The dark secret

Jane was transfixed on the spot and was dying to see if Ken would turn around to look at her but he didn't. He kept walking away and each step he took farther away, broke her heart into shreds.

With a frustrated sigh, she turned around, wiped the tears that were streaming down her cheeks with the edge of her palms, and aimed for the gate she had used in coming into the campus.

She was going to abandon the day's lecture and head home.

Ken stopped.

He shut his eyes, exhaled, and turned around. He saw Jane walking away and he felt a sharp pain in his chest.

Ken moved to the wall by his right and rested his back against it. He knew he wasn't being fair to Jane and he couldn't help but miss their private dates and humorous hangouts.

He wanted to run after her but decided to let her be. Maybe he needed to carry out the silent treatment for some time. Hopefully, she'll realize that all she had to do was open up to him and let in into her world.
