Delusion

The air crackled with a tension thicker than the plush carpets beneath our feet. Zephyr's words hung heavy, a discordant note in the already chaotic symphony of my emotions. Denial battled with a truth that resonated deep within, a truth I desperately wanted to refute.

Tears welled up in my eyes, blurring the sharp lines of her face. "Maybe it started that way," I choked out, my voice raw with a vulnerability I hated to expose. "Maybe at first, I saw you as the villain, the puppet master controlling everything from the shadows."

A flicker of surprise crossed her features, quickly replaced by a guarded curiosity. "And then?" she prompted, her voice softer than I expected.

Taking a shaky breath, I pushed forward. "And then… things changed. We talked, strategized, and fought side-by-side. I saw your passion, your vision for the city. Maybe a twisted one, but a vision nonetheless. And somewhere along the way…" My voice trailed off, the confession a bitter pill on my tongue.
