“Wait, you know him?” Nathan asked surprisingly.

Selene quickly lowered her head and bit her lips.

“You broke up with me to date this poor rat? Do you even know who he is? He’s an orphan and a brokie. He has no penny and he’s a nobody! I’m fucking sure he has been lying to you just as he lied that he wanted to donate back in school! He’s just a brokie!”

Nathan was disappointed, sad and mad. He didn’t know what to feel especially seeing that his ex-girlfriend, Amanda joined in the insult.

Turning to Selene, he asked the question. “You know him?” He asked her calmly.

“Shut the fuck up and leave this place! You don’t belong here. Look at your clothes and shoes! I don’t even know who let you in here!” Dave roared.

Selene's eyes darted nervously between Nathan and Dave, clearly uncomfortable with the sudden tension. She shifted uneasily on her feet, unsure of how to handle the situation.

Nathan's expression hardened, his disappointment palpable as he processed Amanda's presen

“Excuse me?” Nathan began, having a calm, unbothered look on his face. He was angry to an extent. “I said you ain’t welcomed here. This is no place for kids and brokies. There are more important people who needs to occupy your space. So, move out, boy!” A man in his late thirties barked at Nathan. The man was obviously just a personal bodyguard of one of the attendees. But Nathan simply ignored him and continued watching the pretty lady as she exhibited her sneakers. He was really drawn to her work of art that he decided to buy it when it would be bid. Nathan has spent many years of his life wearing worn out shoes. He never had the chance to wear a good shoe like the one that lady was displaying. Now that he was rich beyond imagination, he would love to have that kind of shoe on his feet or just as a work of a talented artist in his home. Nathan recalled his billion dollar Reed apartment where he found out that he was a wealthy heir. In that house, there were countless piece

Nathan sighed, trying to wrap his head around everything that has been happening in his life lately. He hasn’t been there for his friends since he discovered his newfound wealth. He has been too busy getting his new self to sync with and upgrade the old Nathan. “Look, guys. It’s um.. it’s nothing much. After what Amanda did to me, all I want to do is just stay away from everyone. My life’s fucked up man. I just wanna clear my head!” Nathan feigned pity. He was right, but only to an extent. He for many reasons decided to keep his wealth to himself for the meantime. He hated attention and fame. But soon, Amanda, David, Luxton University and the whole world will know who he truly is! As soon as he arrived in class, he went straight to his seat to avoid everyone. He wasn’t scared of them, at least not anymore. He just wanted to live his life in peace. After what happened that day, he felt a bit off looking at his classmates in their faces. He had no energy for unnecessary stress. “Hey church rat! Nice clothes. Bet you usedYour donation to get yourself new clothes!” Someone suddenly spoke from the back. Oh, not again. Nathan sighed and facepalmed. But he was relaxed and didn’t panic like before. He simply closed his eyes as he was already tired from yesterday’s event. He didn’t want to entertain more stress. All he wanted was to attend lectures and return home. After contemplating for a while back at home, Nathan really wanted to simply put on his old outfit. The urge to wear the new clothes he bought was not there. Again, he knew it would bring attention to himself. Either negatively or positively. But he went ahead to wear it. And he was right. “He’s

“You are all aware that every year, we host a prestigious inter-university event to promote collaboration and unity among students. This year, I'm thrilled to announce that our university has been selected to organise the event. It's a significant opportunity for us to showcase our talents, network with students from other institutions, and contribute to a noble cause." The class erupted in excited murmurs, eager to learn more about the upcoming event. Their excitement was basically derived from knowing that whenever these events were hosted, they would get to meet and connect with students from various schools and most importantly, they would get to showcase their wealth to over 5000+ students. Professor Dylan continued, "The theme of this year's event will be ‘Empowering Orphans, Building Dreams.' We'll be hosting a charity gala where proceeds will go towards funding educational initiatives for underprivileged children in our different orphanages." “For many years now, the NECA

“What we’re you thinking, Fred? Do you want everyone to know who I am? Why didn’t you inform me before your arrival?” Nathan barked at Fredrick as they discussed in a secluded area of the school where no one would see them. “My sincere apologies, young master!” Fred bowed his head. “We were only here concerning the charity gala! Being your assistant for the time being, I had to be present. Miss Kamsi was here to represent you.” Fred explained and Nathan calmed down. Besides, no one knew they were connected. “Young master, I overheard the mockery concerning the birthday of Amanda. Why would you let them mock you? We own 60% shares in Mr. Lynch’s company. Just say the word and we will buy back all shares and his business will crumble till it’s out of existence!” Fred enamored. He knew that Nathan was down to earth and did not crave attention. Yet, this was beyond mockery. This was an insult to the Reed empire, and everyone who laughed at him must pay dearly. “Dear Fredrick. Le

