Chapter 23

Eleanor, her eyes fixed on Ruben, leaned in, inquiring about his true intentions, "So, what really are your intentions for her? Because there's no way a man like you wouldn't want to be with her without any motive." Ruben met her gaze with sincerity, "Ma'am, I really like your daughter. She's beautiful, smart, and everything one would want in a woman. I want her to be my wife, and I promise you, I'll take care of her. But, I can't do all these if she's still married."

Eleanor corrected him firmly, "Oh no, point of correction, she's not married." Ruben, taken aback, asked, "What?" Eleanor explained, "He's just bearing the husband title, but he's not her husband, and they will soon be divorced. The papers are already drawn." Ruben's surprise was evident as he said, "Oh, really?" Eleanor continued, her voice laced with determination, "Yes."
