The instant, James was able to crack open the giant steel blocking the entrance, he jumped in order to avoid any attack that might come unexpectedly.

Descending from the sky like a god about to save a little princess, his facial expression was frightening, and he landed ruthlessly on one of the guards.

The guard didn't see this coming, and his bones got shattered!

Now, it was uncertain if he would survive or end in hell.

Wei Zhao was so scared, watching this that he shuddered like sieve and turned to Victor, standing beside him.

He didn't want to believe James could be the rumoured god of war but looking at the formidable strength, and how he just manually busted a giant steel, the thought was hard to push away.

Is he really the god of war?

But isn't he just a penniless son in law, who only trained in the military for some years?

" We have to stop him at all cost. The end won't be favourable."

Victor's eyelids were unstable, but he agreed to Zhao's words.

Suddenly, a frail voice called out, although light but weak..." Daddy!" Immediately, James was charged up, his ears perking! He didn't waste a time and lifted his head, scanning the walls around. " Sarah!" His deep voice echoed out strongly like thunder rumbling the building, and he skipped away from Victor and Zhao, who was writhing on the ground. " Victor!!" Rolling on the ground, Zhao screamed and managed to stretch his hand forward, as if wanting to stop James. " Where are the men?! You better stop him now! If he gets his hand on his daughter, we are doomed, especially you! The Tarlose family will be wiped out, and you would be gone!" Victor, upon hearing this, tried to regain his composure and adjusted himself. He took out a small cloth to wipe away the beads of sweats on his forehead and quickly made a call. " Where are the men?! I want them here within minutes unless y'all want to be finished!" He threatened in an unfamiliar voice and hung up instantly, exh

After Zhao finished his order, Kyle appeared in the building, striding in as if he was ready to strike anyone that comes his way. Without saying anything, he stood by James' side and rolled his long sleeves from his hands. " Just like the old time." A playful grin tugged the corner of his lips. The trained men ordered by Zhao, didn't waste a second and attacked both Kyle and James swiftly! From their first move, it was glaring they were skilled, and this made James' gaze to narrow. Zhao was quick to caught this slight move on James' face, and he made a ludicrous laughter, clapping his hands together amusingly. " Haha! I know this will be your end! Look at you, you are even nervous about the men I just got.You are doomed! I'm sure you will beg me for mercy and roll on the ground, crying! Haha! Now, kneel on the ground and kow kow to me! Slap yourself a hundred times, then I will consider sparing you or not..." He suddenly went mad and shouted excitedly, taking James' facial move

It all seems to die down when James left the building with Sarah and Kael. The drive all the way to the secret house was rendered in silence, although president Richard wasn't with them. He had went to attend to other activities since the battle was over. Some minutes later, James and Kael arrived at the secret house, which was located almost at the outskirts of the city. Tall, large trees with their long leaves rustling as the breeze blew, stood like a guard around the secret house. They wholly casted dappled shadow on the plain but unique design of the house."Good that you are back." Jessica welcomed them as soon as they arrived, walking out to receive them. " She is just waking up," she informed James and glanced briefly at Kael. The impassive expression on James' face changed instantly when his ears perceived this. A warm look latched on his face. " Thank you Jessica," he expressed his gratitude and looked down at Sarah, who was in his arms. " I need you to check her also.

Night fell and darkness was beginning to approach the city. This was the time Sarah found herself awake in a strange but bright room. Her eyelids trembled, as she struggled to wake up. Her puny eyes roamed across the whole of the room, and she adjusted herself on the bed. Silently wondering where she was, she didn't hesitate to opened her lips and called out for her mother. "Mummy!" In that instant, the door clicked open, and a tall slender figure advanced in. " You are awake." Sarah's eyes fell on the figure who just stepped in and approached her. Her brows pulled in confusion. " Daddy?" She called out with a tone of uncertainty. James chuckled, shrugged his shoulders. " Who else?" " It's Daddy!" Her face lightened, illuminating her excitement, and she raised her eyes! Without warning, she hopped from the bed and jumped on James' arms, who caught her accurately. "It's okay, baby. You are safe now," he assured her, patting her back lovingly and promised in a serious

