"Come out you all... I can sense you in that darkness." I said as the tune in my voice changed.
"Seriously, Inez, you let that boy drive you home?" Arden said as he shook his head.
"Not now, family... not now." I shushed as I ran to my room. I placed my bag on the bed as I removed the supernatural book. ’Why did you light up earlier? Jada saw you do that, ’ I said, and the book opened itself. It stopped on a page, and I ran my hand through the writing. The Silas brothers were in town. I heaved a sigh. "Next time, don’t light up like that; you almost put my life in danger."
The book flipped pages again and stopped. I ran my hand through it. Oh no, we have to see the council. I said as I left my room immediately and ran down the stairs. "Dad, I will need a ride to the Council region."
"Now?"
"Yes, it’s important!"
"Let me get my keys. I will be back in a few." he said as he ran to his room.
In a few minutes, he was back with weapons in his hand. We all looked at him. "In case we see dangerous things on our way," he opened the door and I followed him to the car. He drove off to the council region.
…
"You are here, just as I had predicted, Inez." the head of the council said as he walked me into his office. He offered me a chair and he sat across. "So, what brings you here?"
"My dad’s car?"
He laughed at my sarcasm. "What brings you here?" he asked again.
"I know you already know why I’m here. You’ve seen my future already through the prophecy."
"You won’t have a future if you don’t feed," he said as he stood up. "The book would have shown you how you died, and that’s why you are here right now."
"Yes, it did, and the Scilas brothers are here in New York."
"I’m not surprised, but Inez, if you don’t feed then this fight will be for nothing...you have four days left and many things can happen during that time...please, think about your family and the people you will save if you possess these powers."
I sighed, "I... I’m scared." I stuttered.
"Why?" he asked, placing his hand on my shoulder.
"I might hurt people if I don’t control my blood lust," I said.
"No, you are scared because you might hurt him. The human boy ... you are in love with him and you will do anything to get him out of the way. Inez Sivan, this boy will be the death of you if you don’t take him out of your life."
"I need to find a way to stop demons from entering this realm."
"The barrier is already weak and they will be coming in here one by one if you refuse to feed and unleash the power you possess. You are more, but you will be more if you unleash those powers you hold."
"I think there is another way for me to avoid death." I walked towards the door. "I will find another way to save people and take the Scilas brothers back to where they belong."
"You can’t cheat fate, Inez, and the prophecy won’t change. And that boy will betray you." he said, and I walked out of the cave with my dad. I wasn’t ready to hear anything bad about Chase. There is another way for me to survive without feeding. I know there is and I will have to find out how.

"I saw her today, you know?" Noah said. "She is pretty."
"I told you not to look for her. She can sense you."
"I don’t think she did, but do you ever think of how handsomely we will be rewarded if we get to take her back to the palace?"
"Noah, we are not the only people up for this mission to look for the princess."
"Well, little brother, luckily for us, we are the only ones who know what she looks like." He placed his hand on Corner’s shoulder.
"But, Noah, what exactly do you think the king wants from his daughter? I mean, he hasn’t met her before."
"Maybe he wants a ruler for his throne, and if the princess is as powerful as you claim, then he wants a soldier by his side."
"That’s strange," Corner said.
"What is it?"
Corner drew his wooden dagger and placed it on Noah’s chest. "Who are you?"
"What do you mean, who am I? I’m Noah." Noah gave a small laugh.
"Who are you? Because Noah isn’t as intelligent as this."
"Hey, what do you mean?" Corner turned his head in the other direction to look at who had spoken, and he saw another Noah drinking blood from his favorite mug.
"Now, that is Noah. Who are you?" he asked again, looking back at the fake Noah in front of him. "I will pierce this wooden dagger in your chest if you don’t shift back to your real form."
The man shifted back immediately. "Kiddo, you can’t be fooled. I was right."
