chapter 10 : accident Part 2

"Where were you, buddy!?" Max asked as he looked at his friend who had just entered the house.

Michael grabbed a glass of water from the breakfast table and said while taking a sip, "I ran a little!"

Max raised his eyebrows and said, "You ran? Strange! I didn't know you liked running..."

Michael shrugged, "Well, I need to train my body a bit to adapt to the new strength, as you know..."

Max smiled and said, handing a cup of coffee to Michael, "I envy you, buddy. I'm thinking of finding a wolf and testing my luck... hahaha."

"I'm afraid you'll get rabies instead of what you want," Michael mocked while drinking his coffee. He looked around and asked, "By the way, did Aunt Sophie go to work?"

Max nodded, "Yes..."

Michael placed the coffee cup on the table and then said, holding a small knife from the kitchen without noticing Max, "Well then, let's go to work as well..."

Max nodded and they both went out, closing the door behind them. Suddenly, Max heard the sound of a motorcycle engine behind him.

He found Michael standing near his motorcycle, walked up to him, and asked in astonishment, "Hey, when did you fix it!?"

"Oh, it seems I forgot to mention this. I fixed it in the morning," Michael replied while getting on the motorcycle. He added as he started riding, "Don't just stand there like a fool..."

Max shook his head and got on behind Michael, asking, "so !Where ... !?"

Michael was looking at the interface of the hidden system.

"I have 6 points, one point I had saved earlier, 3 points from the mission, and two points from training..." Michael said, snapping out of his thoughts when he heard Max speak.

"Let's go to Ninth Street, I need to buy some equipment," Max said.

Michael had no comment on the matter. He revved his motorcycle and headed towards the street Max mentioned. As for the points, Michael didn't feel the need to increase his attributes in front of Max. It wasn't that he didn't trust Max, but unfortunately, recent events had changed his personality a little.

"We're here, we've arrived," Michael said as he removed his helmet.

Max dismounted the motorcycle and said as he removed his helmet, "Wait here for a moment..."

Max stopped talking when he heard a familiar sound approaching them.

"Yo! Isn't that max ?!" Both of them turned around to see the person speaking.

"Oh! Kei, is that you, buddy?"

Max shook hands with the tall young man in front of him and spoke in a friendly tone, as if talking to an old friend.

Kei was in his mid-twenties with long black hair in a ponytail. His dark skin would have made it difficult to see him if it weren't for his green eyes.

From a distance, Michael saw the serious exchange between Max and Kei.

"This person is carrying a firearm!" Due to his enhanced senses, Michael's enhanced vision allowed him to see that the right side of Kei's jacket was slightly bulging, and if one focused, they could make out the shape of a gun.

"Despite my current strength, I am weak against bullets. I have six available points. It seems I'll have to change the equal distribution plan between attributes," Michael thought.

Michael looked at the agility and defense attributes. "If I increase my speed, I'm sure I can avoid bullets, but I have a hunch that the defense attribute needs enhancement," he concluded.

Michael stopped staring at the system interface and looked at Max, who approached him with an unpleasant expression.

"Michael, lend me $10. That greedy man..." Max pointed to Kei without turning around. "He raised the price of the product again..."

Michael raised an eyebrow with a frown and asked while taking out a dollar bill from his pocket, "Find someone else. Don't buy from him. It's not like he's the only one selling in this city."

"By the way, what are you buying?"

"It's a piece for one of the devices in the workshop. It's a rare piece, and so far, this man is the only one we've found selling it."

Michael nodded understandingly.

He looked at the exchange between Max and the man with blurry eyes, thinking about his next move when he arrived in Los Angeles.

"Let's get out of here," Max said as he came after and held a cardboard box in his right hand.

Michael put his thoughts aside and left the place.

Michael and Max rushed on the motorcycle through the empty street, trying to reach the workshop. Michael was driving, and Max sat behind him.

Suddenly, they saw a small truck approaching them from the right side. Before they could avoid it, they felt a violent impact that threw them off the bike. The truck had run a red light and hit the motorcycle forcefully, crushing it beneath its wheels. Michael and Max were thrown into the air, injured and broken, before landing on the asphalt with a loud thud.

Not far from the accident, the truck came to a stop, not continuing its journey. Motorcycle parts were scattered everywhere.

Michael couldn't move , he only felt pain and shock. He saw Max's blood-covered face beside him and tried to reach out to him, but he found no strength. He weakly called out his name. Michael clearly felt that his left arm was broken and he had scratches all over his body.

This was not a random coincidence. It was an intentional accident caused by one of the people who hated Max and Michael the most. The door of the small truck opened, and Leo, who had been observing Michael and Max's movements for a while, got out. He had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to execute his plan, and when he saw the motorcycle passing in front of him, he didn't hesitate to step on the accelerator and collide with it.

He believed that he had succeeded in his mission. He walked steadily and confidently, slowly pulling out his black gun. Michael, who felt a chill running through his body, had a sixth sense. He gritted his teeth and looked around before his gray eyes, filled with red veins, settled on Leo, who held the gun.

"It's the same person who was chasing Max last night..." Michael realized.

He felt his life was in great danger, something he hadn't felt even when he was facing the vampire.

Before he could react, a screen appeared in front of his eyes...
