Emily pushed the shopping cart through the aisles, absently tossing items into it. She clinked no jars and rustled zero packages in short nothing registered. Her mind wandered as she debated between brands of cereal or snacks or probably grab some beverages when her phone buzzed in her pocket. She frowned at the unknown number on the screen cause she doesn't normally pick unknown calls but decided to answer anyway out of curiosity and the thought that maybe it was James that was calling her for something urgent.

"Hello who's this?" she said cautiously.

The voice on the other end was low and smooth, yet unsettling. “Emily.”

Her heart skipped a beat. “Who is this?”

“Enzo Black.”

The name sent a chill through her. She’d heard of him—everyone had. A dangerous man who worked for the Tarlose family, has his own gang that carried out various dangerous tasks for him.

“What do you want?” she asked, trying to sound braver than she felt although deep down she was literally scared and her mind wa

Her hands shook as she tried to call James again. But in her haste, she accidentally dialed the previous unknown number—Enzo’s which in turn complicated the whole issue.“Ah, Emily,” came his cold, taunting voice. “I knew you’d come around you are a smart woman that's why am willing to help you find and rescue your parents.”“It was a mistake,” she snapped. “I wasn’t trying to call you, I was trying to .... before she could continue Enzo interrupted her, doesn’t matter,” Enzo said smoothly. “I’m outside the mall. If you want to help your parents, you’ll come talk to me and I mean right now else that's all .”Emily hesitated, her stomach churning. She glanced toward the store’s exit, her mind torn, she never wanted to go she was to wait for james who was already on his way, but Enzo didn't seem to give her a better choice, quite a tough dilemma.“You don’t have much time, I'll change my mind soon, I mean very soon.” Enzo added before hanging up.Outside, Emily scanned the parking lot u

Chapter 119: James’s eyes were cold as he took Emily’s wrists. She wore a face of innocent confusion at his reaction. Staring closer, she could see a tiny hint of disappointment in his eyes. Enzo’s eyes glinted with mischief at the possessive contact.“Guard her with your life, Kael,” James coldly chided, handing her over to Kael. The latter nodded sharply, taking Emily’s hand and leading her out of the tensed environment.Enzo Black’s lips pulled into a smirk. “If it isn’t the almighty lord of war,” he stated, feeling very proud that he had just figured out a top secret. James stared at him wordlessly, making him chuckle darkly. “What? Did you think I wouldn’t know? You might be able to hide it from everyone, but I have my ways.”His lips curled up in a snarl at the unfazed expression on James’s face. The latter just stared at the haughty mafia boss with a blank expression. James knew that Enzo Black was aware of his identity, so it was no news to him.Enzo ‘s eyes twitched in an

"So, when they get here, you can take Emily and get her as far away from here as possible. It'll take a while for them to get here so we can set a trap," Jessica suggested to Theo. They were in a small abandoned house in the middle of the forest deep in the countryside. Theo rubbed his chin in thoughts while staring at the plan that she had drawn on the little board in the room."How do you suggest we dig a hole in the ground for her to fall? James will always be watching her back. Why don't you distract him, and then I grab her? Besides, she could just run back anyway. It will ruin my reputation if news gets out that I captured a lady and forced her to be my wife!"Jessica rolled her eyes. "You're in love with her, aren't you?" She asked, but he shot her a pointed look. Letting out a frustrated groan, she suggested. "Alright. I guess your reputation really means so much to you.""And you too. Don't you want James to actually take you as his wife. How do you plan to do that? Force hi

Theo paced the room, his hands tucked into the pockets of his well-tailored suit. His jaw clenched as he waited for Juliet to arrive. Every second felt like an eternity, and the uncertainty of her reaction made him restless not just restless but somehow panicked too.The door creaked open, and Juliet walked in, her expression unreadable. Her sharp features were framed by her neatly tied hair, and her eyes locked onto Theo with suspicion.“You called for me?” she said, her voice tinged with annoyance ( she was literally trying to be calm and confident truth be told she was pretty scared and under pressure).“Yes,” Theo replied, gesturing toward the chair across from him. “Please, sit. We need to talk right now.”Juliet hesitated for a moment before lowering herself onto the chair, crossing her legs elegantly. “What’s this about?”Theo leaned forward, his elbows resting on his knees. “It’s about your family’s future. And mine, if things goes well you and I are gonna be very happy.”Juli

