“What?” Rachel and Linda gasped in shock, staring at the woman, expecting her to take back her words, but she didn't look like it. Rather, she looked as though if she was being asked to defend what she just said, she would do it with a full chest.“Is it okay if I come with you?” Grandmother said as carefully as she could, as she couldn't read Harrison’s expression. The latter was shocked, but his expression told her more. He was in a place to reject her offer, and she was sure of it.However, she didn't know the reason that drove her to the sudden urge of wanting to follow him. But she knew if she stayed with these people she called family she would either die sooner or later.“Is that what you want?” Harrison replied. He had no grudges against her, even though she had done him wrong. He had a soft spot for her because she was old and had a few years to live. If not for that fact, he wouldn't even bat an eye when she called out to him.“Yes, please. Yes, I want to come with you.” The
Arriving at an eight-star hospital, Harrison took Grandmother in his arms and ran into the hospital. Her weight was nothing to him as held her and was running as though he wasn't carrying anything. The woman's condition turned worse all of a sudden and he feared she might not make it, so he had to drive fast to the hospital.“Just try to breathe. I will get you to the doctor.” He assured her as he then pushed the door to the entrance so hard that a crisp sound echoed around the place. It was as though the door would be ripped off its hinges, but then it only flung open and Harrison walked in with the old woman.Quickly the nurses who saw this pushed a stretcher towards him, and he dropped her gently on it. “Take care of her, please.” He pleaded with the nurses, looking nervous as he also helped them push the stretcher heading towards a ward.“Don't worry sir. She will be in good hands.” The nurses assured him and soon after they arrived at a ward, they took over and left him outside.
Their eyes glinted with curiosity as they turned to look at the machine that just made a beep sound. They could see a sign signifying there was a pulse. The line was moving slowly, and the beep sound echoed again.Beep! This time the pulse increased from just a beep to two, and then there was more. The machine gave a reading and everyone stared at each other, dumbfounded. The woman was now breathing compared to before, and it felt like a miracle just happened.“Is she alive?” Harrison's eyes widened as he thought his senses were playing tricks on him and wanted someone to snap him back to reality or tell him that what he was seeing was true. His body kept vibrating until the doctor held his hand.“Sir, I think you have performed a miracle!” The man smiled as he grabbed his shoulder and kept jerking Harrison continuously with a smile that couldn't fade away on his face.Just now he was doing the opposite of what he was doing, choking Harrison violently, but now he was praising him che
“My husband, Francis, has been so greedy, especially in times of trying to acquire wealth. Caroline's parents were his best friends, yet he plotted to take over their company. I tried to stop him. I tried to talk some sense into his head, but he never listened to me.” Grandmother explained, and he could feel the truth in her words. Also, there was a fact that she wouldn't think of lying to cover things up when she knew he could find out just like how he found out the secret in the first place.“I apologize for what he did. Maybe I should have reported him back then, but I didn't have an option. Ooh, what am I even saying?” She paused as she realized if she kept on talking, it wouldn't lead anywhere. She wasn't making sense. Why try to make herself look righteous when it was done already? “I apologize for all the trouble my family has caused you.” She said instead and Harrison sighed. She wasn't making sense at first but even at that, he allowed her to vent all that was on her chest u
“Don't insult her like that?” Caroline said and there was a shade of anger occupying the upper side of her face giving her a terrifying appearance.“After what she had done to me? Humiliated me in front of everyone. She made me look dumb when she refused to give me those shares at that time and the worst of it was that she also knew the truth about my parents, yet she never said anything!” Caroline grumbled harder. She was shocked to see Harrison had changed from how he used to be. Wasn't he the one who said he was going to get justice for her? Though he did, she didn't expect him to welcome those who were considered enemies.Hearing all this, Grandmother didn't even try to say anything, as she knew she was guilty. As Caroline said those words, everything refreshed back in her head and she felt a needle in her heart.“Caroline, you have to cool down. We can talk this out.” Harrison gestured for her to take a deep breath to calm herself. He expected her to be angry, but not to this poi
“What do you mean by that? Who am I?” Caroline asked, looking shocked by his sudden question after he narrowed his eyes at her.“I said, who are you?” Harrison was firm and vigilant. This woman here looked like his wife, but he was sure she wasn’t his wife. As her husband, he knew her better than anyone since they shared the same home for years. All the attitude, all the rage, all the yelling didn’t sound like what his wife would do. It made him begin to think something was wrong somewhere.“What are you saying, Harrison? Isn’t that Caroline?” Grandmother stepped in, and she couldn’t understand what Harrison was saying. As she could see, it was Caroline who was standing there, but Harrison was saying something different.“Think about it. Have you ever seen Caroline behave in such a way?” Harrison looked at grandmother as he said, and the woman mulled over her thoughts. She felt Harrison was right but then people change. With all the pain, Caroline had gone through, it was expected tha