The room was eerily quiet and dark, only illuminated by the faint light from the moon filtering through the curtains..In there, a familiar man stood without a word, staring at the cold body of a small kid. His face was clouded with extreme dismal, emitting an unfriendly vibe, making people cautious before approaching him. " Yuchen. I never thought I will be the one to bury you." Zhao's broken voice sounded in the dark room as misery simmered in his heart. Just the sight of his dead grand son was enough to shatter the last humanity and hope in him. After enduring and trying everything possible, it all settled in vain. Reflecting on his waste efforts, resources and time, his face became more gloomy like a stormy cloud that refused to clear. Especially knowing it was all caused by that - ungrateful bastard! His palms clenched, digging his fingers into his thighs! Yuchen was the only relative left for him, his only grandson and companion. As a matter of fact, he had decided

Just as she opened the door to receive Emily, an unexpected figure blocked her view. " Emily, how........... You - useless stray dog! How dare you show your face here again ?!" Her expression twisted into an unfriendly one, and she glared at James who stood nonchalantly at the door. " Sorry to disappoint you, mum." James' voice remained steady, his face on Juliet, unwavering. " You.......... ..." Juliet felt like spitting out venom at James, and she blushed angrily! " You only disappoint yourself cause you are not welcomed here!" " What's going on, Juliet?" Steven strode towards the door, staring at Juliet curiously and wondering what was making her to lose it. Juliet turned to Steven, raising her voice , " This walking vomit is back again! I can't believe he is back! Isn't he suppose to be mourning his ........." Bang bang!" Emily! You still have the nerve to sleep by this time! The company has been acquired!" The loud noise startled Emily, who was just waking up. " What?" Rubbing her eyes, she complained, her brows knitting. " Dad?"" Do you need me to kick this door before you come to your senses?! Get up now!" Steven yelled, his voice filled with a sense of urgency. James straightened himself up and got down from the bed. " I think something is wrong," he tugged at his pants, saying, and he approached the door. Recognition dawned on Emily's face. With immediate effects, she rolled from the bed, grabbing hold of her crutches. She adjusted her sleep wear and followed James to the door. The instant the door was unlocked by James, Steven bustled in swiftly. " We have to go to the company now!" He informed impatiently, facing Emily. " There's no time at all." Standing up from her seat immediately hearing what Jasper said, Emily's face scrunched up, and her mouth twisted! " Excuse me? What was that?!" " What was what?" The drive back to the Radcliffe estate was quiet. The weight of recent events lingered in the air, but for the first time in months, there was a sense of closure.James glanced at Emily in the passenger seat, her head resting against the window as she watched the trees blur past.In the backseat, Sarah was fast asleep, her small face finally free of worry.“This feels strange,” Emily said softly, breaking the silence.James glanced at her. “What does?”“Coming home. No Syndicate. No immediate danger. Just... life waiting for us.”James nodded, his grip on the wheel tightening slightly.“It’s what we’ve been fighting for.”Emily turned to him, a small smile on her lips.“I just hope we remember how to live it.”Later that evening, the team gathered at the estate’s main hall for what felt like the first peaceful meal in years. The atmosphere was warm, but there was an underlying current of finality.Kael raised his glass, smirking.“So, this is it, huh? No more bunkers, no more ambushes

Winter’s fingers flew over her keyboard, her screen filled with data streams and encrypted files. The room was dimly lit, the glow of monitors casting sharp shadows on her focused expression.James stood behind her, his arms crossed, tension radiating from him.“You’re sure about this?” James asked, his voice low but firm.Winter nodded, not taking her eyes off the screen.“Positive. These files weren’t just buried—they were hidden in layers of false leads. Whoever did this wanted to make sure no one found them, not even Zhao.”Kael leaned against the doorway, arms crossed.“And yet, here we are. What exactly are we looking at?”Winter tapped a key, bringing up a series of interconnected names, companies, and shell organizations.“The Syndicate isn’t just regrouping—they’re rebranding. New names, new players, same game.”James’s jaw tightened. “Led by who?”“That’s the kicker,” Winter said, spinning her chair to face them.“These files mention leadership figures Zhao didn’t even know

