stir. He did arrive a little late to the party. However, once he arrived he already had some very surprising news.

Jordan was the one who laughed the loudest at the gathering. He couldn't imagine how William was doing.

"I guess he borrowed money to be able to give Vera a present!" Jordan exclaimed.

Merida smiled with a smile. It was a shame that Willaim was in debt to be charged like that. Fortunately, they had already broken up.

Vera was the only one who was sad to hear that. She immediately called William to make sure he was okay. Unfortunately, William, who was on his way, couldn't pick up the phone.

"Vera, it's okay." Sarah held her cousin's shoulder. "I don't think William will pick up the phone because he's currently dealing with debt collectors."

Vera didn't care. She was still trying to reach William.

They were still talking about William, rolling out all sorts of speculations and slanders that spread like a snowball. The atmosphere became increasingly heated and filled with negative emotions. Harsh words, accusations, and prejudices colored their conversation.

"Shut up!" said Vera, unable to stand their babbling. "You can't insult William!"

Merida, William's ex-girlfriend who was also known to be a drama-filled person, approached Vera after hearing her defense. She said, "Vera, you need to open your eyes. William is not a good person for you to be with, I just chose to break up with him."

Vera didn't care what Merida said. For her, whatever background or problems William had, it didn't change the fact that he was a good person. There was no way he would steal or have huge debts that needed to be collected.

"You're wrong Merida," Vera replied, looking at Merida closely. "I know William better than anyone here and I'm sure he wouldn't do such a terrible thing."

"You'd better stay away from him. I'm sure he's stealing, you'll get caught," said Sarah, who was drawn into the conversation because Vera was so stubborn.

Vera had mixed feelings about the accusations. Her heart throbbed loudly and her mind became frantic. Is it true that William went into debt to give her a gift? The question kept circling in her head and made her feel uneasy.
