Chapter 6 : Young Thugs.

This day, the laneway was so hushed. An unpleasant smell from dumb bins along the laneway invaded my nostrils. However, I had stayed in extremely shabby downtowns before and I was used to those smells.

The walls were covered with different kinds of beautiful graffiti. I liked the art, it gave the impression that you're in another colorful world.

All of the sudden, 4 skaters approached and surrounded me out of nowhere.

They all wore black leather jackets. At the back of the jackets was a skull drawing. Below the skull, the word 'MENUS'  was written in an elegant and clear font.

Two of them wore black bandanas as masks on their mouths. The other two wore red bandanas around their heads.

Two boys stood on my left and right side, one stood at my back and the other one stood in my front. They completely blocked my way.

However, I expected them. The laneway illegally belonged to a gang called 'Menus' in which these boys were members.

I initially avoided this way to prevent bumping into these young gangsters. But I got superpowers, how could I try to avoid them again?

Even though they were not my friends, I knew them since they were very popular among teenagers and young adults in the area.

Moreover, those boys had been bullied by demanding money anytime I walked along the laneway. With the lapse, we got to know each other. But not on good terms.

"Business geek, long time no see. I really missed you"

The young man who stood in my front said with a fake smile.

He was around 18 years old and his name was Dominic. I hate him to the core. He had snatched a lot of money from me. I wonder why he hadn't developed and was still bullying kids in the streets.

I merely glanced at him without uttering even a single word. In my mind, I said 'your shining time is over'

"Does that mean you were escaping from paying the trespassing fee? In that case, you gonna pay $50 instead of $10"

He continued talking in a strict, arrogant and commanding tone.

Any young person who walked down the laneway was asked to pay a trespassing fee. This caused many teenagers to avoid this shortcut and use a boring and long neighborhood main street.

"Punk, 3 of your videos on youtube have surpassed 10k views this month. That means you've bagged about $100. Just give us $50."

Another young man who half of his face covered by a black bandana mask and standing on my left-hand side, estimated my earnings as his earnings.

Youtube blogging was another business I was running. I was uploading video tutorials concerning forex trading, visual effects and CGI (computer-generated imagery).

The moment I heard their words and demands, I smirked while looking away in disgust. Obviously, it caused Dominic and the others to be displeased and they felt humiliated.

"Why are you smirking? Do you want me to break your nose again?"

Dominic had a wave of anger across his face. In the past, he often bullied me and I always cowered in fear but today the situation was completely different.

Not only that I didn't look nervous but I even smirked which was a humiliation to them.

"Calm down, I'm smirking because I heard something funny,"

I said arrogantly and I chuckled for a while.

Dominic and his underlings frowned and were surprised. I was worlds apart unlike my usual cowardly self.

"Bastard! What's funny?"

Dominic asked in a hostile tone.

"What's funny? Can't you hear that what you're saying is funny? You want me to give you $50 as a trespassing fee. Haha. Does this laneway belong to your father or what else?"

My words carried intense ridicule.

Dominic's face flushed red in anger. He pointed at me and bellowed.

"Punk! what the f*ck are you talking about? You are asking for a beating!"

"Asking for a beating? hmph! You're the one who's asking for a beating. If you need money why not come to my apartment and do some chores?"

I spat out another harsh words that were full of ridicule.

These words struck a sour note within Dominic, he became even more furious.

"F*ck! what's giving you the courage to provoke me? if are some nerd-to-hero movies, I'm sorry the reality is different. today ill beat you badly as well as take all your f*cking cash!"

Dominic shouted angrily. He was surprised by my current character.

'Why has this f*cking cool nerd changed?'

He thought.

"You'll beat me and take my cash? What a joke. That depends on whether you've what it takes. But if you're willing to find if you have what it takes, quickly come and try"

I raised my hand and curled my fingers indicating for them to approach me.

Despite being stupefied they had a strong urge to beat me badly. So that I could learn my lesson.

"Beat him!"

Dominic bellowed.

Immediately, the 3 boys approached me at full speed. Their actions were enough to tell that they were having a hard time waiting for this order.

One of my hands was gripping my backpack and only one hand was free to use.

I(spirit) departed from my body and tripped over one of the boys. He heavily fell to the ground and groaned.

I(s) returned to my body and a wicked grin was painted across my face.

(Note # s = spirit. This is to differentiate the actions carried out when in form of a body and when in form of a spirit.)

"You haven't even touched me, yet you've already started to fall. Isn't that amusing."

I said mockingly.

"Elvis, get up immediately!"

Dominic bellowed, feeling peeved.

One boy flung his fist toward me. I dogged it and punched his face at almost the same time another fist(s) landed on his face causing him to fall. I(s) stood behind myself to watch attacks coming behind after noticing someone standing there.

Indeed the boy was thrusting a dagger toward my back. I(s) moved and pulled my body, successfully dodging the attack, and immediately returned to the body to keep it steady since the pull caused me to stagger.