Nathan turned around and behind him was a lady. A pretty lady. Her appearance was wonderful even in the dimly lit dining room. She wore a uniform. A soft grey T-Shirt complimented by a 3-quarter black cotton skirt, and above her neatly tailored dress, she wore an apron. This could only mean one thing. She was a worker here. Perhaps a bartender or a waitress. So how on Earth did she get his contact? For as long as he could recall, he had not given his number to any soul aside from a few of his course mates. But this lady looked very familiar to Nathan. Nathan strained his eyes as he tried to recollect the details about the lady’s face as it was very familiar. He had seen her somewhere. Was it her enchanting smile? Her humble composure? “Oh, hi, Miss. Do I know you?” Nathan asked mildly. Immediately she went on her knees and began to thank Nathan with so much enthusiasm and gratitude that some people began poke nosing. “I’m Abigail Foster. I am the artist who created the

“And who are you, young man? How did you get in here and who offered you a seat here?” The manager turned his rage to Nathan who was now standing and commanding respect. Nathan didn’t say a word in return. He simply dipped his hand in his pocket, took his wallet and showed the man his Diamond membership card. “I don’t believe you! You stole that card. Or it’s fake!” The man resisted and before Nathan could blink twice, the man stretched out and snatched the Diamond card from Nathan’s hand and without examining it properly, he broke the card in half. Nathan sighed. He was boiling with rage at this point because even after showing the Diamond card to this mad dog, he still didn’t believe him. But he remained calm and let the storm pass by. Silence, they say, is the best answer given to a fool. “You are a thief! You dare challenge me? So you think you can come here and show off what you don’t have? “You are fired, Draco. Come over to my office after this and claim your sack letter.” The man spoke rashly. Mr. Fernando was a well built man. He was feared by all his workers, young and old. He was known to be a no nonsense man. He even made sure he tolerated no malarkey garbage from his own daughter, Selene. The only people who Mr. Fernando paid his utmost respect to were his clients, customers and his superiors. So, seeing Mr. Fernando dash out of his office in such heat of anger made everyone wonder if truly Nathan was an elite player afterall. “Boss, with all due respect, you have been fooled. This man here is nothing but a scam and a fraud. He stole our membership card and eats our luxurious meals. He should be put in prison!” Draco tried to defend his pride, not wanting to be embarrassed by a ‘commoner’. But his words only angered Mr. Fernando more. “How dare you! Alex matched her glare, his heart pounding in his chest. “You’ve burned every bridge you’ve crossed, Mom. You’ve turned everyone into enemies, and now you’re obsessed with a man who doesn’t even exist anymore. Nathan Reed is dead. Dead. We killed him, remember? So why the hell are you still acting like he’s haunting us?” “Because he is!” Cozbi snapped, her voice rising. Her calm facade shattered, revealing the raw fury beneath. “Nathan Reed may be dead, but his ghost is everywhere. In every deal that slips through our fingers, in every ally who hesitates to trust us, in every whisper of Mr. Frost’s name. You think this is over? You think we’ve won? We’ve won nothing, Alex. Nothing! And if you don’t wake up and see that, you’ll lose everything.” Alex staggered back as if her words had physically struck him. He shook his head, a bitter laugh escaping his lips. “No, Mom. You’ll lose everything. Because you can’t let go of your paranoia long enough to see what’s right in front of you.

You can’t just keep obsessing over him like this. It’s… unhealthy.” Cozbi let out a bitter laugh, sharp and cutting. She swiveled in her chair, finally meeting Alex’s eyes. “Unhealthy?” she repeated, her tone dripping with disdain. “You think I’m doing this for my health, Alex? No. I’m doing this for you. For us. So that the Reed name means something more than failure and wasted potential!” Alex crossed his arms, his posture defensive. “I didn’t ask for this, Mom. She was supposed to be at the top of the food chain, the one in control of all the wealth in the world. But no, Alex was not the one in whose name the project fell under, but he fucked up big time. He was commissioned to handle a big part of the project and messed it up. He was kicked out of the entire project like a mother kicking her 45-year-old son out of the house for being a liability. It irked and disgusted her. First, she had to deal with the motherfucker, Nathan. Her stepson whom she detested with an unhealthy amount of passion. She defeated him and took everything she believed to be rightfully hers. Now, Nathan and his fucking sist

