One Hour Later
The hospital was now on total lockdown. Soldiers in full combat gear patrolled the perimeter, their eyes sharp, their weapons ready. Military medical teams had taken over the facility. Outside, the tension among the onlookers thickened. Commissioner Ray was among them, came by himself to see what's happening. A group of his subordinates rushed toward him. "Commissioner," one of them panted. "Even the police are securing the perimeter now. All the top military generals are here. There’s only one explanation for this…" Ray’s jaw clenched. He already suspected it, but hearing it aloud made his heart raced "A Seven-Rank officer is present," He murmured. "And there's only one man with that rank—" His subordinate finished the sentence for him. "The God of War." A hush fell between them. The words carried weight, sending shivers down their spines. Another officer hesitated before speaking. "Sir, there's more. I heard that Doctor Tane was arrested." Ray frowned. "Tane? What the hell did he do?" "Apparently, there is a girl in critical condition inside the hospital..." the officer swallowed, "she’s the God of War’s daughter. And she was mistreated." Ray felt his blood run cold. His hand instinctively curled into a fist. "What?" His voice was dangerously low. "That’s a fucking serious offense. Someone tell me why Congressman Copper hasn’t handled this yet!" He yanked out his phone, dialing Copper’s number. It rang once. Twice. No answer. Ray’s frustration boiled over. "Why the hell isn’t he picking up?" He tried again. Still nothing. Inside the Hospital Stiles lay on the hospital bed, his body sore, his vision blurry as he slowly opened his eyes. Sergeant Mike, kneeling at his bedside, immediately spoke. “My Lord, you have awakened.” His voice trembled with guilt. Before Stiles could respond, the door swung open, and Mr. Robert rushed in alongside a general. Without hesitation, they both bowed deeply. Mike clenched his fists, his voice filled with remorse. “I ought to be killed for not protecting you. I should have taken the bullet in your place.” Stiles exhaled sharply, shaking his head. “It’s okay,” he muttered, his voice hoarse but steady. Then his gaze shifted beside him. There, on the adjacent hospital bed, lay Amelia—her small body still and fragile. His heart clenched as he reached out, gently touching her pale face. “How is she?” His voice was barely above a whisper. “Is she okay?” A doctor stepped forward, his expression serious. “She is stable now, my Lord. She only needs rest and a few prescriptions.” He hesitated before continuing. “But…” Stiles ’s eyes darkened. “But what?” The doctor took a deep breath. “What happened to your daughter—it wasn’t natural heart disease. Someone injected her with a poisonous substance… enough to weaken her over time.” Stiles ’s breath hitched. “What!?” His voice turned sharp, deadly. The doctor nodded grimly. “Yes, my Lord. And during our examination, we also found fractures on her body. Old and fresh ones. Someone treated her like a punching bag.” A chilling silence filled the room. Stiles ’s grip on Amelia’s hand tightened as his knuckles turned white. Mr. Robert spoke up, his tone grave. “We’ve already conducted an investigation, my Lord. The one responsible is the hospital director… He was following orders from Congressman Copper.” Stiles ’s entire body stiffened. “Congressman Copper… was hurting my daughter?” His voice was ice-cold, dripping with murderous intent. The doctor nodded. “Yes, my Lord.” A storm brewed in Stiles ’s eyes. His hands trembled with fury. And anger. His voice was low, “What have I done?” His eyes glistened with unshed tears as he stroked Amelia’s hair. “I swear…I will kill whoever tormented you, my princess.” “Daddy is here now,” he whispered to Amelia. Then his gaze lifted, sharper than a blade. “And everything is about to change. They will kneel. And they will beg for forgiveness.” Just then, Amelia let out a terrified scream, thrashing in her sleep. “Daddy, don’t go! Daddy, don’t go!” She jolted awake, her small body trembling, her face wet with tears. Stiles immediately pulled her into his arms, holding her close. “Daddy is here, princess. Daddy is here,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. Amelia clung to him, sobbing. “Daddy… you’re here.” She hiccupped, her little fingers gripping his shirt desperately. “I dreamt you were leaving. Please don’t leave me. I’m scared… It’s scary, and scary people are doing scary things to my mom.” Stiles stiffened. His fury boiled over. His breathing was heavy, controlled only by sheer willpower. “I am here, and I will forever be here, princess,” he vowed, his voice dangerously calm. “They will all apologize.” Amelia looked up at him, a small smile breaking through her fear. Then Stiles ’s expression hardened. His eyes swept across the room. “Where is my Victoria?” A tense silence followed. Mr. Robert hesitated before gulping. “We are mobilizing the army right now, my Lord. Ms. Victoria is currently in the custody of Congressman Copper.” Stiles ’s head snapped toward him. His blood turned to ice. “What!?” His voice was a roar, shaking the room. Mr. Robert bowed his head. “Yes, my Lord. We learned that six years ago, not long after you left… Ms. Victoria’s father died. At the time, she was found pregnant, and all her family members denied her. They stripped her of every right and all the properties her father left for her. She was cast out—left to suffer alone.” Stiles ’s grip tightened on Amelia. His entire body trembled with rage. Mr. Robert continued, his voice dark with anger. “Congressman Copper has been making advances toward Ms. Victoria ever since. She refused him at every turn. That’s why he used your daughter to weaken her.” Stiles couldn't even imagine how much Victoria had suffered, and he blamed himself all for it. "Prepare. let go as soon as possible before that animal do something horrible!", He said.
