As they sat in the car, including the bodyguard in the backseat, Gwen started the car and drove off. “What was that back there? You were so determined,” Gwen said with her gaze focused on the road.
“Yeah, that pendant holds a significant meaning in my life. I am sorry if the behavior turned you off,” Nathan replied. He didn’t want to let any of them know that the pendant was the Tinder. It’s very important for him to get to the truth about who killed his parents.
Though Gwen was dissatisfied with Nathan's earlier behavior, she wasn't angry with him. She understood that there were times when immediate action was necessary, and Nathan's actions had shown his determination to recover the pendant.
“I completely understand,” she said calmly.
Nathan had a lot of questions for Gwen; one was how Gwen knew about him and various other questions, but he knew this was not the time to start asking those questions; he wanted them to get to their destination first.

Meanwhile, Karina had rushed downstairs because her mother had called her, and Mrs. Blackwood wasted no time complaining about the altercation that had just taken place.
“Nathan was a big bully a few moments ago; he slapped James multiple times before leaving with a random woman who I had no idea who she was,” Mrs. Blackwood expressed her displeasure.
“What? Are you sure Nathan did such a thing?” She asked curiously.
“Of course, would I ever lie to you? Look at your brother’s face." Karina looked at James's face and saw that there were traces of hand marks on his cheeks, which signified that he was slapped. Karina couldn't help but feel conflicted. She had wanted to believe in Nathan's innocence, but seeing the marks and the security guard testifying to witnessing the whole thing with other employees that passed by pointed to her ex-husband being the aggressor.
Karina's heart sank as she listened to the accounts of those who had witnessed the confrontation. She had stood by Nathan's side, wanting to protect him from unfair accusations, but now the evidence seemed overwhelming. She could have never imagined that Nathan would do such a thing to his brother or even insult his mother, because over the course of their marriage, Nathan has never once gone against them in that manner.
And hearing that he went away with a woman, some of them had no idea who she was. Karina felt a sinking realization that her actions to protect Nathan might have been ironic. Her trust in him was waning as she contemplated his recent behavior. Even though she separated from him to further improve the success of the company and protect him, which no one knew about, she had believed that Nathan was a genuinely kind person.
“So, what are we going to do to Nathan for what he did? We can’t just let him go without paying for what he did to James,” Mrs. Blackwood complained, gazing at Karina.
"Mom, don’t worry, Nathan will pay for what he did. I am not going to let him off for what he did; I will handle it,” Karina answered boldly. She was done trying to justify Nathan’s actions and wanted to take everything for what it was.
Alex Atwood's persistent pursuit weighed heavily on Karina's mind. He was determined to annex her company, and his unscrupulous methods left her worried about Nathan's safety, which was why she had to temporarily divorce him for his own good. She knew she couldn't let Alex's ambitions jeopardize Nathan.
She couldn't allow Alex's tactics to harm Nathan, and now that Nathan's recent actions have cast doubt on her belief in his character, she never believed that he was capable of such. But Karina didn’t let anybody in on her plan of temporarily divorcing Nathan, as she was still deeply in love with him.
***
Gwen and Nathan finally arrived inside her big house. They were seated on the couches in the large living room, opposite each other.
Different thoughts and emotions were going through Nathan’s mind. The recent events, particularly Karina's decision to divorce him, had left him deeply perplexed. He couldn't help but feel that something was off about the whole thing, that there were aspects of the situation he was not paying attention to. As he thought about the whole divorce, he then recalled that he had been neglecting Karina’s company recently, mainly because he has been uncovering new clues about his parents' deaths and has been occupied with all that, including interrogating Deltrey, the president of the company that created the bomb used to bomb his parents’ plane.
He felt that, amidst all these crises, he was not paying attention to Karina and what might have been going on with her. He quickly took out his phone and sent a message to the private group chat that he created for his subordinates. "Please, I want you all to investigate Karina’s company. I want to know what has been going on that I don’t know about,” he sent.
He didn’t feel that she just suddenly wanted to divorce him out of nowhere because of Alex; he felt that something deeper than that might have led to the divorce, and he wanted to uncover all the secrets to know what actually happened.
At this point, Gwen interrupted Nathan, “I heard that you have the best medical skills; will you be able to save my grandfather’s life from his illness?” Gwen asked calmly.
“I can’t make any promises, but I will do everything in my power to save your grandfather. I will have to see him first before I know what to do,” he answered.
