CHAPTER 34

Jack felt a flush of embarrassment, his cheeks warmed as he realised the delay he was causing. He drew a deep breath while trying to maintain his composure.

“I am sorry; just give me a moment,” he said politely, with his frustration evident in his tone.

“You don’t have money to pay for what you bought, what a shame.” Someone said from the background.

“He is poor; he just wants to show off.” Another person said.

Jack tried to refresh the bank application and then tried again. He could hear the murmuring from the people behind. He didn’t blame them, but himself for being careless.

“If you don’t have money, you get out of here.” Another person sneered.

A familiar figure came out from the crowd when she spotted Jack, she giggled uncontrollably as she took a few steps towards Jack. It was Anastasia, Clara Grant's best friend.

“Why not tell everyone you can’t pay for it? Why claim you have the money when we know you are poor.”

Jack tossed his gaze at the figure, who kept a smiling face. H