Clara felt a lump in her throat, unsure if it was from relief or fear. “I just… I don’t want you to get hurt because of me.” Frost gave her a sidelong glance, his tone light but with an edge of determination. “I’ve been hurt worse, trust me. And I’ve survived. Broderick isn’t the storm, Clara. He’s just a cloud. He doesn’t know it yet, but the real storm’s already here.” Clara’s mind raced with thoughts and emotions swirling like a storm. She wanted to ask more, to dig deeper into Frost's past, but something held her back. There was a gravity in his demeanor, a sense that his scars were his own to bear, and prying too much would only push him further away. The car turned onto a quiet, tree-lined road, the city’s lights fading behind them. Clara could feel the tension easing slightly, though her heart still pounded with residual fear. She looked at Frost again, her voice trembling. "Frost... why are you helping me? You barely know me." He glanced at her, his expression softening f

  • CHAPTER 382

The car ride was smooth and queer. They drove past the street lights as they illuminated on Mr. Frost’s car. Clara placed her head on the window to absorb everything that had happened that day. She took a moment to ponder over just how close she was to losing her life. She was this close, as a pin next to an inflated balloon. Then, she tilted her head to Frost. She did not know what to say, how to react, or even what to think. Was she falling for him or was her soft heart melting away, replacing her brain? She couldn’t tell. But one thing was sure; the man driving the car; the man who fought for her at her workplace came out of thin air and saved her life. The future was bleak and Clara did not know who this Frost guy was or what power he possessed, but she was truly scared. She had seen Brod at his most ruthless state. Brod plays with humans’ body parts for fun. He was not so far from being a carnivore. What he would do to her and Frost was unclear, a dream she would never want

The truck, top-heavy with crates of eggs, tipped dangerously as Nathan fought to regain control. His heart pounded in his chest, the steering wheel jerking under his grip. But it was no use—he couldn’t stop it. The truck skidded, flipped over the embankment, and tumbled into the ditch below. Nathan lay there, trapped in the cab, his head throbbing from the impact. The sound of eggs smashing and metal groaning filled his ears, but over it all, he could hear Broderick’s cruel laughter. The rich boy stood at the edge of the embankment, looking down at Nathan with a smug smile on his face. "Ere now, Nathan! You're a right ol' nobody! Just a bleedin' charity case, ya 'ear me? You'll never be part of our set, old chap. You're just a poor, unwashed urchin, not worthy of polishing our silverware. Do accept your station in life, Nathan, and don't bother trying to rise above your betters. You'll always be a lowlife, Nathan, so get used to it, ya wretched little blighter!” Broderick sneered b

Mr. Frost’s lips curled into a cold smile. “You’re right. I don’t. And I don’t need to. But you know exactly who you’ve messed with tonight.” He tilted the chainsaw ever so slightly closer, making Brod flinch. “Now, crawl away like the worm you are. And remember—this is your one and only warning.” Brod scrambled to his feet, his bravado utterly crushed. He hobbled away, muttering curses under his breath but never daring to look back. The crowd parted, some recording on their phones, others cheering softly. Clara’s heart thundered in her chest as she watched him disappear into the darkness. Mr. Frost turned to her, his expression softening ever so slightly. He offered her a hand, and for a moment, she hesitated. But as her trembling fingers met his, she felt a strange sense of safety. “Are you alright?” he asked, his voice gentle now, a stark contrast to the steel in it moments ago. Clara nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. “I—I think so. Thank you.” He studied her momentar

Brod chuckled nervously, trying to mask his growing unease. “Do you know who I am? Do you know what I can do to you? You’re just some fool with a car and a bad attitude.” Mr. Frost took another step forward, his dark coat billowing slightly in the evening breeze. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small device. “No. I do not know who you are and I do not care. You also do not know who I am. If you did, you would shrink into a withered dick like the one inside your pants!” Those words angered Brod, hurting him deeply. He had never been spoken to in that manner. So, he left his victim alone and ran towards the man threatening him. He was going to teach him a lesson: rabbits do not play rough with snakes. As soon as he was close enough, Brod reached out to dice his head, but Mr. Frost quickly dodged it, and then he smashed Brod on the leg, sending him to the ground. With that one little, insignificant kick, Broderick sprawled to the ground, bursting into a sudden scream wh

Clara hid, making sure she did not make a sound or he would destroy her life finally. “Asshole! Where are you? Come out now or I’ll slice your throat when I see you!!” He screamed, holding a knife in his hand. He was really not bluffing. Slicing people's throats was not a new thing to him. He had done so much more. He had been arrested over and over again. But his rich dad would always bail him out. “Murder is in my blood!” He said out loud. “And you know this, yet you chose to allow another man to drive you and even have sex with you!!” He roared, scattering the room. From where she hid, Clara could only pray for her almost lifeless soul. Sex?! She barely even knew the guy, not to mention that she blatantly rejected his offer to help her. The truth is, Clara liked his personality. She couldn’t even recall his name, but he made a lasting impression on her. He literally fought for her at her workplace, something that nobody, not even her so-called boyfriend, had ever done.
