Chapter 6

Zidane blinked as she touched his shoulder. He seemed to wake up.

"Grandma!"

"Are you hurt?"

"My shoulder, I was..."

Zidane touched his shoulder, he felt the bullet hit his shoulder.

"Is your shoulder hurt?" Letty asked worriedly.

Zidane touched his shoulder, but there was no pain. No bullet had hit him.

"No, Gran."

Zidane was being questioned for his fight with the thugs. They were all people who had been wanted by the police for causing trouble.

Zidane was asked to describe what the faces of the perpetrators looked like in order to facilitate the process of arresting the perpetrators.

Letty's grandmother immediately took her grandson home. On their way home, they passed a supermarket.

"Go! Go away! You crazy person!"' the waitress shouted rudely.

"Hey stop it!" Letty was angry.

Letty saw Zoe being treated badly. She didn't like it.

"Is she your family? Take her! It's an eyesore. Diners will be disgusted to enter the restaurant!"

The waitress left and Zidane came over to her.

"Zoe are you hungry?"

Zoe nodded weakly. Grandma was touched and hugged her granddaughter.

"Sorry, I was going to find some food. Zidane, let's take Zoe home. I'll look for her."

"No need. Let Zidane buy the food and let me go home with Zoe!" Zidane exclaimed.

"Do you have any money? You just got fired!"

"I still have a little bit, Grandma!"

"Alright, let's go Zoe!"

Zidane just watched the two leave and rushed to the nearest store. He bought so many things and groceries.

"I don't know who sent me the money, but I need to get back to the city soon. Finding a new job is the most important thing. I'm not going to let grandma and Zoe starve here without food," she said to herself and carried all her belongings to the house.

Just a few steps into the house, Zidane was suddenly surrounded by several people he didn't recognize.

"What?" Zidane asked boldly. He wanted to get home quickly, surely his two loved ones were starving.

"You're Zidane? It's here! It was easy to find you," said one of them and then without hearing anything, the man pointed a long iron at Zidane's face.

Zidane dodged, he dodged so his luggage wouldn't fall or get dirty.

"Let's beat him up! Finish him off! Anyone who can break his legs and arms will get a tenfold bonus!" shouted one of them.

Everyone rushed forward. In their hands were blunt weapons. Wooden blocks, iron rods, and other items. Zidane's guts shrank a little. He was outnumbered. Not to mention, he didn't know what and why they were attacking him.

"Hey, stop it! What are you doing!" The shout stopped them in their tracks.

There came Letti with a broomstick brandished in the air. That certainly didn't scare anyone, as they had stronger weapons.

"Get out of here!" Letty shouted again. She blocked her body in front of Zidane, protecting her grandson.

"No, go in and lock the door, just bring this stuff in. Let me face them!"

"But Zidane..."

"Go away!"

There was a sense of apprehension there, but the old granny went in. Letty carried Zidane's 3 bags of groceries and immediately locked the door. Even though she had entered, her eyes kept watching Zidane through the large windows of her house.

"Buuk buuuk buuuk!"

The sound of a blunt object hitting was inevitable. It made Letty close her eyes and dread the fact that her grandson could have been killed by those men.

There was no sound whatsoever. Letty ventured to open her eyes.

Through the glass, she saw everyone lying on the ground. They were moaning in pain. The only one standing was Zidane.

"Zidane! Oh God, are you okay?" Letty shouted from the doorway.

Zidane nodded. Then approached one of the lying men.

"Who's your boss? What did I do wrong?" Zidane asked.

There was no response. That annoyed Zidane. He wanted to know why they were attacking him, and to know his whereabouts.

"Hey, who?!" Zidane shouted in annoyance.

He took a wooden block and pressed it into the man's left hand.

"Ow! Fine, I'll tell you!" he cried pleadingly.

"Tell me!"

"Jason! Jason did it. He wants you dead."

"What?"

"I don't know anymore. He just told us to finish you off!"

Zidane threw a wooden block carelessly. Telling all those people to leave. There was anger in his chest.

"Who is Jason? Did you ever hurt him?" Letty asked.

"No, I didn't. That man is the one who hurt Zoe. I never wanted to hurt anyone. But he went this far. I can't keep quiet!" Zidane clenched his hands in anger.

"Zidane!" Letty tried to calm her grandson down.

"I'll go into town and see him. I don't mind him being with Cassie.

Okay, let's say Cassie and I aren't a match. But Zoe? What's my sister's fault? Especially when they went to the village. That's too much, kiddo!" Zidane said passionately.

"Cassie? Is she the woman you want to marry?"

"Yes, grandmother. Ah, never mind. Cassie and I might not be a match. But she shouldn't have touched Zoe." Zidane regretted.

"Zidane, there's no need for violence, we can talk nicely." Letty suggested.

"I..."

"Forgive them."

"If only forgiveness could bring Zoe back, grandma. I won't be violent. They've come this far, why would they look for me in the village? To finish me off? What have I done to them? Nothing. I never once hurt them!"

Zidane was furious and disappointed at what Jason had done.

He actually wanted to forget all this, even forgive what had been done to his brother. But Jason searching all the way to the village was too much. Jason intended to destroy her life and even finish her off.

"I'll go to the city and make it up to him, Gran!"

"Don't Zidane. You'll only go down the crocodile hole. What have you got that you can finish them off? Look at how many men he has? You are alone. You could get hurt and die in there." Letty advised.

"Zidane, never mind. They must have power and even money. They can destroy us wherever we hide, it's better to avoid conflict with them!"

Zidane shook his head strongly. He did not agree with Letty's opinion. He didn't want to be underestimated by people, even though he didn't have power or money. He would still fight back.

"Take care of Zoe until I get back, Gran!"

Zidane entered and got ready. He didn't bring much of his personal belongings, just a small bag and a cell phone found in the attic.

"You're leaving right away? But you only arrived a few hours ago!" Letty interrupted.

"It's okay. I'll rest later."

Zidane then went into Zoe's room to say goodbye. He turned the key, then was surprised to realize the room wouldn't open.

"Is this the right key? Why can't it open?"

Letty went over and opened Zoe's room. Letty remembered that it was her key.

"Why can't it open? Did Zoe lock it from the inside? Break it down Zidane!"

"Buk!"

With one kick, the door flew open. Zidane was surprised by the strength of his foot.

"Oh my God, Zoe!" Letty cried out seeing Zoe's condition.
