Chapter 7

"Zoe, what are you doing! Come on, get down from there!"Zidane looked at his sister desperately.

"No Zidane! I don't want to live anymore! Jason, he ruined everything!" Zoe shouted.

"What, do you remember Jason?"

The tears were clearly visible. Zoe was crying for Jason?

"He was my boyfriend, Zidane. I dated him first." Zoe said weakly.

"Really? Let's go down first!"

Zidane was surprised to hear Zoe's words. But that was not important now. He tried to persuade.

A sturdy rope was already around Zoe's neck. The child intended to hang herself with a rope. Her feet were still standing on the chair.

"No Zidane. No." Zoe refused.

"I want to die. I don't like this life."

"You'll be strong Zoe. There's me, there's grandma!" Zidane was still trying.

"No, you won't. You don't know anything. Zidane, Jason has ruined everything. No! Cassie. That woman, Zidane! Leave her alone!" Zoe shouted.

"Yes, Zoe. I've already parted ways with her. Come on down, let's talk sitting down!"

"Zidane. Everything is ruined! Everything is falling apart! What do I do?" Zoe cried harder.

"Calm down, we'll face it together. Let's go down first, okay?"

Zidane coaxed again. He approached Zoe slowly. Afraid that her sister would immediately jump off the chair and get entangled in the rope that was already around her neck.

But Zoe moved faster. She actually jumped off the rope.

"No!"

Zidane quickly caught Zoe. He held Zoe's body, quickly removing the rope from her neck.

Letty was stunned to see everything happening so fast. She had just arrived when Zoe jumped off the chair.

"Take her to the hospital, Zidane!" Letty exclaimed.

The eyes were closed. But Zidane knew his sister had only fainted. Her pulse and heart were still beating. There were no traces of the overly strong noose around her neck. Zidane was sure Zoe was safe.

But not her psyche. Zoe was completely shaken. She regained consciousness and did come back. But this was worse than Zidane had imagined.

"What should we do Zidane? Why is Zoe like this? I thought she just lost her mind, but suicide? Oh my God! She really went through a lot. What happened to her?"

For the first time Leti asked about her granddaughter's condition. Zidane just shook his head weakly.

"Can you look after Zoe alone? I really need to find out and get back to you. We can't just stay like this, or how about we take Zoe to the city and get therapy there?"

"I don't agree with you going back to the city. See what happens? There's nothing right about living in the city, it's better in the village, Zidane. I'll take better care of Zoe, I promise. I'll get someone to help look after her too, I'll look after her, Zidane! Go, if you really want to go to the city. But, are you sure? These are powerful people, Zidane, dealing with them is suicide!"

"Grandma is right. But I have power, Grandma. I now have money!" Zidane exclaimed.

"Power? Money? What do you mean?"

"That old cell phone. I was really surprised by my powers. I entered a magical world inside that cell phone, just like the video games I used to play. Then after I won a level, I came back and the power in my body increased.  Did you see that? I can take them all on. I didn't even get shot. a

Then, even more strangely, in my savings account, there were thousands of dollars. No one sent it to me. I'm sure it was from that cell phone!"

Zidane seemed enthusiastic about the story but not Leti who heard it.

"I kept the cell phone on purpose Zidane. I don't want you to use it!"

Zidane was immediately disappointed by his grandmother's words. Even without the cell phone, he already had a bit of money and power, Zidane could have gotten back at Jason right now. But he wanted to know why she told him not to. What was wrong with the cell phone?

"Why?"

"Why? Your grandfather was the owner of this old phone Zidane and he never came back. Why? Because it was the price to pay. There are people who say he got into that game and can't come back. I don't want you to be like that! And your father, your father disappeared because he was looking for your grandfather. I don't want you to disappear because of this cell phone!"

Zidane was shocked to hear his grandmother's words. He thought his father had died a long time ago. They had never talked about him since then.

"I'll just get my revenge on Jason. He went too far with Zoe. That's it and I'll be right back, returning that cell phone to grandma too!"

"No, Zidane!"

Zidane didn't want to argue about this. Even if he didn't find the phone, he still wanted revenge against Jason.

"I'll still go with or without the phone.

It doesn't matter to me if I'm the one being humiliated and destroyed, but this is Zoe, the only treasure I have besides grandma. I can't just stand by!"

Zidane clenched his fists and went to the bathroom. He needed to calm his emotions. Seeing Zoe lying weak in the hospital, his heart was torn. Even though she was fine, that didn't put Zidane at ease.

The doctor himself said that Zoe needed psychological treatment to calm her mind, which was shaken by the events she had experienced.

Letti took out the cell phone that had been in her pocket. She looked back at the old cell phone.

The phone that had so many memories of the husband who disappeared decades ago.

No one knew about this. She was afraid of being called crazy like people used to call her. Only to Zidane's father did she tell him.

Then, it made him lose his only son too.  Leti saw for herself, when Zidane's father used to hold the cellphone, press a few buttons, then disappeared right in front of her eyes and never came back.

"I'm afraid of losing you too, Zidane. Two people have already disappeared because of this phone. I tried so hard to destroy it and never could. I don't understand what the mystery is in this phone. You're very lucky. You can come back, Zidane. What if you don't?"

The gurgling sound of water stopped. Zidane will be out soon. Leti quickly put the cell phone in the pocket of Zidane's bag.

"I don't know if this is true or not, but okay Zidane. It's just this one time. I hope you can come back!"
