Ancient book

"Why doesn't this book have any cultivation knowledge?"

"What is this book exactly?" Fen Lian asked herself.

During the past twenty minutes or so, she didn't see any theories about cultivation, only a collection of the same moves she had learned before. It made Fen Lian feel bored with the book in front of her.

The thick book with old Roman writing inside managed to irritate her because she was very curious to see what was inside. But once he had seen it, it turned out that the big book only contained the moves he had learned.

"Never mind, I'm already lazy with this book. I'd better look for another book and see if I can find one about cultivation; it'll give me more knowledge about cultivation," Fen Lian said.

After that, she got up from her seat and looked for a few more books on cultivation. Fen Lian looked for the book on the shelf that contained a bunch of books about cultivation. It was easy to find books because her father had placed them according to their titles and types. In addition, each shelf had its own name, so it was easy for anyone who searched to find what they were looking for.

Fen Lian's fingers sorted through the books she was aiming for; a row of cultivation-type books was already in front of her eyes. But until now, Fen Lian was still confused about which book to take so that she could study it later.

"There are so many books on cultivation, but I have no idea which ones are worthy of my time," she muttered as she sorted through the books.

Until right in front of Fen Lian's eyes, she saw a large, thick book with a worn blue cover. Somehow, Fen Lian's confusion disappeared instantly when she saw the book in front of her. Without hesitation, Fen Lian grabbed the book and brought it back to the reading bench beside the shelf. She juxtaposed the big book with the dictionary she had previously picked up.

The cultivation book was still the same as the previous one; the writing used on the book was ancient Roman. Perhaps all the books in this room could have contained ancient Roman writing, just like his father, who was an ancient person. It was obvious that the book he was holding must have ancient Roman characters.

Fen Lian had only been reading the cultivation book for a few minutes. Suddenly, the door opened, causing a loud noise. Fen Lian was startled and closed the book in front of her.

"Fen Lian!"

"Uncle!"

It was her uncle. Fen Lian immediately got up from her seat and looked at her uncle in fear. Moreover, this uncle now had the same fierce face as when he left her in the front yard earlier.

"What are you doing here? You're here instead of practicing seriously," the uncle said sternly.

"I'm reading a book, uncle; who knows if it can increase my knowledge so that I can cultivate it?" Fen Lian explained.

Uncle's gaze immediately fell on the book on the table. Unceremoniously, he brushed the large book on the table aside.

"You don't need a book; it's useless to read a book if you don't practice. I've prepared a teacher for you to practice with; now I need you to get dressed and practice!" He ordered.

Hearing this, Fen Lian immediately frowned. "Teacher? What did you get a teacher for? I don't need a teacher because I already have one!" Fen Lian replied firmly.

The teacher smiled sarcastically at this statement. "What did you say? No need for a teacher? How arrogant of you!"

"If you don't need a teacher, you should have passed your cultivation, so why didn't you make it? That means your teacher is incompetent at educating you!" Uncle said sternly:

Hearing her uncle belittle her teacher, Fen Lian instantly felt angry with her uncle. She did not accept that her teacher had insulted her like this.

"Watch what you say, uncle! I will never change teachers; after all, you've taught me well. It's just that fate hasn't favored me yet because my intentions might still be wrong!" Fen Lian replied.

"What wrong intentions? What intentions do you have?"

"I should be like a father, wanting to become a warrior because I intend to help others. Not using our knowledge to serve the king and earn a decent living. We should be serving God, the owner of everything, who is clearly capable of providing a decent living!"

The uncle clenched his hands into fists as he glared at his nephew with emotion. "Watch what you say! Do what you're told and don't talk too much!"

"One more thing: you must be a warrior to enter the kingdom! No exceptions!" He replied firmly.

Fen Lian smiled wryly at her uncle's words. "I don't care; I won't obey Uncle's words no matter what."

"What do you mean, Fen Lian?"

"I'd rather not become a warrior than become a warrior, but only to serve humans; I don't want to!" Fen Lian replied firmly.

"WATCH WHAT YOU SAY!"

"What? What do you want? Hit me again? Please, I'm not afraid!"

"WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE, FEN LIAN!"

PLAK.

Fen Lian smiled as she held the corner of her lip that was bleeding from her uncle's rough treatment. After that, Fen Lian stared sarcastically at her uncle without any fear at all.

"Remember, uncle, I will never serve the king because they will not be able to give me a peaceful life forever. Indeed, they dare to give us everything, but they will also treat us as they wish. Maybe life is worthy only for uncles, not for me, who struggles to continue to serve them!" Fen Lian replied.

The uncle clenched both his hands very tightly. He had to be able to make Fen Lian obey him and do what he told her to do, including serve the king. One of the family's only hopes was for Fen Lian to be the youngest and able to learn martial arts.

"Uncle doesn't want to know that right now you have to train or he won't consider you a nephew anymore!" Threatened uncle.

Fen Lian wasn't afraid of the threat; instead, she felt challenged by her uncle's words.

"I'm not afraid of anyone. I don't care if you don't consider me a nephew," she replied.

"You dare with Uncle?"

"Yes! I'm not afraid of anyone, including my uncle! As long as the path I'm taking is the right one, why would I be afraid? I'd rather leave here than be depressed mentally and physically!" Fen Lian spoke confidently.

After saying that, Fen Lian immediately looked down and grabbed the books that had fallen on the ground, then carried them outside, leaving the uncle, who was still frozen in place, staring at Fen Lian's departure.

"Fen Lian! Stop!"

She heard the shout, but Fen Lian chose to ignore her uncle's shout and continued on her way.
