Victor still held his position. Petrified silence as he stared straight into Violet’s eyes. Even after so many seconds had passed, Victor still had no reaction to the confession of love that Violet made before his eyes. This made Violet wait anxiously. Victor was far too passive to respond to anything outside of work, but for something as big as this, he could at least say a few words.

“You’re not going to say anything?” Violet asked at last. She admitted defeat and decided to speak up first.

Victor finally spoke up, though he had to use the bait of being asked first. “What do you want me to say?”

“I want you to say ‘I love you’ too.”

“I love you.” Violet was petrified, her eyes glued to Victor, who returned her gaze just as intently. Her heart was racing, as if it might explode if it wasn’t stopped immediately.
