CHAPTER 81

Florence Weah’s heart was thumping hard against her chest as she stood before the door to her father’s study. He had asked to see her, and he wondered why he would want to do so. Her father only called on her if it was important. Making her the face of his plans wasn’t as enthralling as she thought it would be. It was only involving her in dangerous feuds. But she didn’t have a choice. She had to do what he asked because he was the only parent she had left.

Florence held the doorknob and exhaled before swinging the door open. She stepped into the room and found a figure standing by the window. It was her father. She rolled her eyes as she closed the door behind her. She was tired of her father acting like he was invisible. It was amazing that everybody he worked with didn’t know what he looked like. There were no portraits of him at home. Every one of them had been taken down while she had been away.