“What did you just do?” Harrison turned towards her, grumbling. His eyes turned red as he sparked. His aura filled the air with killing intent, and he looked like a bomb that would soon explode.“I did what I have got to do!” Rose replied with a smirk, swinging the gun in the air. She knew he had mad skills and was careful to not drop the gun. Since she had it, she had the upper hand here. Even with his fighting skills, there was no way he would be able to cover the distance between them before she could shoot him.“Ahhhh!” Harrison rushed to the woman to check her pulse just so he could know if she was still alive or maybe if she could be saved, but there was nothing. Her body was slumped to the floor and had no life in it.Realizing there was no way he could save her, he stood up, clasping his hand tight as he faced Rose.“You will pay for what you have done!” He wanted to lunge at her, but she pointed the gun at him, and he was forced to stop.“Careful!” She warned smirking, and he
The sound of gunshots filled the place, but then a metal collision also occurred. Rose's eyes widened in shock as she expected to put bullet holes in Harrison, but rather what was before her was the steeled bed.Right before she pulled the trigger, Harrison dragged the bed towards his way and shoved it in front to serve as a shield. The bullet came in contact with the bed instead and made a kind of deafening sound.“Stop acting like a rat. Come and face me!” She yelled, but he didn’t move from where he was. “Are you scared of me now? I thought you were someone fearless but guess I was wrong. You are just the trashy son-in-law you have been all those years!” She added intending to rile him up into giving himself out, but then he was no fool to know what she was intending to do.Seeing he wasn’t coming out, she could have approached him but for fear of being attacked, she didn't.“You asshole!” She sneered and kept firing at the bed continuously.“That’s enough!” Harrison said with his
Thank you all for taking your time to read this book. It had been a long journey of ideas and I am so grateful to have been able to walk down the path and bring my ideas into reality. Though I am not sure if I am that good but I have confident that I will improve and do more in my next books. Please I want you to anticipate and give it a try. Hopefully, with your support I will be able to bring something nice and create more interesting scenes.Lastly, please don’t forget to comment on the book. Let me know if you have been following and if you liked it.
“You must have thought you were way too smart to be dealt with. You got me so bad that I thought I was done for. I have never faced an opponent like you and for that, I’ll give you a ten. You are damn good!” Harrison said with a hint of mockery in his tone and Edward became pissed. However, he tried to think about what went wrong to make his plan fail and how it was so hard for him to figure out what was going on. In a thousand years, he would never expect someone as low as Ramon to be able to exceed him in intellectual strategy.“What? Don’t tell me you are spacing out at such times. And why weren’t you able to figure out what was going on? I mean, you have cameras watching, don't you?” Harrison said sarcastically.Edward felt pressured and it felt like the right time for Harrison to make it harder on him. After all, Harrison suffered the same fate earlier.“How did I not figure this out?” Edward finally said, scolding himself.“Because you are so dumb to notice.” Harrison fired at h
Being indoors for a long while had made their senses a bit shaken off and when they had to adjust to a sudden brightness, they couldn’t help but blink their eyes multiple times.Everyone was shocked to see someone had walked into a room. An unknown someone they didn’t know but were so desperate to see his face, yet their sight was failing to adjust to the light. However, after the figure spoke, every single effect of the sudden brightness was washed off and replaced with curiosity.Starting from the leg, everyone scanned the figure from the toe, slowly heading to his face. When they arrived at the finish point, they all nearly fell on their backs.“Ramon?” Everyone yelled seemingly as though they had seen a ghost. It had to be a ghost right, or maybe their senses were playing tricks on them? They just couldn’t figure it out as their jaws were wide open, almost dropping to the floor.“Jesus Christ! What the hell is this?” Edward yelled, shaking his head from side to side to see if ever