Gwen felt relieved by his words. “I will take you to him soon, but before that, I would like to ask.” Before she could complete the sentence, Nathan cut her off.
“Wait, you have already asked a question; before you ask another, I feel it’s my turn to also ask you some questions, don’t you think?”
Gwen nodded. “Go ahead, ask your questions."
"First, who recommended me to you as a doctor to treat your grandfather?” Nathan asked curiously. Nathan was curious to know because, even though Lothric was a larger city than Beloberg, it was not the capital or economic center. Gwen was just the eldest daughter of one of the richest families, so there was no reason for Gwen to recognize him.
“It was Deltrey Hamel, president of Hamel Group, who recommended you as a doctor for me,” she answered. Nathan’s eyes opened wide, and he wondered why Deltrey would recommend him to her, someone that he kidnapped and bullied for answers.
‘If Deltrey was the one who recommended me to her, he must definitely be up to something; is he trying to set me up?’ Nathan thought.
His cellphone started ringing loudly in his pocket. He looked at the caller and saw that it was Karina. He wondered what she wanted from him as he excused himself from Gwen and went out of the living room to answer the call in the hallway.
“What do you want?” Nathan asked right away.
“Why did you hit my brother? You slapped him several times, and there were multiple witnesses. Why would you do such a thing to James?” She questioned me curiously.
“You should have asked your brother what he did to me,” he answered bluntly. He didn’t want to sound rude towards her. But he thought she knew him better than to assume he did what he did without any solid reason.
“No matter what he did to you, you shouldn’t have hit him. Initially, I didn’t want to believe that you could do such a thing, but I guess I was wrong."“I am not going to go back and forth with you, but I was not in the wrong for what I did; he had it coming, plus you already have what you wanted to believe in your mind, so no matter what I say, you still wouldn’t believe me; you have already made up your mind.” He responded as he hung up the phone and kept it in his pocket. He was angry that Karina was confronting him about the situation.***Meanwhile, inside Karina’s office, she was stunned that Nathan ended the call on her. This was the first time he ended a call with her. ‘What has gotten into him? He didn’t even allow me to speak; he just went ahead and ended the call on me. Or is he mad about the whole divorce?’ she wondered. But she didn’t want to think too much about the whole thing; the most important thing was that she confronted him about what he had done to his brother.
“No, he needs to prove himself; how am I sure that he could treat my grandfather? I don’t want to take any chances,” Emily complained, gazing at Nathan with distrust in her eyes.Nathan moved closer to Emily, gazing into her eyes. “As you wish,” he said calmly.Suddenly, Emily started to lose control over her body as she moved away from Nathan. She tried to scream but realized that she couldn’t say anything as her lips were also sealed. Nathan was the one who cast the spell over her; he used his mind and hands to cast the spell; he was controlling her like a marionette.Gwen noticed that Emily was not talking and was moving back as she wondered what was going on. She looked at Nathan and noticed the hand signs he was making as she realized that Nathan was the one controlling her.“What are you doing to my sister? Let her..." Before she could finish her statement, Nathan cut her off.“Look, this is for you and your family’s own good. Your sister is only going to get in the way of your
Emily intervened, saying, "Let Dr. Floyd examine Granddad and treat him. I think he knows what he's doing. He's more qualified than Nathan. I mean, Nathan couldn't even provide a license for his medical skills. How can we trust someone like that? Don't be stubborn, sis."Another doctor standing next to Floyd added, "Yeah, Dr. Floyd is the best in all of Beloberg. He's more qualified. If you don't want anything bad to happen to your grandfather, let him treat him."Gwen was torn, deep in thought, unsure of what to do. On one hand, she trusted that Nathan knew what he was doing, but on the other, she believed that Dr. Floyd was more qualified than Nathan. She struggled to make a decision. As Gwen pondered her options, Floyd placed his hand on old man Smith, causing half of the formation Nathan had laid down to disappear. Gwen tried to stop him, but it was too late, and he removed the entire formation.Floyd reassured her, "Don't worry, I'm more competent than that doctor you brought her
