CHAPTER 43

Gary sat at his desk, flipping through the pages of the document that lay before him. He had read it twice already, but something about it just wasn't sitting right.

He furrowed his brow and read through the paragraph again, scanning each line for any hint of what was bothering him.

As he reached the signature line, his eyes narrowed. He had spotted something earlier, but had dismissed it as a minor detail. Now, however, he realized it could be the key to understanding what was wrong with the document.

He leaned closer to the paper, squinting as he studied the signature. "What is it?" he muttered to himself.

Suddenly, the door to his office opened and Winifield walked in. "Boss, the board of directors is requesting a meeting with you," she said, her voice urgent.

Gary looked up at him, his mind still trying to process the document in front of him. "Now? I can't do it now, I have too much to do," he replied, his tone frustrated.

"But they say it's urgent," Winifield insisted.