“We don’t know,” the guard said. “He just started convulsing, we tried to hold him down but it wasn't stopping had to inform you before anything goes wrong.”Jessica didn’t waste another second. She grabbed her medical bag and rushed out of the room, Theo and Juliet following closely behind. When they arrived at Steven’s room, the sight was alarming. Steven lay on the bed, his face pale and his breathing labored. The monitors beeped erratically, signaling a critical situation.Jessica immediately took charge, barking orders at the nurses who stood frozen in panic. “I need oxygen, stat! And bring me 10 milligrams of lorazepam!”The nurses scrambled to follow her commands, and Jessica worked tirelessly to stabilize Steven. Her hands moved with precision, her mind focused entirely on the task at hand.Minutes felt like hours as the tension in the room escalated. The tension in the car was thick, almost suffocating. Emily sat quietly in the back seat, staring out of the window as the city lights blurred past. Winter, seated beside her, glanced at Emily and could sense her unease. Up front, James was a stone wall of silence, his expression cold and unreadable. Kael focused on driving, his hands steady on the wheel, though his eyes darted to the rearview mirror occasionally.Winter could clearly see Emily was in despair from her blank innocent look, she pulled out her phone and typed a message to Emily:Are you okay ?, you look tensed .Emily blinked at the notification and typed back after a pause:No. This is all my fault, I let my emotions get the best of me and put everyone of you in a difficult situation I hate myself (a drop of tear fell from her eyes but she stylishly cleaned it with no one noticing).Winter frowned at her response (I knew she'll feel guilty and blame herself for everything, thank God I messaged her .. winter whispered

Emily’s heart sank. She clenched her fists, her knuckles turning white. “Jessica,” she spat, her voice trembling with anger. “She doesn’t know when to stop, does she?”James looked at her, his gaze softening slightly. “We’ll deal with her. But for now, we need to focus on getting your parents back safely, that's the top priority right now dear.”Emily’s eyes glistened, but she nodded. “I just... I just want this to end ( Emile is an easy going woman with a soft heart, she doesn't really have the stomach for much tension and trouble, all she hoped for was for all their problems to just disappear and they live a peaceful and quiet life).”“It will,” Winter said firmly, placing a reassuring hand on Emily’s shoulder. “Jessica will pay for everything she’s done and for Theo we'll deal with him too.”Kael glanced at James through the rearview mirror. “What’s the plan?”James outlined the strategy calmly, detailing every step. His voice was steady, but there was a simmering anger beneath the

The tension in the building was unbearable. The thick air was filled with anger as Enzo Black stood there without moving, his men surrounding the hostages. Theo and Jessica were in a fight, and their eyes were burning with anger. There she was in the middle of it all, trying hard to get Enzo's attention by crying so sad tears. He didn't even look at her, though. When Enzo said, "Enough," his voice was smooth but tense. He never took his eyes off of Theo and Jessica. "Let them go. Right now.”Jessica became more determined, and her speech became as harsh as steel. "Enzo, you can't tell me what to do.This is bigger than you."Enzo's lips turned into a sarcastic grin. "Bigger than I am?" There was a dangerous tone to his low laugh. "Jessica, do you agree with that?" You have to be crazy. Enzo Black is the biggest person in the world.Theo stepped forward, trying to keep up his cocky act even though things were not going well. “Enzo, you don't scare me. You think you're in charge of

The newsroom buzzed with activity as Andre’s broadcast played across every major network. He stood before a sleek backdrop bearing the Syndicate’s emblem, his posture confident and his voice smooth.“Citizens of the world,” Andre began, his tone dripping with authority, “James Radcliffe, the so-called ‘hero,’ has been lying to you. He is no savior. He is a destroyer. And I have proof.”The screen shifted to show doctored footage of James, his voice and face manipulated to make it seem like he was planning a devastating attack on Emily’s company headquarters.Andre’s voice returned, grim and commanding.“Tomorrow, this tower will burn, and it will be Radcliffe’s doing. But don’t worry—I will be there to rebuild from the ashes.”At the Radcliffe estate, James stood in front of the television, his fists clenched. The footage looped, showing his manipulated image over and over again.“Turn it off,” he said, his voice low but filled with fury.Kael, holding the remote, complied.“He’s good

The icy mountain air cut through the silence as James and his team crouched in the shadow of a jagged ridge. The weapons cache loomed in the distance—a massive steel structure carved into the mountain’s rock face, its entrance heavily guarded by Syndicate forces.James’s voice broke the tense quiet, calm but firm.“Winter, status?”Winter’s voice crackled through his earpiece.“Security systems are standard Syndicate setup. Cameras, motion detectors, and probably a few surprises inside. I can loop the cameras, but you’ll need to move fast once you’re in.”Kael adjusted his rifle.“Standard Syndicate setup means more than just guards. They’ll have traps waiting for us, too.”“They always do,” James said, his eyes scanning the facility. “We stick to the plan. Infiltrate, disable the weapons, and get out.”Emily’s voice came through the comms, steady and supportive. “Be careful, James. We don’t know what surprises Andre left behind.”James’s jaw tightened. “We’ll handle it.”The team mov