***Nathan and Gwen were in the back seat of her car, and her driver was driving them over to Nathan’s destination. Gwen felt that it was the least she could do since Nathan saved her grandfather’s life.“I am sorry for everything that happened back there; that stupid doctor came and destroyed your formation. When my grandfather was pronounced dead by that doctor, I thought you were the one who did it because the doctor was putting the blame on you, and I also believed it. I am sorry about that; I shouldn’t have doubted you,” she apologized calmly.“I don’t care about that; what matters is that I was able to save your grandfather just like I promised I would,” Nathan replied in a nonchalant tone. He was not there when they were passing the blame on him, so he didn’t care about anything that she was apologizing for.Hearing that Gwen took a liking to him, as she felt that Nathan was a genuine and good person who didn’t care about what others thought of him. She wanted to associate hers
Moments later, the Smith family bodyguards arrived at the spot where Reynold parked the car. They all came down from the car as Gwen and Nathan also came down.Gwen explained everything that was going on to the bodyguards as she told them that they should go back into their car and follow them from behind. After that, they all went into their respective cars as Reynold started the car and drove off. They arrived in front of a tall building that looked like it had been abandoned.Gwen looked at Reynold as she spoke boldly. “Get down from the car and walk into that alley over there."Reynold wondered why Gwen would ask him to walk into the alley when the attackers wanted him to bring her into the building.“Why should I walk into the alley?” Reynold turned to look at Gwen.“Don’t ask me stupid questions; just do as I said; once you get into the alley, call the attackers to come out."Reynold noticed that Gwen was trying to do things her way and that there was no need to question her as
The leader of the attackers was a bald man with thick muscles that could be seen through his black suit. He swaggered towards Gwen and Nathan, his steps echoing. His eyes beamed with a predatory glint as he looked at her up and down. "Well, well, what do we have here?" he sneered, his voice dripping with arrogance. "Gwen Smith, it’s nice to finally meet you. Come with us, sweetheart. Our boss has been wanting to meet you."Gwen's gaze met the gangsters with a mixture of disdain and defiance. She refused to be intimidated by them. She knew the strength that resided beside her as they were no match for Nathan or his magic powers. With a confident smirk, she replied, "I don't think I'm interested in meeting your boss. Besides, I've got all the company I need right here."“I won’t be asking for a third time; come with us to meet our boss,” the bald man said with his eyes flaring up.“I am not going anywhere with you guys; if your boss wants to see me, he should come here and see me himsel
As the cultivator and the bald gangster began their ominous introduction, the air in the alley became charged with oppressive energy. The black fog surrounding the cultivator seemed to twist with evil, casting a scary glow that accentuated the shadows dancing in the corners. The bald gangster, driven by a mix of fear and awe, shouted compliments about the cultivator's bravery. His words painted a gruesome tapestry of the cultivator's dark deeds – a tally of lives extinguished, a legacy built upon destruction. The alley echoed with tales of the cultivator's cruelty, and it became clear that the forthcoming threat surpassed anything Nathan had faced before.Gwen, caught in the midst of this revealing threat, felt a chill run down her spine. The cultivator's reputation seemed to lead him like a haunting threat, and the fear of the unknown gripped her. It was her first encounter with a force so powerful, and the realization that her body had been manipulated only moments ago increased her
Gwen, caught in the crossfire of power dynamics beyond her understanding, could only watch with anticipation.“You are nothing but a peanut in the cultivator’s eyes; get ready to die, Nathan,” the bald gangster said in a rumbling tone. The ominous black mist that cloaked the cultivator rushed forward, engulfing Nathan in a swirl of shadows. The bald gangster, expecting a display of ruthless power, continued to shout, his voice echoing through the alley, eager for Nathan's demise. Yet, in a surprising turn of events, the cultivator approached Nathan not as an aggressor but as a supplicant. As the mist disappeared, it revealed the cultivator kneeling before Nathan, and the bald gangster's victorious expression changed into one of disbelief. His shouts decreased into a stunned silence, the echoes of his proclamations hanging in the air like lingering specters. The alley, once charged with anticipation, was now quiet like a graveyard.Gwen, standing beside Nathan, shared the bald gangster
