Gary had been enduring accusations and insults from his in-laws for quite some time now. They constantly blamed him for not being a good enough son-in-law and made him feel unwelcome in their home. Gary had always tried to be respectful and courteous towards his in-laws, but it seemed like nothing he did was ever enough to please them.
Gary's in-laws were particularly harsh towards him. They were insulting him and accusing him of being useless and lazy. He had had enough and decided to stand up for himself.
While they argued and Gary tried to insult his wife for inviting him without a vivid reason, everyone noticed a figure walk into the hall, all heads turned towards that direction including Gary.
The moment he turned his head, he realized the figure was quite familiar, the moment the figure walked into the line light, he turned out to be Kyle.
The guy whom his wife was flirting with at the hotel a few days back.
Gary saw this as an opportunity to get his claim, hence he dashed towards Kyle to the amazement of everyone. Some even thought Gary was beginning to go nut. And the moment he began to tell everyone about the identity of the man he was holding, there was a different reaction.
Sandra was also caught by surprise and she felt a lump in her throat immediately she thought Kyle would expose her too.
Rather than that, Kyle raised. "You must be a crazy young man. I've never met you before, and neither have I seen your ugly face. How would you even expect me to see or meet somebody like yourself? It's quite disheartening." he told openly.
Gary was surprised once again, everything was just turning around against him.
Nevertheless, he tried to convince everyone that it was possible it was not the first time such was happening, and yet nobody had reprimanded Sandra for her behaviour.
Instead, they had chosen to blame and insult Gary for no reason. Gary explained that he had always tried his best to be a good son-in-law, but he couldn't take the constant insults and accusations anymore.
Unfortunately, instead of acknowledging Gary's point, the family members became defensive and started to attack him even more. They accused him of trying to shift the blame and even suggested that he was the one who was trying to flirt with another person and even indulging in infidelity.
Gary was taken aback by their reaction. He had only pointed out a fact and was not trying to start an argument. However, it seemed like his in-laws were not ready to listen to reason and were more interested in blaming him.
As soon as Kyle walked away, Gary stormed over to Sandra and confronted her in front of their family and friends. He accused her of seeing her that night but Sandra, taken aback by her husband's sudden outburst, tried to prove frail by explaining that she wasn't flirting with anyone, but was only discussing some business matters with the man.
Gary didn't believe her and continued to accuse her of lying. The argument grew more heated as they both raised their voices, each trying to prove their point. But you no avail. Every single person had taken sides with Sandra.
Despite the unfair treatment he received, Gary remained calm and respectful throughout the entire conversation. He realized that sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you cannot change people's opinions or behaviour.
Finally, Alora stood up, her eyes blazing with anger. "Enough!" she shouted. "I can't stand to see a rich man slipping off the palm of my granddaughter, while the poor church rat she is married to is trying to gain recognition."
The room fell silent as her words sank in. Everyone looked at each other, unsure of what to say or do next. Gary and Sandra exchanged a long, hard stare, their eyes filled with hurt and anger. Sandra gave him a sweet smile depicting victory over him.
In other to play the victim part well and try to prove a point, she spoke up, her voice shaking with emotion. "I swear to you, Gary, that I wasn't flirting with that man. I love you, and I would never do anything to hurt you. But if you can't trust me, then maybe it is time for us to go our separate ways."
Gary looked at her for a long moment, his expression unreadable. He was totally confused and speechless, Sandra was nothing but a demon itself but he never knew. He thought to himself.
The room was tense as Sandra's grandmother, Alora, stood up and declared that Gary and Sandra needed to end their marriage. The two of them had been arguing loudly, and it was clear to everyone that the situation had gotten out of hand.
"I've had enough of this bickering," Alora said, her voice shaking with anger. "Gary, if you can't trust your wife, then you have no business being married to her."
Gary glared at Alora, his fists clenched. "You don't understand," he said. "This lady here is far from being a saint, she is the devil replicate." Gary insisted.
"Shut the hell up Gary," Alora said.
Sandra looked down at the floor, she smiled and at the same time, tears streamed down her face. "I didn't mean to hurt you," she whispered. "I was just talking to the man about some business. That's all."
Alora shook her head. "It's time to end it."
Gary opened his mouth to protest, but Alora held up a hand to silence him. "But that's not all," she continued. "Until you're willing to apologize to every single person in this family, nobody in this city is going to offer you a job. You've caused too much trouble and hurt too many people with your anger and mistrust. It's time to make things right."
Gary looked shocked, his face turning red with anger. "That's not fair," he protested. "I didn't do anything wrong."
Alora sighed. "Gary, but this is the way it has to be. If you're not willing to make amends and have a peaceful life after divorce, then you have no business being a part of this community. You need to take responsibility for your actions and learn to trust and respect the people around you."
The room fell silent as Alora's words sank in. Everyone looked at each other, unsure of what to say or do next. It was clear that the situation was far from resolved, and that the family would have a long road ahead of them.
Right on the spot, Gary was a total mess. He was confused about what kind of family the Larsons were.
