Chapter Four - Meeky.

Justin's heart pounded like it'll rip out of his chest. Everyone seated in the Tucsons' spacious living room had their eyes on him. Expecting him to say something, but all he did was crouch his head. Intermittently he'd raise it and steal a glance and whirl his eyes across the artworks festooning the walls.

"Is everything okay?" Lilly said.

Justin lifted his head to give a response, but he got interrupted by Tucson. "What else could be wrong with his pathetic ass? I'm sure he couldn't get the tickets." Tucson snickered, glancing at his wife. Mrs. Tucson had a similar look on her face too.

"But I got the money," Justin disclosed. It felt like he splashed a chunk of icky acid into the air. Everyone had a stunned reaction on their faces.

Lilly's face glistened with a smile, and the glint of the chandelier gleamed over her sparkling set of canines. Just like she initially thought, Justin might find a way to put a smile on her face and throw her face taunts into the lake.

"Really?" Lilly grinned excitedly, she rushed towards Justin. "Go get the tickets immediately, since you have the money."

Justin wore a sober face. He's a bit sad that he'd take away the smile on Lilly's face and put a scowl on it with next word he will utter.

"I got scammed,"

A long hush ensued in the room. Lilly's smile vanished like a flame.

"What do you mean you got scammed?" Lilly asked. "You know what? Nevermind mind!" She growled and disappointedly and wandered back to her seat.

"That was too good to be true, I knew you were of no good." Tucson spat.

"Even if he robbed a bank. He will never get a hundred thousand dollars." Mrs. Tucson snarled.

Diana led out a lengthy, but cynical laughter. "Mum, what if he gambled with a dollar and won a hundred thousand dollars?" Diana asked with a flare of mockery.

"No. Gambling is for smart people. Not dumb idiots like Justin." Mrs. Tucson retorted.

Everyone except Lilly cracked up hysterically, stomping their feet on the floor. Justin had a stream of tears assembling in his eyes, but when Tucson loomed towards him it became a fountain.

"Well, since you have failed," he pressed a little closer, looking into Justin's eyeballs. "I will go ahead with my part of the deal. You will divorce my daughter and leave this house." Tucson threatened.

"Dad please," Lilly cut in, swiftly ambling towards the duo. "Please give him a little more time." She pleaded.

"There is no such -"

Tucson's speech was halted by a knock on the door.

Diana's lips twirled with a cheerful smile. "That must be Meeky." She grinned as she paced towards the door. She had told everyone initially that her boyfriend would be visiting.

She walked in with a young man who seemed to be close to his thirties. But the glamour in his eyes disguised it. His black tuxedo and elegant shoes depicted luxury. After all, he is Meeky Evans, the son of a wealthy and reputable business tycoon.

Justin's eyes widened at the sight of Meeky. Maybe the smile on Meeky's face misled him, but the familiarity in those deep brown eyes struck a cord in his mind. Obviously, Meeky was the guy who duped Justin at the coffee shop.

"Mum, Dad. This is Meeky Evans. My boyfriend." Diana said.

Tucson extended his hand for a handshake. "You're welcome, son." Tucson smiled.

"I know you!" Justin yelled.

Meeky turned to meet Justin pointing a finger at him, while his eyes flashed with rage. Meeky gave Justin a blank stare.

"Have we met?"

"Of course, we've met. You motherfucker." Justin cursed. He took a step close to Meeky. "Where is my money?"

Meeky scoffed and pushed Justin away. " I don't know what you're talking about."

"How dare you speak to my man like that?" Diana shot, dabbing a slap on Justin's face. She was going to slap him again, but Meeky grasped her hand.

"Babe, let him be."

"Aren't you ashamed of yourself? " Mrs. Tucson yelled. "You couldn't get the tickets to Nelson Drogonuv's party and you stand here to accuse this innocent man. You're pathetic."

Meeky chuckled and fired a contemptuous stare at Justin. "It's fine ma'am. I'll get the tickets for everyone, except -" he hesitated and moved closer to Justin - gaping into his eyeballs. "Except the poor and dumb dude.”