***Nathan sat in his dimly lit motel room, the events of the past few days weighing heavily on his mind. With Josh gone and his quest for revenge fulfilled, he felt a strange sense of emptiness gnawing at him. He knew he needed to leave the city for a while, to clear his head and find some semblance of peace to be able to think of his next move.As he pondered his options, an idea struck him like a bolt of lightning. He reached for his phone and dialed Andrei's number, his heart pounding with anticipation."Hello?" came Andrei's voice on the other end of the line."Andrei, it's Nathan," he said, his tone earnest. "I was wondering if I could come and spend some time with you in Romania."There was a brief pause before Andrei responded, his voice tinged with caution. "Nathan, are you sure that's a good idea? After all, you're the one responsible for Andrew's death. It might not be safe for you here."Nathan's heart sank at Andrei's words, the reality of his situation crashing down on h
***Nathan leaned forward in his chair, his expression serious as he addressed his subordinates through the group call. "Alright, listen up," he began, his voice low and commanding. "We've got a job to do, and we need to do it right."The faces of his subordinates appeared on the screen, their expressions reflecting a mixture of determination and anticipation as they awaited his instructions."We're going after Josh," Nathan continued, his tone unwavering. "But we're going to do it on our own terms. We can't afford any mistakes, so we need to be smart about this."One of the subordinates, a burly man with a stern expression, nodded in agreement. "Understood, boss," he said, his voice gruff. "What's the plan?"Nathan leaned back in his chair, his mind racing as he formulated his strategy. "We'll split into teams and approach from different angles," he explained, his voice steady. "I'll give each of you a specific location to rendezvous with Josh, and from there, we'll move in and take

Karina's smile faltered slightly at Gwen's words, her gaze dropping to her hands folded in her lap. "I know, Gwen. It was terrifying," she admitted quietly, her voice barely above a whisper.Gwen reached out, gently placing a hand on Karina's arm in a gesture of comfort. "Karina, you don't have to pretend with me. If something happened, if there's anything you need to talk about…" she trailed off, her voice filled with genuine concern.Karina's gaze lifted to meet Gwen's, her eyes reflecting a mixture of gratitude and apprehension. "Thank you, Gwen. I appreciate that," she replied softly, offering a grateful smile.Gwen squeezed Karina's arm gently before withdrawing her hand, her gaze lingering on her friend's face. "So, do you know who the men were? How did you manage to escape?" she pressed, her curiosity getting the better of her.Karina hesitated for a moment, her gaze flickering with uncertainty. She knew she couldn't reveal the full extent of Nathan's involvement, couldn't risk
As he pressed forward, Nathan heard his name being called out from behind him. Instinctively, he quickened his pace, his heart hammering in his chest. He glanced over his shoulder and caught sight of a figure approaching rapidly."Keep moving," Nathan muttered to himself, his mind racing with thoughts of danger. He didn't recognize the person trailing him, and in that moment, his instincts screamed at him to flee. Before he could react, the figure lunged forward, arms outstretched in an attempt to embrace him. Nathan's reflexes kicked in, and with a swift motion of his hand, he conjured a spell that sent the assailant hurtling backward through the air.The man crashed to the ground with a thud, groaning in pain as Nathan wasted no time in putting distance between them. Karina's heart ached at Nathan's words, her mind flooded with a mixture of emotions. She couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness at the thought that Nathan had been carrying this burden alone for so long, without anyone to confide in."Nathan, you don't have to hide anything from me," she said, her voice filled with sincerity. "I love you, no matter what."There was a brief moment of silence between them, as the weight of Karina's words hung in the air. Then, Nathan spoke, his voice filled with gratitude and relief."Thank you, Karina," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Thank you for understanding."Karina smiled, her heart overflowing with love and gratitude for the man she loved. "You saved my life, Nathan. ***Meanwhile, Nathan's mind raced, the adrenaline still coursing through his veins. Despite the relief of having saved Karina and eliminated the immediate threat of Andrew, he knew that they were not out of danger yet. Andrew's men were still out there, and they needed to be dealt with before they could pose any further harm."Stop the car," Nathan commanded, his voice firm and resolute. The subordinate glanced at him, a hint of confusion in his eyes. "But sir, shouldn't we keep moving? We need to get you and Miss Karina to safety."Nathan shook his head, his expression determined. "We can't just leave those men behind. They're dangerous, and they need to be stopped."Without hesitation, the subordinate complied, pulling the car to a halt by the side of the road. There was something about Andrew that didn't sit right with him, something dark and sinister lurking beneath the surface. But despite his misgivings, Josh knew that he couldn't afford to ignore the connection between Nathan and Andrew. Andrei sighed, the weight of their predicament evident in his voice. "Just promise me you'll be careful, Nathan," he implored. "I don't want to lose you."Nathan's throat tightened with emotion at Andrei's words. "I promise," he vowed, his voice unwavering.
