Chapter 155

Aiden woke up with a jerk from his slumber. His mind had been actively chasing a possibility of suspects, but now that he was awake, the thoughts and theories became hazy. He checked his alarm clock on his bedside stool and saw that he had slept straight for 7 hours. It was already past midnight.

Aiden's stomach growled in protest, and he remembered he had lived off coffee and biscuits for the past 5 days, all in a bid to stay awake and solve the problem. He had been benevolent also to let those who pulled all nighters with him take some days off work to get themselves back in top shape. They had mechanised processes that could be handled without them being present.

Aiden, his stomach raising a storm, walked to the kitchen, his tired feet dragging slightly. As he flicked on the dim kitchen light, he leaned against the counter, feeling the weight of exhaustion settle into his bones. The room was filled with a mix of aromas, some stale coffee still lingering in the air.