"I'll get my revenge," he murmured to himself
Gary couldn't believe what he had just heard, a glance at Sandra, he could see the joy written all over her face. That day had been hell if humiliation for him, but still he tried all he could just to submerge the pain without letting it take a toll on him.He was obviously burning in revenge but then he was emotionally drained as well. He just wasn't expecting this kind of treatment."Gary, is that too hard for you?" the grandmother said, with a hint of mockery clearly displayed across her lips. "If you aren't okay with it, I could definitely look for some other punishment for you. I'm sure you would love it, like do the house chores of about 10- 20 people here. It's an achievement though," she chuckled loudly after that.Gary looked at her painfully, he wasn't expecting this from the Larsons. Not with how much he sacrificed himself and humbled himself to do their bidding. It was very clear that thru can and would never be satisfied.Gary was still in a slight daze, his heart was too
'Come on, let's go… Be strong!" Brenda Wilson the strange lady said. However, Gary wasn't falling for it this time, he had every reason to doubt her. First of all, she had come out of nowhere, sat beside him and pretended to understand his plight and now she was offering to take him back to where he was coming from. "Never mind, I need to get some other things before heading home, so I guess you should leave first." Gary said with a flat tone. However, Brenda was in no way giving up either, yea! She did seem like she had something up her sleeve but no one knew. "Come on Gary, I feel for you, you absolutely shouldn't face this you currently are facing, let's go make things right." "Who are you? Just tell me who you are!" Gary finally yelled at the top of his voice. "A friend of course," she smiled indifferently. "A friend! How? You don't even know me, you don't know where I come from, you don't know me, so who the hell are you then?" However, Brenda took a few steps forward, sq
Gary walked In with all confidence, he had thought Brenda was really backing him up, a s the fact that he was seen as small and insignificant as his wife's family, and they all berated him, he felt that was just about to change. The last statement caught on their lips the moment he walked in was the fact that Alora finally agreed to the divorce. However the moment he walked in, everyone of them had gone numb. On the other hand, he tried to remain calm and collected, but the insults and jabs of the past were too much to bear."I can't believe you would do something so stupid, and still return here," somebody had said. "You should know better than to disrespect our family like this."However, Gary had thought he won when someone finally recognised the person behind him. "Are you an accomplice now Brenda!"Gary was forced to turn his head around in confusion. "Brenda, what's happening?"Brenda however smiled, in return, she walked forward and said. "Of course Gary. I obviously will nev
The next morning, Gary had breakfast in his grandfather's mansion. It was really the first time in many years he was having such large breakfasts. The previous years had honestly been tough for him.He made his way down the grand staircase, admiring the ornate chandelier that hung above the foyer. As he entered the dining room, he was taken aback by the grandeur of the space. The room was vast and filled with natural light, streaming in from the large windows that overlooked the perfectly manicured gardens outside. The table was laid out with crisp white linen, and there were elaborate flower arrangements placed at regular intervalsNot that alone, but the table was large enough unlike that of the Larson's and that brought back some memories. Where he could vividly remember how badly he was treated when it got to meals.Throughout the time he was married to Sandra, he never in his entire life ate at the dinning, it was either at the kitchen or in his bedroom."If only they knew, they
"Thief!" A voice said out of nowhere and everyone, from Gary to the sales representative was forced to look back."Are you surprised? Of course you are a thief." Gaey couldn't help it, throughout the time he lived with the Larson's he could tell he never took anything that was never placed in his custody instead, they had always been the one picking on him.Sandra's mom would always make sure she collects ten percent from each salary he earned. Now, Raphael was right before him tagging him as a thief."Raphael! I am not a thief and you know that." Gary said with no manner of fear in his voice."You are not a thief! Then how did my clothes constantly go missing? You said you aren't a thief then how the hell does my money disappear? Oh! I know you mean to say that somebody else had taken those money when you were actually the one in charge of laundering. Isn't it?" Raphael increased his pace towards the lobby , while on the other hand, many of the sales representatives who were less bus
While the sales girl kept trying the cards, the manager remembered Gary's face.In the past, both of them had attended the same secondary school, but then Gary had been made the head captain while he remained a regular student. Even though he was also brilliant, both kids always competed for the first place , but then the teachers had taken more preference to Gary due to some other qualities which he imbibed and no other students did.All along, back then, Mr Powell had always picked on Gary, but then Gary escaped his grisp due to the teacher's intervention. However, the same Gary of years back who was always well dressed and well composed was dressed in a common plain t-shirt, with a mere palm wear.To Mr Wilson, it was as though the hands of time had turned and now, he was in a more comfortable position to deal with Gary.At least he could take out all his frustration on him. Hence, he also hoped that the cards never worked so he could call the cops to deal with Gary.Hence, the mo
"Grandpa, that card was blown, you should have let me be if I would be given a vague card just to set my hopes up." The following day, Gary was still furious. The embarrassment from the previous day was still over him. Never in his life had he thought of getting to prison, but with this so-called new life of his, he had finally landed in prison. The following day, his grandfather requested Gary's presence in his office, hence he ended up spilling out his concerns. "It was a mistake, Gary, I had given you an expired card, instead of the new one Steve collected from the bank for your sake." "Grandpa, I'm sorry, but if this new life would lead me to the worst places I've ever been, I would rather remain with my previous identity. At least, I'm still a part of your family, your blood and your flesh." Gary voiced out in terror. Flashback…. Just a few hours he stayed in prison seemed like hell to him. Rogelio had specially instructed the cops that Gary must be dealt with. Hence, Gary
Gary had just finished admiring the towering building of the company he had always dreamed of working for. He took a deep breath and turned around, ready to walk through the doors and start his first day at work. However, just as he was about to take his first step, he felt a tap on his shoulder and a voice inclusive. Only to turn around to see Brenda Wilson, the same lady who had behaved as though she was his friend a few days ago, but had finally joined his in-laws to insult him. And there she was again standing with a smug grin on her face."Hey, Gary," Brenda said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "What are you doing here? Did you get lost on your way to the coffee shop?"Gary rolled his eyes. Brenda had always been the type to mock others to boost her ego."I'm starting my new job here," Gary replied, trying to sound confident even though he felt a knot forming in his stomach.Brenda's grin widened. "Oh really? And what makes you think they would hire someone like you?"Gary gri
