Nathan flared up. He was boiling with rage. From the records he amassed, the company made over $85 million every single month from sales and over $50 million from revenue.

Why then would paying staff their dues be an issue? Why should it be delayed?

“What is your due, woman?” Nathan asked gently, trying not to express his anger in front of his worker.

“$20,000, sir. And please, I beg of you, keep this conversation between us. If Mr. Bernard finds out I’ve spoken this way about this company, I will be kicked out for good, maybe even arrested. He is not a very pleasing man.” Emily explained.

Nathan shook his head in disbelief and dissatisfaction. He had expected more. A lot of changes would be made around here.

But one thing that kept him calm was the receptionist’s attitude. She just smiled through it all. She did not act like someone who took these matters hatefully. She was a good lady and deserved to be recognized.
