Everyone gasped, how dare he challenge Master Wilson.

“No, there'll be no need for that grandfather. There's no point giving him a chance when he is clearly mentally unstable” Roland interjected, worried that Sebastien will expose him.
“I agree, we shouldn't waste time on this non-entity” Miranda supported her husband.
“Listen, let's be fair. Let's give him a chance to prove himself” Master Wilson said, he was very sure that Sebastien would just disgrace himself because with the way the emerald shone it couldn't be fake.
Master Wilson then turned his attention to sebastien and said, “what do you need for the experiment?“
Sebastien took slow strides towards master Wilson “I'll need a clear, transparent, can or glass cup, Tweezers, some oil, could be vegetable oil, the fake emerald—” He said, counting off on his fingers.
Miranda and Roland glared at him at the mention of ‘fake emerald’.
“That should be all” He said and master Wilson ordered the chefs to get all that he needed and place it on the center table.
Isabelle didn't know how Sebastien was going to prove that the emerald was fake but she hoped that he wouldn't embarrass them.
Just then Isabelle's mother, Adeline, came, stood behind her and whispered in her ear, “what is he up to? Hope he doesn't disgrace us again! I warned you against inviting him to the party”
Isabelle already explained countless times that she didn't invite him but nobody believed her.
By the time the equipment needed for the experiment were set on the table, the crowd had already circled round the table. Everyone was eager to know the result of the experiment.
“Bring the Emerald” Sebastien instructed Roland.
Roland was taken aback, how can this good for nothing command me to bring something that he could as well get by himself? He hesitated for a moment “Why don't you get it yourself?! How dare you instruct me”
Sebastien laughed out loud, “Are you stalling? Perhaps you are scared that your secret is going to get exposed”
Miranda nudged her boyfriend, “Just get it. Don't worry he'll be put to shame when he discovers that the emerald is real”
Roland then went to bring the emerald, not wanting it to seem like Sebastien's assumptions were true but he knew sooner or later he would be exposed. He just hoped his guard polished the emerald again, so maybe that way it'll be able to retain its color.
Roland placed the emerald brooch on the table and walked back to where he stood.
Sebastien turned to the crowd, clearly enjoying their interest in his experiment and explained the process, “So, I'm going to dip this emerald in the oil—”
“You can't! Do you want to damage it? This emerald can buy your entire life” He was just starting when Miranda cut him shut.
He turned to look at her and placed a finger on his lip “Hush, I'm still talking”

“So, as I was saying before we were rudely interrupted. After dipping it in the oil, we'll watch and see. If it turns colorless on both sides but with a green film in the middle then it is fake but if it retains its color then it is original, understood?”
He got murmurs and nods from the crowd.
Then he turned around to the other side and picked up the tweezers. He then picked up the emerald and was about to dip it in the oil when Roland said, “This guy is trying to humiliate me. This is the biggest humiliation I have ever felt. I brought something as a gift and then a non-entity thinks it is right to test if it is original”
“Yes grandfather, Sebastien is insane and needs to be caged in an asylum”
Master Wilson just assured them saying, “let's see the outcome of the experiment”
Sebastien picked up the emerald again and dipped it in the oil, then he twirled it and waited a few minutes.
It appeared colorless!
Then he raised the cup and revealed it to the crowd, “It is fake” Sebastien announced in a loud voice.
The crowd gasped, everyone came closer to get a close look at the emerald in the cup.
“What nonsense! The emerald can't be fake. I know what I spent on it. Whatever stupid experiment you did isn't trustworthy!” Roland said
“Yes, I agree. I've never seen any jeweler test gem in that local, unpolished manner. I'm sure you have devalued the emerald” Miranda backed her boyfriend up.
“No, just stop the bickering. I worked as a jeweler back in the days and I am very familiar with this experiment. Before the modernized method of checking the originality of gemstones was formed. This was the method we employed. So if this method says the emerald is fake, then I deed, it is fake!” Master Wilson said with a tone of finality, giving no room for arguments.
Isabelle just watched in shock all the while, so Roland presented a fake emerald and they were mocking her gift which she self-made.
Miranda was also in shock, she couldn't come to terms with the fact that her boyfriend could disgrace her like this. Why would he bring a fake gem for her grandfather. And it was just at that time that Sebastien had to appear. She lowered her head in shame.
Sebastien brought out the gem and further examined it, “Looking at this thing it can't be worth more than fifty bucks, what a shame! And you all were mocking and laughing at somebody that brought something that is much more valuable than this piece of trash. Something that was made out of love and not just for mere show off”
Isabelle felt relieved deep down.
