Ryan was seated yet his mind was up and all about the place. He had never seen anything like it.
The things that shone were pure gold and the silks were silkier than ever. The couch was the most comfortable thing he had ever placed his rump on and there were ladies about ready to wipe his nose if he sneezed. Not that he needed that but they were there to do anything and everything for him. A beautiful fair young lady with golden long curls walked towards him and sat in her arms was a white tray embroidered with gold in a pattern that was ever so mesmerizing. Atop the tray was a small white tea cup and a small kettle to match it. She placed it on the table not too far from him and poured him a cup then took careful steps towards him– as careful as the ones she had taken before– and handed it to him. With a deep curtsey, she turned and walked away. Ryan noticed it was green tea but that wasn't the part that caused his eyes to fix on the inside of the cup. He had never seen a ceramic piece so fine before. With an inside of gold like the embroidery of the trays, something in him made him feel like the tea cup could change his whole life if he were to sell it. He cleared his head of every thought of stealing and took a sip. Almost like magic, he felt his anxiety melt away but it began rising the moment he heard footsteps. Maybe another sip wouldn't hurt. “...And then the officer handed Victoria's necklace to me and I just knew it was him. Have you seen her beautiful green eyes in his?” Teresa's voice caught his ears as she walked into the living room. She wasn't alone, a man who was in his sixties– preserved by wealth– walked closely to her. He was dressed in a suit that surely was worth a fortune. Ryan felt the urge to be on his feet in their presence and he already was before he realized it. “I really didn't steal that necklace, it really did belong to my mother–” “I believe you, Ryan,” Teresa cut him off. “Sit down. I'm going to tell you a tale.” He hesitantly sat down though on the edge. First she called him her nephew and now she said she had a tale to tell him. Well, it might as well be a relaxing tale. Teresa heaved a gentle sigh. “My name is Teresa Cooper, your mother, Victoria Jacobs was my sister. It's just hard to explain since we both have different last names. But we both got married fo different families and had to change our maiden names so–” “Wait wait, hold up.” Ryan moved closer to the edge of his seat. “My mother is your sister? Is that how you have that yin necklace? I said I was going to ask you that.” “Yes, yes, son please, you'll have to let me explain everything without any interference from you. Save your questions for the end of the story, when I'm done, I'll answer them all, I promise.” Teresa stated in a calm and gentle voice. Ryan nodded his head, trying his best to keep his mouth shut since that was what she had respectfully asked for. “Your mother, Victoria married into the Jacobs family and gave them the first son. Your father, his name is Jerry and he was a great man who loved your mother dearly. He was supposed to take over all of his father's inheritance but he dedicated his life to the battle field and one day, he went to war and never came back. “Then your grandfather willed all his properties to you before passing away from an illness but your mother, my sister wasn't so sure that you were built for a world of business stress and the only reason she was still in the family was because of her husband but after Jerry died, she just couldn't stay here anymore. “Your grandfather said you were the one he wanted as his heir so he sent out a group of special forces to find you but Victoria was just too sneaky. We didn't find her until later when they brought news about her death. We were all so devastated and you must have just been a kid, lost and hurt with no one to rely on. I should have been there for you, your family… and we are so sorry.” She stared empathetically at him as she explained everything to him. Immediately she stopped talking, the man in a suit picked up at a fast pace. “My name is Logan Hayes, I have been your family's butler and lawyer for four decades now and I can testify to that story's credibility. I have not much to say other than to tell you about the inheritance your grandfather left you… if you are ready to hear it.” Ryan did need a moment. Everything was just too much for him to take in. All his life he had felt like a lost person and indeed he was lost! How was he supposed to digest all of the news in under a few seconds? Inheritance? He was very much aware of the wealth the Jacobs family owned. They ruled about half of the entire world and everyone knew them as the wealthiest. He didn't know for sure but he once heard that the Jacobs family, though they were from Seattle, were related to the royal family of England. He heaved a weary sigh as he moved back into his seat and relaxed into it. Logan cleared his throat. “You, young master, are the sole heir to the entire Jacobs conglomerate.”Ryan glanced at Logan, “tell me what I need to know.” Logan nodded his head. “There's a lot actually.” He reached for his bag that was placed on the table as he spoke. “Here with me are all of the files your grandfather left with me and they are all stated in his will. I shall read it out for you.” He cleared his throat but Teresa stopped him. “Uhm actually, I already placed a call and the rest of the family are on their way back home. They will be here any minute now and I would like us to read the will in front of everyone.” Logan nodded his head. “Oh!” Teresa jumped to her feet, “they are already here.” Ryan followed in her movements and rose to his feet. A beautiful woman who looked the same age as Teresa walked in with her head held high. Following behind her were two young boys the same age as Ryan and both of them were very handsome. One was with a bright smile as he saw Ryan and the other one spared him only a glance then looked away. Five more people followed, tailing
