“You think you know me or you've seen me somewhere?” Edward asked, trying so hard to conceal his nervousness. After all, it wasn't like he was afraid of Harrison, it was just that he didn't want to get caught before implementing what he had in mind.

Even though he had so much confidence in himself, it seemed he failed to figure out that Harrison wasn't just some dumb person he could toy with easily. He could tell as his heart was beating fast.

“I don't know precisely where, but I think I've seen someone as structured as you,” Harrison said as though he was trying to solve a puzzle in his head.

Sighing, Edward realized he could still divert the whole thing so he calmed down and put on a smile. “Ooh, you can't just recognize someone by body structure. Maybe we have met but I am not sure if we have. As you can see, even my bodyguard looks quite the same as me. I usually work out a lot so I can build up myself.” He explained.

“Ooh, I see. So you want to invest in my wife's company?” Harri

“Sir, can I at least spend a few years here? I am not ready to retire yet.” Ramon said, even though Harrison looked firm with his words. All his life, he had dedicated it to work. He could as well call it a hobby. Retiring would just make him look jobless, and he hated that fact.“You'll kill yourself someday if you keep stressing yourself. At least you can stay in your office all through. I see no reason for you to stress yourself when Whitman is there to take care of most things.” Harrison taunted.“As long as I am serving you, I don't mind.” Ramon smiled as he walked in further and placed the document right in front of the table.Sighing, Harrison leaned forward and picked it up. He should have known Ramon would be so stubborn to accept his offer, but that doesn't mean he would still let him keep working. He already schemed up something in his head but refused to say it in the meantime.Scanning through the document, he found several names on it that he had heard of before. Some co

Caroline searched for whose voice it was for a while and was yet to see who was talking. Then from the other end of the crowd, a man having bald hair looking in his late forties started walking towards her. He had gray hair and wore a suit. As he approached her, his mustache twitched as he molded his mouth in annoyance. Caroline knew who he was, so instantly her expression turned sour. She knew exactly the kind of person he was and when she confronted him way back for a job he threw her out saying she didn't have all the requirements. Who could have thought she could be above him today?“I see you have grown from grass to grace.” The man said with a hint of sarcasm in his voice.“Mr Patrick, it's nice to see you again.” Caroline ignored his mockery with a smile.“Why won't it be after you have snatched your family's company and now look filthy rich? I hope this is not fake.” He sneered, looking at her dead in the eyes with disgust written on his face.Hearing such, Lucas wanted to gi

Ring! Ring!Caroline's phone began to buzz, making her stuck on what situation she was supposed to attend to. Lucas looked like he would kill Patrick soon, and she had to stop him.The crowd had begun to let out a loud gasp in horror watching what was going on. The ones that had the intention of offering a helping hand were muted with their jaws dropping to the floor. How could a man cause so much damage just by himself, and they weren't able to do anything? It felt like a big insult yet none of them were ready to step out for fear of being a victim to such torture.“Apologize!” Lucas sneered again after thoroughly making sure he had dealt with Patrick enough and the latter looked like he couldn't breathe anymore.Lucas' hand was able to hold him up in the air, and he was left swinging and begging for air. Never had he thought anyone would humiliate him in front of other workers, and worst of it was that no one was coming to save him.He suspected that if he didn't beg, then maybe his

“Good.” Harrison smiled and pulled out his phone. He surfed through it and dialed a number, then leaned the phone to his ear. They all wanted to lean forward to see who he was calling, but that wasn't possible for them.“I need thirty good workers.” Harrison was plain over the phone before cutting the call and turning towards them. He said nothing afterward, and the situation turned into a staring contest.Caroline had questions as to why they were standing like that but decided to swallow back her words. After all, she knew Harrison had some plan so she could only wait to see how it would turn out to be.Vroom!Suddenly, a bus drove into the place and thirty people, both men and females, walked out and lined up behind Harrison. Ramon was also there, running towards Harrison and he bowed.“Young master, I have brought good workers. These are even fitted to work in the company but because there was no vacancy I left them pending. I think they can fit in.” Ramon explained.Harrison took

