Chapter Sixteen

"Get me Mr. Reynolds immediately," Alex said to his secretary.

"Yes, sir," she said, before leaving to call Mr. Reynolds.

While he was waiting for her to fetch Reynolds, Alex couldn't help but hum a tune, tapping his pen in time with the rhythm of the song he was humming. He hoped he didn't have to wait too long before they got back, and he was relieved when he heard a knock on his office door, signaling their arrival.

"Come on in," Alex responded to the knock on the door. They both stepped in, and Alex gestured to an empty chair in front of his desk. And Mr. Reynolds took his seat there.

Alex couldn't help but wonder at how the roles had been reversed in just a matter of weeks, the employer now being the employee, and vice versa.

"Wages need to reflect the hard work put forth. I've been in your shoes," Alex empathetically shared with a group of workers.

One employee, Mary, nodded in agreement. "It's about time someone understands, Mr. Alex."
