Chapter 61

I stopped my steps when I heard the sound of sobbing. I sharpened my hearing to find the source of the sound. Slowly, my feet moved in the direction the sound was coming from.

I pushed through the weeds, which were almost as high as me, and as I entered, the sound of sobbing became more pronounced.

"Who are you?" A girl screamed, looking shocked and frightened, when she saw me. She was dragging her behind with a pale face and a terrified expression.

I took a long breath. I was sure the little girl had just experienced something traumatic that make her so scared. I could even see her body and lips trembling.

"I'm not a bad person." I approached her slowly to ease her fear, trying to give her a gentle look to calm her down.

But it seemed the little girl couldn't quite trust me yet. She even seemed to reflexively shy away when I tried to approach her. I looked down at her arm. There was a scratch there. If it was a zombie scratch, it would be extremely dangerous for the little girl.
