Chapter Seventy One

As the shadows lengthened and the last rays of sunlight faded behind the horizon, Alex and Sarah found themselves standing outside the imposing building once again. The air was thick with tension as they exchanged a nervous glance, steeling themselves for what lay ahead.

"You ready for this?" Alex asked, his voice betraying a hint of uncertainty.

Sarah nodded, determination shining in her eyes. "As ready as I'll ever be. We have to find out what's going on in there."

With a shared nod, they stepped forward, the heavy wooden door creaking ominously as they pushed it open. The interior of the building was dimly lit, the air heavy with dust and decay. As they ventured further inside, they couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, as if unseen eyes followed their every move.

"This place gives me the creeps," Sarah whispered, her voice barely above a murmur.

Alex nodded in agreement, his senses on high alert. "Let's split up and cover more ground. We'll meet back here in an hour, okay?"