"Dad?" Corner looked shocked. "How did you get into this realm? Nobody invited you, and since you know a lot about Inez Sivan, I think you need to die." Corner pierced the dagger in his father’s chest slowly. "Who sent you?"
"Wait, Corner!" Noah said. "I invited him in; I wanted to know if you were in love with that girl."
"And of all people, you brought him in?" Corner removed the dagger from his father’s chest.
"It was meant to be a test."
"For how long has he been in this house?" Corner asked as he focused on Noah.
Noah began to laugh. "Oh, for as long as you’ve been here." I went on a trip the next day, so he has been here since then, like me, without you knowing."
"Are you going to spy on Inez? Because I guess that’s what you’re good at."
"Father should stay. He knows a lot about King Cain and his weaknesses since he was one of his trusted soldiers. He will help us capture the powerful Inez Sivan."
"You just won’t quit, would you?" Corner let out a sigh. "I don’t want to see him around me," Corner said, and he left for his room.
The thud of thunder was all I could hear as I rolled over in my bed, my pillow covering my ears. It was exactly 5:30am. The smell of the woods came through my open window, and I could also smell humans from a far distance. That doesn’t seem right, unless my fangs were out and that meant trouble. It was more painful this time, as if I had eaten myself up in my sleep. I looked over my bed and my off-white bed sheet was flooded with my own blood. That has never happened, and it was definitely not a dream. I looked in the mirror but I was not bruised, I looked completely normal but one thing was different. My eyes were red, and this was the first time it would bring that color out. It was strange. My mouth started to crave blood as I began to destroy objects in my room. It was as if I was becoming something, but I was trying so hard not to become that thing. The sound woke up my family, and in a few minutes, I heard someone knocking on my door. "Are you okay, sweetie?" Mom said, behind
The book started to glow again as it flipped pages. I couldn’t reach it since I was still tied up in a chair with chains. ’What is it again?’ I asked as it made a sound only I could understand. ’No, not another one of them. What do they want?’ ’Oh, of course, I’m the chosen one and they want my powers.’ The book started to float and dropped on my lap. "Can you get me out of here? Of course not. You are a book. What was I expecting?’ The book stopped glowing. ’Awwn, don’t be sad. I didn’t mean to be unkind, but I really need to get to Chase, so how can I get out of here?’ ’What? You don’t think I can control myself? I love Chase and I can’t hurt him, so I really need to see him one last time if I’m really going to die in two days’ time.’ ’You want me to feed? But bookie, I don’t want that and I don’t want to hurt anyone I love, and I still don’t know why I can’t remember what happened earlier. ’How about you show me?’ It flipped pages and I finally got to see what really happened ea
"Am I getting my personal guard?" I asked and he stood up and walked towards me. "No, she is your age and she is here to help you find the monster and protect you." "But I have Bookie." "Who is Bookie?" he asked. "The supernatural book," I replied. "So you gave it a name?" he asked me as he focused on me. "Yup, he likes it." I smiled. "He? Do you realize it’s just a book?" "Not just any kind of book, it’s a magic and ancient book, which means you should respect it." "Come in here." He said and the door opened. A girl about my height walked in. She was wearing a black leather jacket and faded black jeans with a bow around her shoulder and arrows on her other shoulder. She has long hair, reaching her back length, and what shocked me most was that I was looking at myself in her. A Doppelganger they call it. "Impossible." I whispered as I almost broke down. I swallowed hard. "What’s wrong?" the head of the council asked. "I have a twin sister and you didn’t tell me?" I yelled