The dimly lit cell felt colder than usual as James entered, the door clanging shut behind him. Zhao sat calmly on the cot, his legs crossed, a faint smirk on his face. The bruises from his capture had faded, but his arrogance remained intact.“Ah, Radcliffe,” Zhao said, his tone light and mocking. “Come to gloat? Or are you here to entertain me with more empty threats?”James’s expression didn’t waver as he pulled a chair across the room, the sound scraping against the concrete floor. He sat down directly in front of Zhao, his gaze unflinching.“This isn’t a game, Zhao,” James said, his voice low and cold. “Andre’s making moves, and I know you’ve been in contact with him.”Zhao chuckled, leaning back against the wall. “Andre? Ambitious, isn’t he? But unpredictable. He doesn’t listen like I did.”James slammed his hand on the table, the sound reverberating through the small space. “Enough with the theatrics. What’s his plan?”Zhao tilted his head, feigning innocence. “Even if I knew, w

The compound buzzed with energy as James outlined his plan, his voice steady and commanding despite the chaos outside.“We use their aggression against them,” James said, pointing at a map of the stronghold displayed on a monitor.“Andre thinks brute force will break us, but we’ll turn this into his worst nightmare. Set up traps in these choke points, and we’ll ambush them where they least expect it.”Kael nodded, his face grim but focused. “What about their heavy hitters? The Titan’s leading their frontline. He’s not exactly easy to miss.”James looked at Kael, his tone sharp. “You’ll take him. Keep him busy, and make sure he doesn’t disrupt the traps.”Kael smirked, adjusting the strap of his rifle. “You always give me the fun jobs.”Winter’s voice came through the comms. “I’ve breached their network. I can start feeding false intel, but it’ll only buy us so much time.”James nodded. “Do it. Confusion is our best weapon right now.”Emily, standing nearby, stepped forward. “And what

The first explosion ripped through the quiet morning, sending debris raining down on the outer wall of the stronghold. The alarms blared almost instantly, red lights flashing across the compound as James and Kael sprinted toward the command center.“They’re hitting us hard,” Kael said, adjusting his rifle as they ran. “They didn’t waste any time.”“They want to overwhelm us,” James replied, his voice steady. “But they don’t know what we’re capable of.”Winter’s voice crackled through their earpieces. “Andre’s forces are coming from three directions: the north, east, and west. They’re heavily armed, and they’ve got tech we haven’t seen before. We’re deploying countermeasures, but the outer defenses won’t hold for long.”“Then we make our stand inside,” James said. “Get everyone ready.”The compound shook as another explosion rocked the north wall. Kael barked orders to a group of defenders, his voice cutting through the chaos.“Set up suppressing fire here! Cover the entrance and don’t

Zhao’s arrest is a temporary setback—but only if we act decisively.”One of the other leaders, a grizzled man named Viktor, sneered. “And what’s your plan, Velasquez? To throw more bodies at Radcliffe and hope he doesn’t kill them all?”Andre smirked. “Not hope—strategy. Radcliffe isn’t invincible. His allies are his weakness. We crush them, and he’ll crumble under the weight of his own failures.”Another leader, a sharp-eyed woman named Leona, folded her arms. “You’re suggesting an all-out assault? That’ll

His suit was wrinkled and stained from the days he’d spent in custody, but his eyes burned with defiance as he looked at James across the table.James stood with his arms crossed, his expression unreadable. “You’ve lost, Zhao. The Syndicate is crumbling. The world knows who you are, what you’ve done. It’s over.”Zhao smirked, leaning back against his chair as far as the restraints allowed. “Lost? You think locking me in a cage erases what I’ve built? My influence reaches far beyond these walls, Radcliffe. You’ve won a battle, not the war.”James’s eyes narrowed. “Then tell me about your loyalists. Who’s left? Where are they hiding?”Zhao laughed, the sound cold and sharp. “You really think I’d hand over my people? Even now, they’re working to rebuild. My Syndicate doesn’t die because you say it does.”In the adjacent room, Winter sat at a console, scanning through files pulled from Zhao’s private vault. T

It’s being framed as a celebration of your leadership during the crisis.”Emily shook her head, her smile fading slightly. “This wasn’t just my victory. It belongs to everyone who stood with me—my team, my family.”From behind her, a familiar voice chimed in. “And you better not forget us little people.”Emily turned to see Kael standing in the doorway, his signature grin in place.“Kael,” Emily said warmly. “What brings you here?
