Aiden looks around before whispering, “give me more time, Beatrice. Just a little more time.”

“I can't, sir,” she says, sounding a bit…desperate. Aiden can't really tell but he's damn sure something is wrong with her because she is rarely nervous.

“Give me say one hour,” Aiden whispers, looking around the room to be sure no one is near.

“Sir, you said you were going to be back within three years, it's past that time and you don't seem ready to be coming.”

“Come on, Beatrice, be a little more patient with me.”

“If you don't come here within the next thirty minutes, I'm sorry, I'm going to have to quit. You didn't tell me the company was going to expand this big when we started.”

Just as she hangs up, Aiden hears a male rough voice at the other end that sends some chill—chill of bloodshed—down his spine.

“Shit,” he curses under his breath. He turns around and bumps directly into his wife.

His heart skips a beat. Has she been listening to the conversation all these while?

“Who is Beatrice?” Is the first thing she asks him.

His heart skips another beat as he tries to form a fast believable lie.

“Babe,” he calls with a smile. He tries to hug her but she pulls away. Shit. “Oh.. Beatrice? She's just some woman I saw along the street.”

“Along the street? When?”

Damn. He's really screwed this time. How can he explain how he met some woman when he barely leaves the house?

“Come on, babe, don't you trust me?” He asks before realizing that's the most stupid answer to give people of this gender…

And of course, she has a frown on her pretty face now as she comes closer to him. “Is she someone I know?”

“Come on, babe…she's…Beatrice is just a woman I brushed into in the grocery store. I helped her get her things and…kind of…her things fell and I got it for her. She only called to thank me for what I did.”

“I rather she doesn't call. Next time, babe, tell her you are married.”

“Of course. I will. But I'm sure she won't call me again.”

She walks off like it is all over but Aiden is sure as hell it's nothing close to over but still, he feels some damn relief in his chest as she leaves. Too much for having a super jealous woman as a wife.

“Where is that idiot? Is he waiting for me to call him outside?” Aiden hears Bryan's voice outside.

Quickly, he packs the dishes to the kitchen. Some seconds later, he comes outside.

Bryan is posed against the wall like some fucking big boss of the city with headphones over his head. He throws the car key toward Aiden as Aiden approaches him.

“Follow the address on the dashboard,” is all he hears from Bryan throughout the rest of the ride.

Some minutes later, Aiden stops the car in front of a clubhouse.

He glances around, unable to contain his surprise. Who the hell goes to clubs in the broad daylight?

Without any word, Bryan gets out of the car, slamming the door after him.

He's barely out of the car when a few women run to him, hugging him tightly. He slaps their butts, tells them some shit Aiden can't make out and the women burst out laughing.

The women on either side of him, he walks up to some men with whom they both go inside the club.

Aiden hisses under his breath. He dials a number on his phone.

“Good morning, Mr—”

“Is there a party in your club this morning?”

“If you want, sir, I'll send everyone here out, just say the word.”

“When is the party supposed to end?”

“Four p.m, sir.”

Aiden hangs up. He gets out of the car and slams the door. That stupid guy actually came here to party? He clearly doesn't give a damn about the company whether it folds up or not.

He hisses under his breath as he flags down a cab that drives him to the company.

He strides into the company through the secret backdoor. The last time he came here, the security men mistook him for some fucking beggars and he had to blow his identity as the owner of the company.

He ascends the last step leading to Beatrice's office.

He knocks once on the door and opens it.

“Hello?” He greets but an empty office greets him back.

Since the head of the Vicholas group is some unknown person, he could be watching right now. He turns back to Aiden. “This phone you broke, you are going to pay it back to me in the worst way you can ever imagine.” Aiden shrugs. “Let's see how.” Wesley is going when a thought crosses his mind. A thought crosses Aiden's mind as he steps out of the dressing room. He sure knows Harper loves him but…remembering Wesley's words, he finds himself going across the hall to the party area. “Sir, you need to interview some of those who applied for the contract,” the man Park sent says after him. Aiden turns to the man. “Why?” The man walks closer to him. “Only five companies were chosen from the one thousand and eighteen companies that applied. So, you might need to be around to select the overall best company because we'll be needing just one.”Aiden nods. “I'll be back in a few seconds.” The man bows as Aiden strides into the hall where a soft music is now playing, the dance ground now filled up. At a glance, he scans the dance floor. There is no one who looks like Harper there.