Back inside the small cabin in the rural area.Edward and the others were seated on the couch watching the Television. They weren’t watching the news but something else. There were some wireless connected cameras fixed in some certain place while the television displayed each of those scenes that happened in each place Furthermore, there was a remote control in Edward’s hand, and he was able to make each scene that was showing in a mini spot on the screen occupy the whole screen, so everyone could have their view of what was happening.Right there, on the screen, it was showing that Harrison just walked into the hospital ward. Not only could Edward and the others watch what was going on, but they were able to hear the conversation that was going on.Meanwhile, Larry who was seated at the far end of the room was enjoying the show the most since he was the one who delivered the flower directly to her. He played his part so well that she was unable to recognize him. Of course, he was pu
“Linda right?” Caroline asked, and the delivery man nodded at her before handing the flowers to her. She extended her hand and grabbed the vase. It was such a perfect piece as it had an ancient drawing sculptured on it. The material looked like glass, yet it was made of wood. The way it was polished alone was unique and must be a very costly piece. At once glance, Caroline took notice of it but what she was more invested about was how nice the flowers were. She couldn't resist the urge to dip her nose into it and allow the fragrance to waft into her nostrils.Bang!Just then the door was pushed open and Lucas pushed his head in. The moment he saw her with flowers he was shocked as he knew it wasn't there before and it wasn't like he saw anyone bring it in.That was when Caroline pulled out of the enjoyable feeling she was in. Her mind ran back to the lad who brought the flowers, and she wanted to thank him but after looking she noticed he was nowhere to be found. Rather, there was Lu
“Hello sis, how are you doing?” Linda's voice rang through the phone as soon as the call was picked up, and the receiver was left in shock. It took a while and there was no response. Nervously, Linda peeked glances at the phone to see if it was disconnected, but it wasn't.“Caroline? Are you there?” She called out again before a reply came through.“What do you want?” Caroline replied seemingly disgusted. “Are you calling to make more trouble? Remember I don't have that time at the moment, please.” She concluded and wanted to end the call when Linda spoke.“I am sorry.” She said and shockingly, Caroline couldn't bring herself to hang up. The words she just heard were too good to be true, yet it didn't feel like she was dreaming.Linda just apologized? Caroline started doubting her senses. She was unable to let herself fall for such a trap like before. She had witnessed too much and it was energy draining. Her stepmother pointed a gun at her and would have killed her if not for a mira
“Shit! The police department?” Whitman murmured the words out, as he would rather not be noticed by the caller. Moreover, everyone had their guard up thinking the place was surrounded by the police. There wasn’t any siren sound or any movement, so it must be an unnoticeable operation, right? Those were the thoughts that were running inside their heads as quickly Larry and Raymond took a peep at the window but there was no one outside. They felt a sigh of relief, but that didn’t quench their suspicion. They knew not to let their guard down. Never.“Yes, who am I speaking with?” Edward replied trying hard to keep his composure. He suddenly looked calm and collected like he wasn’t the same person who was nervous not long ago.Already he had speculated that whoever it was, it had to be someone who knew him. The number was private and after picking up, the caller said he was from the police department. After realizing all this, Edward wanted to laugh out loud, but he chose to play along fi
“What’s the meaning of this? Why are you pointing a gun at my head?” Whitman was shocked by the turn of events. He didn’t expect them to come to his house and threaten him.“You are his ally ain’t you? I’ve seen you a couple of times with that brat called Harrison. Who knows, maybe you are here working for him undercover.” Larry spits his suspicion while Raymond nods his head in support.“Stand down!” Edward snapped but was being ignored. “I said bring the gun down!” He said again and yet no one paid a listening ear to him.“It’s the opposite. I am working with Edward here to bring Harrison down.” Whitman explained.“What? Don’t be shitting me. You are the same person who gave out our hideout to Harrison, and you want us to believe you? You should talk fast before I put four bullets into your thick skull!” Larry threatened. The look on his face was so cold, signifying his threats wasn’t a bluff. Already, he had adjusted the gun and had his finger wrapped around the trigger button. Any
The tension became hot and it felt like air was sucked out of their lungs leaving them dry and vulnerable. That should be the time when they should bow their heads and beg for forgiveness, but the men didn’t look like they would.Though they were shocked by his words, there was no trace of fear radiating off them. It felt like they had gradually made up their minds to accept death.Noticing this, Whitman was quite stunned. He knew their loyalty was as tough as a rock, but in the face of death, anyone was supposed to shiver.Smiling, he pulled out a gun and cracked it, then pointed it at one of them.“Swear loyalty to me and I will spare your life.” He said instead as the thought of using them against Harrison would seem befitting to him.“Tch!” All the men spat at his face at once as though they were all in sync with each other. Their eyes were stern as they held nothing but disgust. If not for the fact that they were being tied, they would have lunged at him by now.“Wrap things up
