A knock on the door shattered the charged silence, a welcome interruption to the swirl of emotions Maya's words had stirred. Relief washed over me as I hurried to answer, the melody of the evening taking a sharp turn towards familiar comfort.

"Curry!" I exclaimed, throwing the door open to reveal my friend's familiar grin. "Finally made it, man. Traffic?"

He chuckled, stepping into the opulent apartment and taking in the scene. "Traffic wasn't bad, but finding parking in this part of town? That's another story." His gaze landed on Maya, who was perched on the couch, a playful glint in her eyes. "Maya! Looking good."