It’s safe.”Emily sighed, the weight of the past few days evident in her posture.“Safe, James, but not sustainable. We can’t keep uprooting our lives like this.”James met her gaze.“It’s temporary. Just until we figure out our next move.”Inside, the facility was stark but functional. Sarah clung to Emily’s hand, her eyes darting around the unfamiliar surroundings.“Is this where we’re going to live now?” Sarah asked softly, her voice tinged with worry.Emily knelt to her daughter’s level, brushing a strand of hair from her face.“J

If anything moves, I want to know.”Kael, walking just behind him, let out a low whistle.“Too quiet. I don’t like it.”James nodded.“Neither do I.”The team reached the entrance to the bunker, its steel doors partially concealed by overgrown vines.Kael moved forward, placing a charge on the lock.“Ready to breach,” he said.James gave a quick nod.“Do it.”The explosion was sharp and contained, the doors swinging open to reveal a dimly lit corridor. The team entered cautiously, their weapons raised.Winter’s voice came through again.“You’re in. Be careful—this layout is identical to some o

Winter’s workstation hummed with activity as lines of code scrolled across her screen. She leaned forward, her brow furrowed in concentration. On a nearby table lay the charred piece of paper Kael had recovered from The Widow’s lair.It was encoded, a complex cipher that had taken days to crack.Kael leaned against the wall, watching her work.“You’ve been at this for hours, Winter. Got anything?”Winter sighed, her fingers pausing over the keyboard.“Almost. Whoever wrote this wanted to make sure it stayed hidden. But they underestimated me.”James entered the room, his expression sharp.“What’s the status?”Winter pointed to the screen.“I’ve almost got it. The code is... odd. It’s deliberate, but there’s something about it that feels personal, like whoever wrote it wanted us to find it.”Kael raised an eyebrow.“Personal? From the Syndicate? Doesn’t exactly sound like their style.”Winter’s screen dinged softly, and she sat back, a faint smile of triumph crossing her face.“Got it.

The boardroom was uncomfortably quiet as Emily entered, her heels clicking against the polished floor. The tension in the air was palpable, the kind of silence that only came before a storm. She set her tablet down on the conference table and looked around at the gathered board members. Many avoided her gaze, their expressions carefully neutral.Others met her eyes with a mix of defiance and unease.“Thank you all for coming,” Emily began, her tone sharp but calm.“I’m aware there have been... concerns about the direction of this company in the wake of recent events.”A man at the far end of the table, Greg Thornton, cleared his throat. He was one of the company’s longest-serving board members and had always been vocal about his disapproval of Emily’s leadership.“Concerns is putting it mildly, Mrs. Radcliffe. Some of us are wondering if your methods are jeopardizing this company’s future.”Emily raised an eyebrow.“Jeopardizing? Or exposing inconvenient truths?”The room shifted unea

Who’s pulling the strings now that you’re finished?”Zhao chuckled softly, shaking his head.“Finished? My dear Radcliffe, you give yourself too much credit. You’ve barely scratched the surface.”James’s jaw tightened, but his voice remained steady.“You’re alone. The Syndicate is in ruins. You have nothing left.”Zhao leaned forward slightly, his smirk widening.“Nothing left? Oh, James. You’ve only pruned the tree, not uprooted it. The roots are s

The headquarters was quieter than usual, but the weight of what they’d accomplished hung heavy in the air.James stood in the main briefing room, surrounded by his team, while Winter sat at her station, typing furiously.Screens around her displayed reams of data—records, account numbers, and connections all tied to the Syndicate.Kael leaned against the wall, arms crossed.“That’s it, then? We’re done?”Winter didn’t look up from her screen.“Not yet. The Widow’s fall gave us access to a treasure trove of intel, but there’s a lot to sort through. Sleeper agents, hidden funds, collaborators—we need to root out every last one.”James nodded, his expression grim.“Every loose end tied up. No one slips through.”Kael raised an eyebrow.“You think that’s even possible? The Syndicate had its claws in everything.”James’s voice was steady. “We don’t stop until it’s done.”In another part of the building, Emily stood in front of a mirror, adjusting her blazer. She was minutes away from addre