Just as I suspected, Arden had already smelled her and was already on my bed. Still shocked. "So, you are saying that you are an Elf? And your mission is to protect my sister from monsters?" Arden asked Este as I entered. "Yes, I am here to serve the chosen one." Arden laughed at Este. "Can you hear yourself? She is the chosen one... which means, she is meant to protect you, not the other way round." Este looked at me then focused on Arden. "Are you sure she can protect herself? I heard she hasn’t even had her first bite and will be dead in two days and you expect me to believe she can protect herself and the whole world?...what a joke." "I’m right here guys," I said as I walked to my bed. "And Arden, get out." "Why don’t you want mom to find out?" he asked. "I ask the same question," Este said as she stood up from the window she was sitting on and jumped down. She walked towards the door and opened it. "Don’t even dare." I looked at her as she closed it and walked toward my bed
"Inez," Denise called, waving as she ran to me. She hugged me with so much joy. "I thought you wouldn’t make it. I was so scared." she released me from her grip. "I’m fine now, really." I gave her a soft smile. Denise looked at the girl next to me. "You made a new friend and..." "She’s my cousin." I cut in immediately. Denise smiled. "That’s great, I’m glad to meet you." she stretched her hand towards Este. "I’m Denise." Este took Denise’s hand into hers. "Este." She said as she removed her hat. "O.M.G!" Denise said slowly. What she saw surprised her. "This is the first time I’m seeing someone’s cousin have the same look as the person...are you sure, she’s not your twin sister?" She asked me but I shook my head. Well, I was also shocked the first time I saw her, and I still haven’t gotten used to it or her. She scares me but when I feel her aura, it makes me want her to stay closer to me. "Well Denise, how about we get ready and set our camp in the woods?" I proposed.
"But Principal Elise, we thought we were going to swim today!" Jada said as she stood up from where she was seated. "We don’t want to hear a story... we are not kids!" she added."You are the only one who disagrees with Jada, no one else... so sit down." principal Elise said. She looked directly at her friend and took Maddie’s hand. "Maddie does." Confused, Maddie looked at the remaining students and back at Jada. "I do?""Yes Maddie, remember?" Jada said. Giving her friend an agreement look."I think it’d be best to sit with the rest of the people tonight and swim tomorrow before we go home.— I mean, it’s getting dark and I am scared and the water will be too cold Jada, unless you are a witch, then you can survive out there alone." Maddie said as she covered her body properly with the blanket around her shoulders. I was sure she wasn’t in the mood for Jada’s company. She wanted to stay and have fun with the rest of the class. Jada felt embarrassed. She scoffed and carried her bag.
The story made the time fly by so quickly. It was nine on dot and people were going into their tents while some were still having fun outside. I felt someone hold my hand and I turned to look at who it was and I smiled the moment I saw him next to me. "I’m sorry about earlier, Jada can be a drama queen but I guarantee you that nothing is going on between us." He said as he handed me a sandwich. "Thanks," I said. I looked at him for a while and smiled again. "I believe you."Did I just read his mind? I guessed I did but Chase wasn’t lying and that alone made me happy. Denise already went to eat in her tent and said she would be back once she is done. I unwrapped the sandwich and took a big bite from it. "Are you going to be traveling this summer?" I asked around a mouthful of food. "Well, first of all, Inez, you need to take it slowly." "Hmm," I said as I nearly choked. "I will be back... let me go and bring water," he said as he stood up. I heard the sound of a demon from afa
"I can sense someone here." A young gorgeous lady said as she drew her sword. A bloodsucker came forward and bowed at her feet. She placed her sword back and focused on him."Master!" He called... "Shall we begin?"The young lady nodded her head twice. Two women walked in front of the barrier holding chains and started to speak in tongues. "Witches!" I said as I looked at Este. "We can’t defeat them." My breathing started to fade. "You are the chosen one, put yourself together," Este whispered as she placed her hair in a ponytail and tied her boot lace tight. "We are ready." She tried to come out of our hiding place but I stopped her quickly."Look closer," I said as she focused on what the demons were doing. "They are trying to break the barrier!" "Exactly... and when they do, we will all die because more demons will be here and we won’t be able to defeat them." "But Inez, we can prevent that by killing all of them in this place and we have to do it now!!!" She yelled as she r