Meanwhile, back in Samson's villa “What are we going to do now? Mother is in the hospital, and we don't have money to foot the bills!” Rachel raged, pacing back and forth in the house. She was looking pale, like some kind of sickness was eating her up.Just a while ago, she was forced to do her laundry. All the workers left as there was no money to pay them. She was penniless, frustrated, and looking weak. Her hand hurt so bad as she moved around, hissing.“Mom shouldn't we go to Harrison and beg for his help?” Linda suggested as the situation was getting out of hand. Edward had promised her money but for a while now she hadn't heard a response from him and now poverty was killing her.She couldn't hold on anymore and wanted to grab any opportunity she could get. But then, it wasn't like she intended to change her intention.“Beg Harrison? Even if it will be my last day on earth, I'd rather die than beg him!” Rachel snarled with bloodshot eyes.“But…”“Enough. Rachel lost every bit of her strength, suspecting Harrison must be there to take revenge. How the secret got leaked was a mystery she was trying so hard to solve, but it wasn't working out.“Ooh yes, I knew. Caroline was never a member of this family, that was why all of you had shunned her and left her to suffer. Also, you let her marry me even though I had nothing.” Harrison pushed himself to the edge of the couch. “Would you give Linda to someone who doesn't have a penny?” He added.Rachel was hit by his words, but she also felt a way to counter him. There were so many weaknesses in his words, yet he was saying it all out.“So you have seen how worthless you are?” She smirked, finally regaining her courage.“What?” Harrison raised a brow at her before shaking his head. She was too dumb to realize the point he was trying to make here.“Where are your morals?” He asked, and she was left speechless trying to understand what he meant. “You think I am attempting to condemn myself? On the other side of the phone, Raymond almost jumped up from his sitting position after what had just been said which seemed surprising to him. He was sure Larry shot Harrison multiple times, yet he was still alive. Or was it that the person she was referring to was someone different? He was yet to figure it out.“Who are you talking about? You want us to kill someone else?” Raymond asked.“What? Wait…” Rachel pulled the phone from her ear to look at the caller to be sure if it was Raymond she was talking to because the way he was sounding was shocking. “Am I talking to Raymond?” She was still unsure.“Yes?” He sounded stressed.“Then why are you replying to me this way, like you don't know the common enemy we have?” Rachel unleashed her anger.“You mean…” Raymond shuddered, as though he was trying to shake off the thought in his head. Whenever it popped up, he kept brushing it over and over again until the thought occupied his whole head and he couldn't run from it. “You mean Harriso

    The end

“You must have thought you were way too smart to be dealt with. You got me so bad that I thought I was done for. I have never faced an opponent like you and for that, I’ll give you a ten. You are damn good!” Harrison said with a hint of mockery in his tone and Edward became pissed. However, he tried to think about what went wrong to make his plan fail and how it was so hard for him to figure out what was going on. In a thousand years, he would never expect someone as low as Ramon to be able to exceed him in intellectual strategy.“What? Don’t tell me you are spacing out at such times. And why weren’t you able to figure out what was going on? I mean, you have cameras watching, don't you?” Harrison said sarcastically.Edward felt pressured and it felt like the right time for Harrison to make it harder on him. After all, Harrison suffered the same fate earlier.“How did I not figure this out?” Edward finally said, scolding himself.“Because you are so dumb to notice.” Harrison fired at h

    A miscalculated plan

Being indoors for a long while had made their senses a bit shaken off and when they had to adjust to a sudden brightness, they couldn’t help but blink their eyes multiple times.Everyone was shocked to see someone had walked into a room. An unknown someone they didn’t know but were so desperate to see his face, yet their sight was failing to adjust to the light. However, after the figure spoke, every single effect of the sudden brightness was washed off and replaced with curiosity.Starting from the leg, everyone scanned the figure from the toe, slowly heading to his face. When they arrived at the finish point, they all nearly fell on their backs.“Ramon?” Everyone yelled seemingly as though they had seen a ghost. It had to be a ghost right, or maybe their senses were playing tricks on them? They just couldn’t figure it out as their jaws were wide open, almost dropping to the floor.“Jesus Christ! What the hell is this?” Edward yelled, shaking his head from side to side to see if ever

Back inside the small cabin in the rural area.Edward and the others were seated on the couch watching the Television. They weren’t watching the news but something else. There were some wireless connected cameras fixed in some certain place while the television displayed each of those scenes that happened in each place Furthermore, there was a remote control in Edward’s hand, and he was able to make each scene that was showing in a mini spot on the screen occupy the whole screen, so everyone could have their view of what was happening.Right there, on the screen, it was showing that Harrison just walked into the hospital ward. Not only could Edward and the others watch what was going on, but they were able to hear the conversation that was going on.Meanwhile, Larry who was seated at the far end of the room was enjoying the show the most since he was the one who delivered the flower directly to her. He played his part so well that she was unable to recognize him. Of course, he was pu

