2024-04-15 18:01:22The guards opened the door to the main hall and Roland Knight, Miranda's boyfriend, walked into the hall with his head raised high. One look at him and everyone will know that he is a confident man.
“Hi baby!” Miranda screeched and met him halfway, pulling him in for a hug. He reciprocated as he wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her up placing a kiss on her lips.
The act of theirs caused people around to ‘aww’ in admiration.
“I want to introduce you to my grandfather,” she said excitedly.
He nodded his head in agreement, “Alright babe, let's go”. She took his hand in hers and they made their way to the center of the hall.
As they walked side by side people turned their heads to stare at them. They couldn't get over how lucky she was to have one of the most sought after bachelors in the town.
When they got to where master Wilson was seated, Roland bowed his head in respect and greeted him, “Good day, sir.”
Miranda grinned, “Grandfather, meet my boyfriend Roland Knight. We've been together for a month now and he has been the best.”
Master Wilson smiled in pride. The man his grandchild introduced as her boyfriend looked good and responsible. He was happy that at least one of his grandchildren still had eyes for good things. He was also aware that the guy standing before him was one of the most sought after bachelors.
Master Wilson gave him a pat on the back and acknowledged his greeting.
After a while, Roland made a quick call and his chauffeur came in with a small golden jewelry box. Then he gave it to Roland. The crowd watched, wondering what was going to happen.
All this while, Miranda clinched to his arm with a wide grin on her face.
Roland stood up and went to the center of the hall to present the ring box to Master Wilson, “Sir, I want to give you this. As it's only right I consider you my grandfather.” He said with a polite smile.
Master Wilson was touched by that statement. Roland simply meant that since he'll get married to Miranda sooner or later, he'll also like to consider her grandfather as his grandfather.
Master Wilson took the gift from him and opened it, he was shocked when he saw what was contained in the box. It was an emerald brooch that shone so brightly, he knew it must have cost a fortune to purchase it.
Miranda looked at Roland with wide eyes “This is beautiful!”
Everybody murmured in agreement
Miranda definitely was one lucky woman to secure a capable man like Roland.
Miranda then turned to look at Isabelle who stood close by and watched the whole display. “Now, this is what we call a presentable and honorable gift. Not some ordinary scarf you made with substandard materials”

They were so engrossed in their gossip that they didn't notice when Sebastien entered the hall. They suddenly turned to see who said that and they were surprised when they saw Sebastien standing there so confidently.
“And how do you know that?! Have you ever seen any form of gem in your entire life?” Miranda was quick to attack him.
“I'm not here to argue, I'm simply stating facts” Sebastien said with a cocky grin
Isabelle was surprised when she saw that Sebastien is now okay.
“Who the hell are you?” Roland asked authoritatively. “How dare you come in here and talk thrash about something you would never be able to afford even in your next ten lives”
“Relax. Don't get so riled up but anybody can see that this thing is fake.” Sebastien grinned.
“I don't care how you got in here but you have to leave right now. What nonsense is this?! I'm sure it's Isabelle who invited you. This place is clearly not an asylum or a mental hospital. Why are you trying to put Roland in a bad light? Are you that bitter? Get the hell out of here!” Miranda flared up when she saw that Sebastien was trying to make Roland seem like a bad person in the eyes of grandfather.

Miranda fumed at that statement and she raised her hands to slap him but he gripped her wrist before she could even touch him.
That was when Isabelle knew that Sebastien was back to his right frame of mind. If it was before he would have just stood there and received all the beatings. She was so happy for him but at the same time she didn't want him to get involved with the family issues especially one concerning Miranda.
Isabelle went to meet him and pulled against his arm, signaling him to stop engaging them.
He understood and was about to lead the center of the hall with Isabelle when he was stopped by Master Wilson.
“And do you have any proof that the emerald is fake? I think you are still mentally unstable. You should be in bed at the asylum maybe they need to recheck your brain”