"We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of the late Austin Jacobs, a man who was a father to us all. He was there for all of us in our time of need and in one way or the other, he has done great things in each of our lives and we owe him this last act of respect..."Lilly Goldberg was seated on the couch in the living room, listening to the man on the TV that talked about the late Austin Jacob.Though she wasn't really paying any attention to what the man was saying, her eyes were fixed on the flamboyant decorations in the background.Everything that her eyes fell on was made of gold and diamond and she was sure it was all authentic. The people she could see in the video as well were all richly dressed. She just couldn't believe how wealthy the Jacobs family were.Mr Robertson walked up to her and sat down next to her. "My darling, why are you so interested in the burial of an old man?""It's not just an old man babe, look, his name is Austin Jacobs. He was the one in charge
Sitting at the edge of her seat was lilly Goldberg with pricked ears and eyes wide open like they were about to pop out of their circuits. It was time for the new heir to be announced and introduced to the entire world and her impatience was getting the better of her. If anything, she wished she was at the scene in person, standing right in front of the new heir.Austin Jacobs was finally laid to rest and his family prayed for his peace as he was cremated since that was the way he wished to be laid to rest. The reporter paid his last respect to the legend being laid to rest before speaking. "Alright, now that the entire world has come together to bid the head of the Jacobs empire farewell, it is finally time for us to meet the young man to continue in Mr Austin Jacobs' footsteps.""Everybody be quiet!" Kelly Goldberg hushed them even though no one was talking. "It's time! It's time!" Her eyes widened as she glared at the TV and she wasn't the only one. They had all been expecting the
Unlike he had expected, Ryan Jacobs had been settling into his new life more efficiently. Three days now, It almost seemed like a norm for him to be all dressed in expensive clothes while sitting behind a desk with a computer screen at his face and files on the table.Like he had seen in every movie about rich people at work, he was the big boss in charge of practically half of the world now.Sometimes, he'd just smile to himself at the plot twist. His wife's company was now in the palm of his hands and that of his disgusting and shameless ex boss as well.If he wanted, he could ruin their lives without even stressing but he wasn't going to be an unjust man just because he had power in his hands. He was never a man like that and even though they both deserved it, he wouldn't ruin them like that, at least not for now.He wouldn't lie, things were still hard for him but with the help of Timothy and Logan Hayes, he could bear it.Also, he would have never gotten that far if it wasn't for
Lilly Goldberg was dressed ever so flamboyantly as she waltzed into the reserved hall for the welcome party of the new heir. She was dressed with only one thing in mind, seduction. Her mother had filled her head with all sorts of thoughts and she just couldn't wait for everything to become her reality. "Just imagine the life we would live if you were to be married to the heir of the Jacobs family!" Her mother had told her while she was getting ready for the party. Of all the companies he owned around the world, he was going to reveal himself to their district first! It truly must be fate. Just as she had expected, people couldn't get their eyes off her as she walked in. She was truly one of the most beautiful women in the city. If there were a list, she would be in the top five she was sure. "Daniel, do help find our reserved seats." Kelly Goldberg ordered her soon to be son in law and Daniel immediately rushed forward to carry out the order. She moved an inch closer to her daug
It was almost as if she had a heart attack the moment she saw him walk up the stage. She had been adjudging her dress to make herself extra pretty for the new heir when she saw none other than her ex husband. Daniel Robertson held his fiancée before she collapsed and helped her back to his feet. It wasn't like he wasn't astonished by the face he saw, if anything, his soul had left his body for more than a second. Kelly Goldberg fell into her seat in shock almost as if she was pushed into it. Her brain flipped upside down the moment she saw him and her heart beat drowned amidst the chorus of applause. Ryan smirked. "Thank you Kathie." He said as he moved closer to the pulpit to give a speech. The loud applause and cheers fell silent just then. "Thank you for the standing ovation everyone, you may have your seats." Ryan said and they all sat back down. Lilly shakily returned herself to her seat with the help of her fiancé and she tried her best to calm herself down before she woul
Lilly's heart rate doubled at once. She could hear the murmurs of the people around her even though they weren't clearly, she knew that they were talking about her. Kathie had left the scene to grab some paper towels and a few young ladies who were working as waitresses in the hall joined her as she returned to try and clean the stain on her boss' clothes. The Goldberg family were so surprised to see how many people respected him and how they all tried to help clean the mess around him.One was wiping the stain off his shoes and another was cleaning the floor around him. Kelly's jaw dropped in awe. "It's alright," Ryan stopped them. "I'll go change, thank you."After giving deep bows each, they all turned and walked away. All except for Kathie who remained by his side with a deep frown on her face. Ryan let out a sigh. "What exactly do you want from me, Miss Goldberg? What kind of man do you think I am?" Her eyes widened. "No! I wasn't trying to... I just wanted to--"Daniel Rob
Ryan let out a sigh as he took off his suit shirt and dropped it on the chair in his living room. "What a mess..." He muttered to himself as he fumbled with his clothes. "Mr Jacobs..." Kathie said as she moved closer to him. "Are you alright? I don't know if I should ask or not but... It seems like what happened earlier was a little... Personal." Ryan let out another sigh. "Was it too obvious?" She smiled. "Others probably didn't notice it but I was close enough to. Is it something too personal to talk about perhaps?" "Life was... Very hard on me for as long as I can remember, which means my whole life." He started as he took off his dress shirt. He hadn't even remembered that she was uncomfortable the first time she saw his bare chest. Now, he took off his entire shirt, showing his full body to her as he spoke. Her eyes landed on his perfect abs and his v-shape, she tried to pretend like she was not distracted by it and try to focus on his face instead but she just couldn't. E
