The ringing phone broke the tense silence in the room. Felicia, still standing beside Ethan, jumped slightly at the sound. She looked down at the screen, her face draining of color. Ethan could feel her pulse quicken as she stared at the caller ID. It was the hospital.

“Is something wrong?” Ethan asked, his voice low, though his tone was soothing, his attention fully on her.

Felicia swallowed hard, her eyes darting between the phone and him. She stepped away, bringing the phone to her ear. “Hello?” Her voice was shaky, uncertain.

Ethan’s healing power stirred inside him, flowing out subtly, instinctively. He didn’t even have to focus on it. It was an automatic response to Felicia’s distress.

His powers melded with his appraisal ability, piecing together every detail about the situation, his mind running a silent scan of the hospital’s call.

Her daughter’s medical condition, the financial strain, the desperate need for resources—it all unfolded before him.

The diagnosis appeared in his mind as clear as day. She needed immediate surgery. The cost would be enormous, but not insurmountable. Ethan’s dragon god energy hummed faintly beneath the surface, stirring as it sensed the stakes rising.

He watched as Felicia’s face tightened with worry. Her free hand gripped the phone tightly. “What are they saying?” Ethan asked, stepping toward her.

Felicia put a hand to her forehead, trying to steady her breath. “She’s in critical condition. They say it’s urgent… They need the money now. I… I don’t know what to do.”

Ethan moved closer to her, his calm presence a stark contrast to the rising panic around them. He placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, his dragon god power subtly influencing the air between them. His strength wasn’t visible, but it radiated from him, making the room feel colder and heavier, like the world itself was listening to his every word.

“You don’t have to worry about that,” Ethan said, his voice calm but layered with an unexpected authority. “I’ll take care of it.”

Felicia’s eyes widened in disbelief. “How? How will you—?”

“I’ll handle the money,” Ethan replied, his eyes flickering over to the secretary standing off to the side. The man shifted uncomfortably under Ethan’s gaze.

Without a word, the secretary nodded and pulled out his phone, already working on the financial arrangements.

Felicia turned to Ethan, her voice a whisper. “You don’t understand. It’s more than money. It’s her life.”

Ethan didn’t answer right away.

His gaze locked with hers, and for a moment, there was a quiet understanding between them.

He could feel her fear, her desperation, but he wasn’t about to let her face it alone.

His ancestral powers hummed beneath the surface of his skin, and he knew that, even though she didn’t fully understand what he could do yet, she would soon see that he was the one capable of fixing this.

Just then, the grandfather’s voice rang out, mocking and cruel.

“Really? You think you can solve everything with money? A few words and a few coins and you think you’ll be a hero?” The grandfather scoffed, his voice dripping with contempt.

“How typical. You think you can make everything right with your illusions of power?”

Ethan’s gaze turned cold, and the room seemed to shift with the pressure building within him.

His dragon god energy flared, subtle yet undeniable.

His powers resonated with the mocking tone, each word from the grandfather triggering something deep within Ethan’s blood.

His ancestral power—fueled by centuries of resentment—awoke, and his eyes seemed to glow for a brief, dangerous moment.

“You mock me, but you’ll regret it,” Ethan said, his voice like ice. The room suddenly felt smaller, the walls closer, as if the weight of his words had changed the very atmosphere.

The grandfather chuckled, dismissing him with a flick of his hand. “Regret? You’ll be lucky if you even last a week here, much less fix this family.”

Ethan stepped closer, his form exuding an almost supernatural confidence. The air crackled with an unspoken promise.

“This family,” he began, his voice low but carrying a power that made everyone in the room tense, “is nothing without me. I was born to fix it.

And no one—not even you—can stop me from doing what I need to do.”

The grandfather’s smirk faltered, just for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure. “You think you’re special? You think you have some sort of destiny? You’re nothing but a failed experiment in this family’s eyes. We’ve moved on without you.”

Ethan’s hand clenched into a fist. His dragon god energy flared to life, pulsing like the beat of a drum in the depths of his soul. The family around him could feel it, though they didn’t understand the source of the power. His every word was backed by his ancestor’s legacy, a force that could not be ignored.

“I’ve already done more for this family than you ever could,” Ethan said, his voice low and controlled, but the anger simmered beneath the surface. “This situation with Felicia’s daughter? It’s just the beginning. I’ll have everything fixed by the time you can blink.”

The grandfather’s face reddened with a mix of anger and disbelief. “You don’t know the first thing about what you’re dealing with. You think you’re the answer? You’re a joke.”

Ethan’s gaze flicked to Felicia. His heart ached for her, but he didn’t let it show. The moment was about more than just her daughter. This was about the power he was beginning to understand, the legacy of his dragon god bloodline. He would protect her. He would protect this family—even if it meant tearing it apart to rebuild it.

“You’re wrong,” Ethan said, his voice unshakable. “This family is mine to fix. And when I do, you’ll know you were never in control.”

The grandfather took a step back, clearly rattled by the intensity of Ethan’s words. But before he could respond, Ethan’s mental projection shifted, guiding the secretary toward the phone to confirm the arrangements. Felicia’s daughter’s life would be saved—nothing would stand in his way.

Ethan’s eyes flicked to Maria, who was watching him with narrowed eyes. “Keep watching,” he said, his voice laced with confidence. “You’ll see how wrong you were about me.”

And for the first time in years, Ethan felt the weight of his heritage—the dragon god bloodline that had been waiting for him to awaken. And now that it had, there was no going back.
