The passage through the portal began with a sarcastic wave from me to my demon escorts. They did not seem pleased, but you have to follow orders, especially when the older sister of your boss is being taken into account. It was only when the suction of the portal began to cause me to levitate from the dirty, rock covered floor that I noticed the scars. While my wounds had healed, behind them were dozens of scars on my skin. Everything seemed to function normally, my fingers worked, the leg sustained weight, but I was covered in deep scarring.
That scarring did impose a slight problem, the matter of explaining where they came from and how I had survived whatever situation it was that had found me in my life. My mind immediately went with a wild animal attack, it had to be something big and ferocious. Maybe a grizzly bear that got fended off at the last second before it c
The entire alliance, every single one of them, stood and stared at me with awe in their eyes. I was getting the feeling that not one of them thought I would make it back from the portal to hell, at least not in one piece. Technically they were right but the intensive healing that took place before I entered the portal made me appear to be unharmed and victorious. Just wait until they heard the living torture I had to endure while down in the burning pits of hell. Jennifer could not contain herself and sprinted to me, she was healed from head to toe. The color had returned to her body, nothing appeared to be out of place or deformed. The closer she got, the greener my pendant grew. Safety and security was running at me faster than any human in the history of the world and I could not
Before we continue on to Nurse Helen’s revelation about adult Jackson’s secretary, I needed to finish the details of the visit to hell I had endured, leaving out the adult Jackson part, obviously. I said, “Let me finish really quick because this may come in handy in the future. I could hear Jennifer saying my name the entire time until I was brought into the secretary’s office. That is not the interesting part. Right before we were about to enter the big boss's office, my pendant returned to normal, glow and all, and my hand became inscripted again. I had planned on launching an attack on the boss as soon as the spiked braces were removed but it just did not play out that way.” Todd took an interest in this particular detail as he finished writing in his notepad and injected himself into the story. He was very curious
The group, my alliance, was waiting with bated breath for me to fill in the final details about my unfortunate journey to hell. There was no way to let the group know what I had seen in my final moments as a captive in hell with Jackson in the room, he would not be able to handle the words that were going to come out of my mouth. I took my seat at the table and began to prepare myself for what I had to tell everyone. This was harder than I could have imagined, the pain of knowing what I was about to talk about and let the group know was weighing heavily on my soul. I was not prepared for the possible responses and “solutions” to the issue that was inevitably going to come to fruition unless we had a way to prevent it. I said, “Team, the boss in the final room was not unidentifiable. I could clearly see and identify who I wa
Now that the cat was out of the bag, that Jackson's destiny was possibly set to become a senior manager in hell, the first ever meeting of The Wall was adjourned. Jennifer, Jackson, and I had to get home before my parents returned from the football game. We had about twenty minutes and not too far to go so the urgency was not there yet but that meant we had to leave now and leave the others to resecure the shroud covering the portal so there would not be any more surprises, at least for the rest of the night. As you have all figured out already. The portal is not the only way for the demons to enter the land of the living. That portal, the one I fell into, the one in Mrs. Tannell’s house, was not even there when the demon boy and his mother found their way to me, beginning this entire venture. The thumping still had a meaning and we still had to determine if that meanin
What could possibly come of all this? An officer with his blues flashing three underage kids walking home in the middle of the street obviously not coming home from the game since the roarous sounds of it echoed in the night’s air. Hopefully, we would have a chat and be on our way before we even realized we had stopped. The officer was tall and muscular, we could not see his face. It was dark out and he was behind the blinding lights of his patrol car. All I could make out was a tall man, gun on the hip, and a slight shimmer from a badge over his heart. If he had a partner, they did not exit the vehicle. Lucky for us, the big game was happening, and the red and blue swirling lights did not draw any attention from nosey neighbors or scared little old ladies. Even the oldest of t
Jackson and I joined together to use our sibling's special ability to light up the night's sky as if the sun were at its peak, shining down on every living thing it could reach with its rays of heat. This was all fine and well, except for the fact that my parents had just turned the corner onto our road in the family station wagon. Soulless or not, this was going to take a fair amount of explaining. I knew they were not ready to handle the monumental truth that I was a ghost hunter and Jennifer, and Jackson were with me in an alliance called The Wall. The family station wagon screeched to a halt, sitting cattywampus in the middle of the road just fifteen feet from the three of us, the damaged police car, and the downed officer. In our house, we held a high regard for officers of the law, they performed a very brave duty for little pay but this particular officer was possessed by a
The best plan of action would be to wait until my parents went to bed, which should be soon considering they were just out at a hot long football game, then the three of us, Jackson, Jennifer, and I, would need to stick together and check the house room by room, inch by inch, in search of anything that may be demonic or a way for the demons to interact with our normal human lives. From what the demon that possessed Officer Michaels, it was apparent that some sort of adaptation was taking place to where the demons were able to protect themselves from some of our weaker powers. My mother was slowing down by the second as she hand washed the dishes from the late night dinner she put on for the officer in need. My father, well, he was dozing off on the couch holding the day's paper ever so slightly. It was sagging so much that it was basically a blanket for him if he were to remain on the couch for the rest of the night. Jennifer, Jackson, and I waited pa
The time had come, it was finally the time to begin our search. The office adjacent to my room was going to be our first test. I was going to heavily rely on my pendant and its reaction when we were searching. The pendant that Mrs. Tannell had given me had yet to fail to warn me of impending doom and I knew I could trust it in this situation. There was an urgency to this mission, but we had to be very methodical as to avoid any potential disasters. My parents had finally fully gone to bed now, the light that was glaring out from under their door from the television had gone dark and remained that way. The television was off, and I could hear my father already rhythmically snoring. If I did not know any better, I would like there was some sort of small engine machine running in there or a wild animal was loose. He snored terribly loud but since I did not share a bedroom with him, it was very comical to me. I grabbed the flashl
