Back to the temple

Fen Lian walked out of the martial arts training hall in Lime Lake while carrying her clothes in a backpack. This time, Fen Lian was determined to leave Lime Lake and return to her pavilion for the time being. She felt a heavy heart as her feet stepped away from the training hall. Previously, Fen Lian had said goodbye to teacher uncle and told him to go back right now, but teacher uncle had originally forbidden Fen Lian to leave now. But since Fen Lian was adamant to go back right now, inevitably the teacher uncle could only support Fen Lian whatever the risk would be; he must have thought everything through.

The longer the footsteps went, the farther away from Limau Lake they became. Fen Lian wandered unsteadily by the small bridge connecting the roads in the city. She was unwilling to leave Lime Lake, as it had been her home for the past few years. She had lived so long that she had become one with the atmosphere of her current home. But now he was forced to return to his original home in Jiangnan. It wasn't easy, but she couldn't help but return. Even though Fen Lian knew the risks she'd have to face when she arrived at her home, it was bound to be insulting again because she'd come back with bad news.

All this time, Fen Lian's relatives had hoped that she would return as a warrior with great cultivation skills, but fate was not on her side. Fen Lian had already begun to worry about her situation when she arrived at the residence.

Fen Lian walked along the riverbank outside the city. On the river were small fishing boats that also acted as ferries for passersby. It was currently spring, so the boats were full of visitors. That was a big difficulty for Fen Lian, so she quickly went back to looking for other ways to travel until she reached her home. Until she found a fisherman with his ship docked.

This boat with black sails was right beside Fen Lian. It was quite a mystery why this one boat was not inhabited by anyone at all. On the river, the fisherman was lying on his back, face covered by a straw hat, with gray hair sticking out. Fen Lian sat beside him while waiting for the old man to wake up.

However, until Fen Lian was beside the old man for a few seconds, he did not wake up. Fen Lian was tired of the man, so she pulled her straw hat away from her face, panting and looking at him with hostility. "Tsk! Damn it! Can't you let me sleep in peace?" He asked.

Fen Lian was not afraid at all. "Sorry, old man, will you do business with me?" Asked Fen Lian.

The fisherman cursed at Fen Lian. "Hey little kid! What do you know about business? Be polite to your elders!" He said.

Fen Lian frowned. "What does the old man mean? I'm just offering you a business, but if you don't want it, that's fine. I saw that your boat has no one using it at all, so I was thinking of asking you to cooperate, but it looks like you don't want to." Fen Lian explained.

The old man was not interested in Fen Lian's offer at all. He just stared lazily at Fen Lian while reaching for the straw hat.

"Tsk! I'm not interested at all. Besides, I see you are still young; do you have money?" Asked the old man a little mockingly.

Hearing this, Fen Lian unceremoniously took the cloth bag that was in the bag containing her clothes. After that, Fen Lian showed the bag of money to the old man.

"I have money; if the old man doesn't believe me, just open it like my money is enough to take me across this river," she said.

The old man took a quick peek at the bag of money without wanting to take it or look directly at its contents. Only then did the old man look confidently at Fen Lian as he asked her the purpose.

"Where are you going? Is it a long trip?" Asked the old man.

Fen Lian smiled at the old man's question. "Not really, sir, just in Jiangnan over there." Fen Lian said while pointing forward.

"It doesn't seem so far; if you just give me a hundred yuan, I will take you back."

Fen Lian was stunned to hear that statement. "Can't it be less? I'm just a kid who wants to go back to my hometown; doesn't the old man want to help me go back?" Asked Fen Lian pleadingly.

The old man chuckled softly. "Tsk! Get on!" He pleaded.

"Really?"

"Hurry up! If you don't have money, you should just stay at home and not go out! You little kid!" She quipped.

Fen Lian heard the sarcasm, but she chose to remain silent and focus on her current path. She didn't care what this old fisherman said to her; the important thing was that she could go back with just enough money.

The small boat Fen Lian was on slowly began to make its way to the center, avoiding the shore. The old man rowed his canoe leisurely, and Fen Lian enjoyed this trip well without any talk.

The journey lasted about thirty minutes. The small, fragile, and worn-out boat managed to carry her across the long, wide river that separated Jiangnan and Limau Lake. As soon as the boat stopped, Fen Lian brought her luggage down with her. Not forgetting to pay the old man first, after all the business with the old man was done, Fen Lian walked through the city that she had left so long ago. There was a slight feeling of longing, sadness, and happiness. Everything conspired into one.

Fen Lian ran out of money to pay the old man, so she walked to reach his residence. About twenty minutes into her walk, she arrived right in front of a simple ancient temple.

"It's still the same as before," muttered Fen Lian as she looked at the temple intently.

Not long after, a young man who had just come out of the temple He looked very impressed to see Fen Lian in front of the shrine.

"Fen Lian!" He called out reflexively.

Fen Lian, who heard this, smiled. "Uncle," she called softly.

"You're back? Why are you coming home? Aren't you still training?" Uncle asked repeatedly.

This made Fen Lian feel a little offended and scared. He was Fen Lian's uncle, the younger brother of her dead father.

"It's a long story," Fen Lian said.

That made her uncle frown. "What's going on?" He asked curiously.

"Don't tell me you failed." He asked again.

Fen Lian smiled wryly.

"You failed?" Asked again.

Fen Lian nodded. "Yes, I failed!" She replied confidently.

Plak!

"FOOL! STUPID KID! "Why did it fail?"
