Same day. Earth.
"Begone I do not want to see you."
Prium shot as quickly as he could. The Nymph let him free of her hold and he fell on his face. He stood up with dirt lacing his nostrils. He cussed and stood tall beside the Nymph. He sideeyed her then back at Prium. He allowed himself to be distracted.
"Vulcan? Isn't he dead?"
He complained as soon as he noticed Vulcan. Vulcan didn't say a word, only watched, he knew his daughter would have a better response.
"From where did you hear that?"
Prium teased, though her face was a contradiction of the fear her heart held. One of the reasons they had meant to live in the forest was to hold back the news of Vulcan's life from the people. But now? The cat had been let out of the bag.
The man didn't allow himself to be foo
Night. "It's a wonder how quickly you returned from the game hunting." Vulcan complemented, keeping his voice as low as he could. The stillness of the note permeated the room for a while as the golden rays which lit the room seemed to respond. He was seated on his bed, the Nymph on hers, while Prium was lying. Twas their dinner time but Prium had only had a little bite of the meat. Vulcan had been ignoring her. He wanted to see how long he could go doing that. The Nymph smiled at his question and threw in his face, "The ways of the Nymphs are odd to mortals." Vulcan made a joke of it though there were a bazillion meanings he could read to it. "And how'd you come about this room?" Vulcan teased again. He sure knew how mysterious Nymphs could b
The Next day. A strange forest. A vision. "Where do you take me?" Vulcan tried as much as possible to keep calm and tame the rage swelling in the depth of his consciousness. He wanted to lay his hands on it but it seemed rather remote so he quit giving it a try and kept hurrying to catch up with the lady. "Athena, speak to me." His voice keen and demanding. Twas dusk in the forest, and the cawing Ravens were beginning to give him the creep. He could hear the call of the crickets and the hooting of owls in distance. He tried to concentrate, not to be swooped by fear of the unknown. The last thing he remembered was that Ayla had made them form a circle then there was gloom, a thick darkness. And after he had been suspended in the gnawing void for a while, he had found himself in that forest. He ha
The cave. Earth. "It's obviously not safe in here anymore." Vulcan started, his back to the cold wall of the cave. There was this current send down his spines by the coziness. But on the contrary, it seemed like he was suspended in the air. Probably by some forces he had no literal definition for. "We can still stay. No place is safe on earth. You make it safe. I could set fire around this place. Gnawing flames that would burn every now and then and scare away both spirits and human threats. I could also make this cave disappear. Twill only be visible to us alone. Or I could --" "Thank you, Ayla. Let's give nature a say. Let's be practical." Vulcan had shot at Ayla to quit the proposals, not because Prium was eating her up with a glare but because even he didn't want to have to always watch his back. &n
Inside a tree. A forest. "Woah." Was only the thing Prium could say. She seemed to had allowed her ego to be crushed by the odds. Her indifferent side had been smothered by the view before her. The waves of the change were too ferocious for her pride to withstand. It didn't stand a chance of survival. Both Prium and Vulcan were standing by the door of the room, backing it. Ayla had taken few steps forward and was already in the heart of the room. "Is this really inside a tree?" Prium made a question of her awe. She obviously couldn't help being quiet anymore. She wasn't sure to whom she had directed the question. "I guess only a Nymph holds an answer to that." Vulcan seemed to find his words at last. Though he hoped that that new environment would make a friend of both
Inside the tree. A forest. "I'll make this quite clear now." Vulcan was seated by a pavement. There was a large apple tree before him. Prium was seated on a stool, while Ayla on the railing bordering the pavement. Well, they were still inside the tree. "I have few tasks before me and I wouldn't want to lag because I have been warned severally." He continued, to be interrupted by his daughter, "By Athena?" He nodded his head instead of words. She seemed to had taken an offense in that. He didn't allow himself to be bothered by that. "Spread your points out, Master." Ayla called from the railing. Prium shot her a glare and looked back at her father. She could let that pass. "I have some games of revenge to play and I wouldn't m
In the village. "Go away, you unfortunate rompers. Unleashed Urchins." Ataola cussed, shooing the two young girls away. The girls looked somewhat 12 years old. And that would be like the hundredth time he had cussed them. At least to get rid of them. "Go again, Mira." The slender girl with locks of hair reaching from both sides of her head urged the robust counterpart. Then the robust one who had been urged, hurried towards Ataola again, rolling like a heavy ball through the earth. Her round legs kicking up dust as she went through the plan till she got to some of the utensils. She squatted at once and swept few of the pans into her round arms and threw them into the air. A sequence of clatter. Ataola hurried to the robust girl before she could stand up. He held her in the lef
Inside a tree. The forest. "Go check, Prium." Vulcan ordered as the knock came on the door again. That was the second time the knock would come. Prium shot her father a glare, and looked at Ayla who was reading through a scroll. She didn't let her irritation hang in the air forever. She argued, "We have an errand girl, let her get the door." Vulcan was raged at that and shot, "Let this be the last time you'd call her that, Prium. She has every thing we don't and yet she's humble." The knock came the third time. Prium scoffed and watched Ayla stand up to go get the door without uttering a word. Prium scorned, "I don't think she's got any choice." Then at once, it seemed as though something just occurred to Vulcan, "Come to t
The Next-day. The village. "Good day, mma." The man dressed in a simple black robe with a small sword tucked in his side called at the middle aged woman washing clothes opposite the lone hut. As soon as the woman raised her head, her face contoured into confusion as soon as he saw the man. She made her worries known through words, "Oh Miargos? I should had sent for you. She's not here." The woman said as she stopped washing. She sat up on the stool, looking towards the man standing few steps away from the door to the hut. She was by the side of the front of the hut to the left. She continued, "She went rogue immediately she lost her father. Your wedding with Prium is no longer a thing. I'm sorry that I gave you my words." There was concern in her face but the fellow was
