“Yes, but we need to talk quickly. Things are getting worse out there. If there’s anything you need to say, now is the time,” the old man replied, glancing around at the policeman who stood there in fear.

The chief of police was watching the situation anxiously, and he certainly knew how scary it was to get on the wrong side of the respected family’s caretaker. He fought to keep his cool, but his face showed how worried he was about what was going to happen next.

Sebastian swallowed, trying to gather his words. “There’s a lot going on and I can’t explain it all right now, but I’m innocent. My wife… she set this up. I’m the victim of all this.”

The chief of the family’s caretaker nodded, understanding the complex situation Sebastian was in. “I believe what you say. However, it’s important to remember that we need evidence and a strategy to turn this around.”

As the argument continued, the policeman asserted himself and tried to press for an explanation. “Sir, we were just doing our job,” he said, his voice shaking with fear.

The old man turned to the policeman with a sharp gaze. “Job? Is it your job to detain someone without clear evidence? Or will you pay attention to who is really in control of this situation?” The old man’s voice was trembling, causing tension in the police who were already intimidated by this situation.

Sebastian watched this tension carefully. In his heart, hope and uncertainty mixed together. Perhaps, under the protection of people who understood this power game, there would be a way to free him.

With renewed vigor, he felt that he was faced with a challenge that he could overcome and that for the first time, there was a possibility of fighting back. Perhaps with the help of this old man, he could find a way to end all this betrayal and regain his freedom, as well as protect his family’s reputation and honor.

After leaving the police station, Sebastian and the old man got into the car. The atmosphere in the car was tense, filled with questions and uncertainty. After a few moments of silence, Sebastian finally gathered the courage to ask the old man, “Why did you come? What makes you care?”

The old man sighed, looking far ahead as he drove the car. “The family has always been worried about you, even when you decided to leave us for a woman,” he replied in a wise tone. “We once saw potential in you, and even though you took a different path, we still cared about your well-being.”

Sebastian felt a sense of emotion and nostalgia in his heart. He knew that many things had changed since then, but for him, the decision to leave the life that had been set for him was a difficult one. However, he could not ignore the harsh reality that he had to face now.

“Do you regret your choice?” the old man asked, looking directly at him. His sharp old eyes captured every emotion that crossed Sebastian’s face.

Sebastian fell silent. Deep down, he already knew how many mistakes he had made, how his decisions had affected his own life and those he loved. However, he chose to remain silent, holding back every bit of emotion.

He did not want to admit that he regretted the choice he had made. The battle was between his heart and his mind—he loved Sara, but at the same time, he could not ignore all the consequences of his choice.

“This… this is not the right time to discuss that,” he replied, his voice full of hesitation. “I want to focus on how to get out of this situation.”

The old man nodded, understanding how difficult Sebastian’s situation was. “Okay, but remember, every choice we make has consequences. If there’s anything I can do to help you, just say it,” he said, his voice serious.

The two were silent as they drove, and Sebastian reflected on everything he had gone through. In his flood of thoughts and emotions, he knew that he had to find a way to right this wrong, not only for himself but for his family as well.

He hoped that he could turn things around and create a better future. Perhaps now was the time to take the first step in proving that even though the path he had chosen was winding, there was still hope for redemption.

The old man drove calmly, but the atmosphere inside the car was heavy. Finally, he turned to Sebastian and delivered some surprising news. “I came because I have something important to tell you. Your family wants you back.”

Sebastian swallowed, feeling a sense of uncertainty well up in his chest. “Back? Why?” he asked, hoping that this wasn’t just about his problems.

“Because your father has fallen seriously ill. He’s been diagnosed with ALS,” the old man replied, disappointed and concerned.

The news struck Sebastian hard. Although he didn’t have a close relationship with his father and was often disgusted by his playboy attitude, he couldn’t completely shut himself off from the fact that his father was a part of his life. A deep sense of sadness washed over him upon hearing that the man who had once neglected his responsibilities was now in such a dire state.

“He’s… sick?” he asked softly, his voice shaking. In his mind, he recalled all the bitter and good memories that accompanied their relationship. His father, despite being a relentless playboy, had tried to show his affection in ways that were sometimes incomprehensible.

“Yes, and this might be a good time to mend that relationship, if you decide to return,” the old man said, watching Sebastian’s reaction closely.

Sebastian was silent, thinking about everything that had happened—the life he had chosen, his marriage to Sara, and now the news about his father. He didn’t want to go back to the past full of uncertainty, but his inner voice began to stir. On one hand, he felt that maybe this was an opportunity to straighten out things that were still weighing on him.
