Mrs. Laura once again hurled insults at Mr. Thomas. She pointed at his face while scolding, “Someone as foolish as you will never get rich. Just think about it. That brat Justin is so wealthy. If we mess with Katherine and Julie now, wouldn’t it be humiliating for us? We might as well sever this relationship completely. What we need to do now is to build a good relationship with him. We are his in-laws, and he’s trying to make amends for Katherine and Julie. When that happens, we can profit as much as we want.”

Mrs. Laura felt pleased with her thoughts. She leaned back, dreaming about moving to a bigger, more elegant place, maybe a mansion no less grand than the current Sherwood estate. She couldn’t contain her laughter at the idea.

The dream of wealth seemed just a touch away, with luxury cars, gold and silver, designer goods, spending without a second thought; everything seemed so simple.
