The narrow passage they had been following gradually widened, revealing a sight beyond imagination.

Before them lay a massive cavern, its walls shimmering like gemstones. A blue glow emanated from the crystals embedded in the ceiling, casting a magical atmosphere. In the center of the cavern, a silver lake reflected the light, creating the illusion that they were standing beneath a starlit sky.

But the most striking sight of all was the enormous figure resting at the heart of the cave.

A colossal dragon, its scales as black as the night, and eyes glowing blue like the stars. Elden felt his heart stop for a moment.

The last dragon.

Elden stepped forward cautiously, while the others remained on guard.

The dragon opened its eyes, staring at them with an unreadable expression. “At last, you have arrived, Heir of the Dragon Blood.”

The voice did not come through their ears but resonated directly in their minds, deep and echoing like the voice of nature itself.

Elden swallowed hard, trying to steady himself. “Are you… the one we’ve been searching for?”

The dragon slowly rose, its massive form causing the air in the cavern to tremble. Every movement exuded an overwhelming aura of power.

“My name is Valtherion. I am the last remaining dragon in this world.”

Renard let out a low whistle. “So this is it… what we’ve been looking for.”

Vaelis stepped beside Elden. “If you truly are the last dragon, then you must know why we’ve come.”

The dragon nodded slowly. “I do. You seek the truth about the dragon blood… and how to stop Malagar.”

Kaelar remained vigilant. “Then will you help us?”

The dragon remained silent for a moment before locking eyes with Elden, its gaze so intense it sent chills down his spine.

“Before I answer that… you must answer my question first.”

Elden nodded. “Ask.”

The dragon lowered its head slightly, its glowing eyes piercing directly into Elden’s soul. “What will you do… if the power of the dragon blood within you cannot be controlled?”

Silence filled the chamber.

Elden felt his throat go dry. This was a question he had never truly considered before. Until now, he had only focused on how to use the dragon blood’s power to survive and fight Malagar. But what if that power became something he couldn’t control?

Vaelis looked worried. “Elden…”

Kaelar narrowed his eyes, studying Elden carefully.

Renard crossed his arms. “I’d like to know the answer to that too.”

Elden clenched his fists. He knew this wasn’t just a question. It was a test. Finally, after several moments that felt like an eternity, Elden answered with a steady voice.

“If this power cannot be controlled… then I will find a way to control it.”

The dragon remained still, gazing deeper into him. “And if you fail?”

Elden bit his lip. He knew that failure could mean disaster. If he couldn’t control his power, he could become a threat to the very people he wanted to protect. But he couldn’t let fear stop him.

“I will not fail.”

“And if you do?” the dragon asked again.

Elden lifted his head. “Then I will do whatever it takes to stop myself.”

A heavy silence filled the cavern.

Then, Valtherion let out a sound that resembled a deep, rumbling chuckle.

“A good answer.”

After a moment, Valtherion’s gaze softened.

“Very well, Heir. I will tell you the truth about the dragon blood.”

The dragon raised one of its claws and touched the surface of the silver lake at the center of the cave. Golden-blue light shimmered, forming images that moved like memories from the past.

“Dragon blood is not just power. It is a legacy.”

Within the light, Elden and the others saw visions of ancient dragons coexisting with humans in a time long past. These dragons shared their power with a select few whom they trusted.

However, not all humans could withstand it.

Some went mad, losing control of their bodies, transforming into monsters consumed by their thirst for power.

“That is what happened to Malagar.”

Elden held his breath.

“Malagar was once an heir of dragon blood as well.”

Everyone fell silent.

“No way…” Vaelis murmured.

Valtherion nodded. “He carried the dragon blood within him, but he failed to control it. Instead of accepting it as part of himself, he sought to steal more power through the wrong means.”

Renard furrowed his brows. “By hunting dragons?”

“Yes. He believed that if he could absorb the power of other dragons, he could achieve immortality.”

Kaelar clenched his fists. “So that’s why he’s hunting the last dragon… to steal your power.”

Valtherion nodded.

Elden felt his blood run cold. “If I have dragon blood like him… does that mean I could end up like Malagar too?”

The dragon gazed at him deeply. “That depends on the choices you make.”

Before Elden could process everything, the ground suddenly trembled.

Valtherion immediately turned toward the tunnel they had entered from, his eyes glowing sharply.

“He is here.”

Everyone tensed.

In the distance, the sound of footsteps echoed… followed by a cold, menacing laughter that reverberated through the cavern.

“So, you’ve finally found him.”

A dark silhouette appeared at the mouth of the tunnel, his cloak billowing from an unseen force.

Malagar.

His glowing red eyes locked onto Valtherion with burning desire.

“The last dragon… finally within my grasp.”

Valtherion let out a deep, threatening growl, his body tensing. “You will gain nothing from me, Malagar.”

Malagar smirked, then turned his gaze to Elden.

“And you, little heir… are you ready to lose everything?”

The air crackled with magic. The long-awaited battle… was about to begin.

...

The atmosphere inside the cave grew tense. Malagar stood at the entrance, his black cloak billowing as magical energy swirled around him. His glowing red eyes radiated a bloodthirsty aura, as if ready to devour anyone who stood in his way.

“At last, Valtherion,” his voice was deep and arrogant. “I have been waiting for you all this time.”

Elden felt his heart pound faster. He gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, trying to restrain himself from attacking immediately.

Valtherion, the last dragon, lifted his head gracefully, his eyes shining with authority. “Malagar, you will not claim my power.”

Malagar smirked. “We shall see about that.”
