Roman sat in his dining room with the two lawyers whom he had met at the funeral ground. They were both from Rhoades family and Floyd’s. It seemed they were here to talk to him about the properties. Florence came down the stairs to find Roman watching the television. It was kind of awkward to see him staring at the television screen. It was usually because he never had time for that. Roman had always been busy running around trying to make sure that everyone around him was okay. He had sacrificed a lot and it was time he got some rest. He deserved it. Alice placed the back duffel bag on the bed and began dumping her clothes into it. She was in a rush. She had to get out of there quickly. It was only a matter of time before they were caught. Roman looked around carefully as he stepped further into the room. Florence was behind him with the gun in her hand pointing towards her feet as he scanned the room tentatively as well. Alice could hear her eyes ringing as she looked at her surroundings. For a split second, she was lost, but as she felt the warm liquid trickle down her temple, her memories came back. They had been running from Roman. She and Billy. It was no surprise that he would come neck for revenge. But what surprised her most was the fact that he was alive. She could remember stuffing three bullets into his chest that rainy night. How the hell could he have survived that? “Thank you for coming, Roman,” Lilian said. Roman clenched his jaws and nodded. He had just stepped out of the elevator and was already greeted by Lilain who seemed to have been waiting for him eagerly. Why wouldn’t she? He had accepted to give her back the company—well, not everything. Just a minority stake to make sure that they didn’t try anything funny in the future. Just like last time. “Right this way, the lawyers are waiting for you,” she said, pointing towards the familiar office. Roman walked through the hallway in silence as they made their way towards his office. Ever since Donald had died, he had become the new CEO of the company. “How is this even possible?” Roman asked as he stared at the bowl of soup. Ben could only chuckle. He was by the sink now dressed in a blue apron as he did the dishes. Florence, who was standing at the counter with Roman, laughed at his words. Ben had made dinner, and the soup was supposedly dessert. Roman hadn’t been convinced at first that the soup would be okay for dessert. He claimed they could have had something better like ice cream, but Ben had been determined to let them try his chicken soup. And it ended up being stellar. “You underestimate my qualities, Roman,” Ben said. Roman took another spoonful of soup before he looked up at him. “I think I do.”Florence and Ben ended up laughing.
