Chapter 13

Soon as Damian left, Danny sat alone in silence, his shoulders slumped with lines of worry etching across his forehead.

The weight of unseen burden seems to pull him down as he is lost in thought and caught in a silent endless conversation with himself.

“It's been over eleven days since my arrival but I have not paid my respects yet.”

He paced around the house for some minutes and afterwards decided to go pay his respects.

He walked out of the house with the intention of taking a taxi to the ruins of the Allen's house.

However as Danny walked outside, there was Jefferson, his second in command seated behind the wheels of a multi-purpose vehicle with it's license plate covered up.

“Didn’t I tell you and the other boys to retreat back to base? What are you still doing here?”

Jefferson sat at the spot, his demeanor quiet and unassuming. His facial expression looked kind with a hint of a smile.

“General, all the other men have gone back as instructed. It's just me now, won't you let me stay? You at least need one person to guard you.”

Danny's face was lace with excitement, his voice barely above whispers.

“You can call me Danny, not the general, especially here in West Haven City.”

“Okay!”

“Now take me to Allen's cemetery.”

Danny was now at the spot where the Allen's villa once was.

He is lost in thought, Memories, regrets, and unanswered questions swirl in his mind, clouding his focus and leaving him unaware of his surroundings.

This used to be his home, now replaced by graves since his family was burnt down to ashes.

Allen's family was now worm food, with their home in ruins.

The sky is thick with dark, heavy clouds that threaten to release at any moment.

Soon, the environment is filled with the sound of the rain, a constant, soothing pitter-patter that blankets the cemetery.

Danny's expression is heavy, his face etched with a mixture of grief and reflection, as he stands there, lost in thoughts of what once was.

Thud. Danny fell to his knees.

Ten years ago, the Allen's were the first family of West Haven.

A well reputable multi-billion business oriented family, that paved way to the very top through the Alix group, the families first company.

He was only 17 years old when his dad passed, leaving his wife and children in charge of their assets and, importantly, the Alix group.

A year and 3 months later, his mother got remarried by another man after she found Love again.

His stepfather was Lord Salvador. A reputable tycoon, belonging to one of the most prestigious families in West Haven.

Lord Salvador and his sons Seth and Carl had a plan all along, which involved taking over the Alix group, but they had to take care of Allen's since they were standing in-between them and the Alix group.

Danny's face was etched with anger and anxiety. Tears streaming down his face, his eyes red and swollen from the emotions he can no longer hold within.

His shoulders shaked slightly as he struggles to steady his breathing.

“Mom, you were wrong. You're the reason why the Allen's are gone.”

“You should have never remarried that scumbag, Lord Salvador.”

“That hard hearted man should have never stepped his toes in our home, now here we are.”

Danny's face was laced with sadness and tears tracing paths down his cheeks.

His lips shakes as he tries to form words that won't come, he then bows his head, letting the tears flow freely, giving in to the weight of what he bore all these years.

He hated his mother for falling in love with the wrong man, which resulted in the demise of the Allen's.

More importantly, he hated Lord Salvador, his children and those that had a hand in the sudden death of his family.

Danny's face now laced with seriousness and dedication uttered out, his voice barely above whispers.

“I will not let my family die in vain. I swear to avenge you all.”

“Anyone involved in the death of y'all would pay dearly for their sins, because it's judgment time.”

Jefferson on the other hand had his posture straight and his gaze scanning the surroundings with a practiced vigilance, yet holding an umbrella over Danny's head.

“My condolences, General.”

“I promise to go with you through thick and thin to unearth and bring to justice those who brought so much pain to you.”

Jefferson, not in his years of service with Danny, has ever seen him so much distraught.

He had never shown a hint of fear against anybody, not even wars frightened him.

Here he is in front of the faces puddling in tears.

“General, Alix Group, now belonging to your step grandfather Lord Salvador, will be having a celebratory banquet by noon."

"He is turning 76 today."

Danny clenched his fists, his face laced with trepidation and anger.

“Alix group?”

Alix group was the Allen's family business.

Now, it had fallen into the hands of Lord Salvador, his wicked step grandfather.

He stood up slowly tensed, with clenched fists and a furrowed brow. His eyes wide and intense, showing frustration and fury.

“Get me an expensive bottle of Champaign, let's go, we have a banquet to catch up with. It's time to collect the debt they owe.”