    Strange flowers

“Linda right?” Caroline asked, and the delivery man nodded at her before handing the flowers to her. She extended her hand and grabbed the vase. It was such a perfect piece as it had an ancient drawing sculptured on it. The material looked like glass, yet it was made of wood. The way it was polished alone was unique and must be a very costly piece. At once glance, Caroline took notice of it but what she was more invested about was how nice the flowers were. She couldn't resist the urge to dip her nose into it and allow the fragrance to waft into her nostrils.Bang!Just then the door was pushed open and Lucas pushed his head in. The moment he saw her with flowers he was shocked as he knew it wasn't there before and it wasn't like he saw anyone bring it in.That was when Caroline pulled out of the enjoyable feeling she was in. Her mind ran back to the lad who brought the flowers, and she wanted to thank him but after looking she noticed he was nowhere to be found. Rather, there was Lu

    An apology

“Hello sis, how are you doing?” Linda's voice rang through the phone as soon as the call was picked up, and the receiver was left in shock. It took a while and there was no response. Nervously, Linda peeked glances at the phone to see if it was disconnected, but it wasn't.“Caroline? Are you there?” She called out again before a reply came through.“What do you want?” Caroline replied seemingly disgusted. “Are you calling to make more trouble? Remember I don't have that time at the moment, please.” She concluded and wanted to end the call when Linda spoke.“I am sorry.” She said and shockingly, Caroline couldn't bring herself to hang up. The words she just heard were too good to be true, yet it didn't feel like she was dreaming.Linda just apologized? Caroline started doubting her senses. She was unable to let herself fall for such a trap like before. She had witnessed too much and it was energy draining. Her stepmother pointed a gun at her and would have killed her if not for a mira

    The callers intention

“Shit! The police department?” Whitman murmured the words out, as he would rather not be noticed by the caller. Moreover, everyone had their guard up thinking the place was surrounded by the police. There wasn’t any siren sound or any movement, so it must be an unnoticeable operation, right? Those were the thoughts that were running inside their heads as quickly Larry and Raymond took a peep at the window but there was no one outside. They felt a sigh of relief, but that didn’t quench their suspicion. They knew not to let their guard down. Never.“Yes, who am I speaking with?” Edward replied trying hard to keep his composure. He suddenly looked calm and collected like he wasn’t the same person who was nervous not long ago.Already he had speculated that whoever it was, it had to be someone who knew him. The number was private and after picking up, the caller said he was from the police department. After realizing all this, Edward wanted to laugh out loud, but he chose to play along fi

    Stand down

“What’s the meaning of this? Why are you pointing a gun at my head?” Whitman was shocked by the turn of events. He didn’t expect them to come to his house and threaten him.“You are his ally ain’t you? I’ve seen you a couple of times with that brat called Harrison. Who knows, maybe you are here working for him undercover.” Larry spits his suspicion while Raymond nods his head in support.“Stand down!” Edward snapped but was being ignored. “I said bring the gun down!” He said again and yet no one paid a listening ear to him.“It’s the opposite. I am working with Edward here to bring Harrison down.” Whitman explained.“What? Don’t be shitting me. You are the same person who gave out our hideout to Harrison, and you want us to believe you? You should talk fast before I put four bullets into your thick skull!” Larry threatened. The look on his face was so cold, signifying his threats wasn’t a bluff. Already, he had adjusted the gun and had his finger wrapped around the trigger button. Any

    Loyal to the young master

The tension became hot and it felt like air was sucked out of their lungs leaving them dry and vulnerable. That should be the time when they should bow their heads and beg for forgiveness, but the men didn’t look like they would.Though they were shocked by his words, there was no trace of fear radiating off them. It felt like they had gradually made up their minds to accept death.Noticing this, Whitman was quite stunned. He knew their loyalty was as tough as a rock, but in the face of death, anyone was supposed to shiver.Smiling, he pulled out a gun and cracked it, then pointed it at one of them.“Swear loyalty to me and I will spare your life.” He said instead as the thought of using them against Harrison would seem befitting to him.“Tch!” All the men spat at his face at once as though they were all in sync with each other. Their eyes were stern as they held nothing but disgust. If not for the fact that they were being tied, they would have lunged at him by now.“Wrap things up
