7: A new identity a new lifestyle (1)

Allen had made up his mind to find a source of income to sustain himself. He could remember from one of the military solder's memories that there was a special bar in the city that gave out mercenary missions, and so he decided to check it out. However, he knew he couldn't go to the bar looking like a teenager, and he needed a different identity that wouldn't be traceable to his identity as Nathan.

In his hotel room, Allen began to shape-shift, trying out different appearances until he finally transformed into a man in his 30s with dark blue hair and eyes wearing a black sweater and black trousers and a dark blue jacket with golden outlines, He looked at himself in the mirror and nodded in recognition before transforming back to his teenage appearance and stepping out of the hotel.

Allen walked into an alley and transformed into his new identity with blue hair before making his way to the bar on foot. When he arrived at the bar, he paused momentarily to read the neon light sign with the bar's name on it: "Lucy's Cocktail, huh." He then stepped inside and could see dozens of adults going about their activities. He made his way to the counter and sat down.

.A woman with dark skin, long green hair, wearing a black crop top, and black jean shorts with a black jacket dangling down her arms approached him while sucking a lollipop. She had tattoos allover her body and a particular ones on her neck one that spelled "Eat It." She greeted him with a flirty smile and said, "Hey handsome, I haven't seen you around here before. What's your name?"

Allen replied, "It's Zero. I came here for a job."

The woman's eyes lit up with interest. "Oh, a job? We have plenty of those here. What kind of work are you looking for?"

Zero responded, "I'm looking for mercenary missions. I heard this is the best place to get them."

The woman leaned in closer, her scent of strawberries and mint filling Zero's nostrils. "Oh, we have plenty of those. But, we don't just give out missions to anyone who walks in here. We need to know you're capable first."

Zero nodded, understanding her skepticism. "I assure you, I am more than capable."

The woman raised an eyebrow, her green eyes scanning him up and down. "Alright then, let's see what you're made of. We have a mission that needs to be taken care of tonight. Are you up for it?"

Zero though to himself. "she is obviously trying to set me up with a mission I wouldn't be able to handle, well I'll play along with her, for now, its not like there would be any mission I wouldn't be able to complete." he secretly grimed.

Zero smiled confidently. "Absolutely."

The woman handed him a piece of paper with an location and instructions on it. "go to this location, you will meet 6 others already waiting for you there, they'll fill you in on what you guys are gonna be doing. Once you guys are done, come back here for payment."

Zero took the paper and tucked it into his pocket. "Consider it done."

As he got up to leave, the woman called out to him. "Hey, Zero. Don't forget, if you fail this mission, don't bother coming back."

Zero turned back with a smirk. "Don't worry, failure is not an option for me."

With that, Zero left the bar and made his way to the location on the paper, ready to take on his first mercenary mission.

As soon a s Zero exited the bar a woman with brown hair red eyes wearing a white crop top with red jeans named Lucy approached the dark skinned woman with green hair, her name was Lilly.

"Who was he." Lucy asked.

"Oh he's just some random hot guy, he said he was looking for a mission, so I gave him mine" Lilly replied with an emotionless look on her face.

"wait, do you mean the one where you where supposed to meet up with Rion and the others so you could retrieve the artifact?"

"Yeah what?" Lilly replied with a I don't give a damm attitude.

"Lilly you always do this, do you get a kick out of sending these newbies to their deaths!?" Lucy asked with a bit if frustration in her voice.

Lilly sighed and said, "Lucy, I was just taking out the trash. He was the only one available at the time."

"Well, it's not fair to him to be thrown into a dangerous mission like that," Lucy retorted. "You should have warned him about what he's getting himself into."

"I did warn him," Lilly replied. "But he seemed eager to take the job."

(she is referring to the time she told him that if he fails the mission he shouldn't bother to come back)

"no am sure you didn't." she said as she released a sigh as she put her right hand on her face.

"Lilly, having a lot of mercenaries is a good thing. Even if some of them are not as experienced, they can still provide valuable assistance." Lucy said with a frustrated look on her face.

Lucy sighed, "Right, because that's exactly what we need - more dead weight. You better hope that kid makes it out alive or else you'll be hearing from me."

Lilly just and walked away, used to Lucy's constant nagging. She hoped that Zero had what it takes to complete the mission and make it back in one piece.

As Zero arrived at the meeting place, he could see six people already waiting for him. There were four men and two women, all of them looking at him with surprise.

One of the men, a tall and muscular guy with short black hair, spoke up first. You're not Lilly," he said, eying Zero suspiciously. "Who the hell are you?" he demanded.

Zero straightened up, looking at each of them in turn. "I'm Zero, the one who's going to help you with the mission," he said calmly.

The group started arguing amongst themselves, complaining about how they always got stuck with amateurs like Zero. They talked about how Lilly always left them hanging and how they'd make her pay for their lunch next time.

"Why do we always get stuck with the newbies? This is supposed to be a professional job," grumbled Alister.

"I don't have time for this," complained Nova. "I have better things to do than babysit some newbie who doesn't know what he's doing."

The other members of the group nodded in agreement, all of them expressing their annoyance at the situation. They had all been on jobs with Lilly before and knew that she had a tendency to leave them hanging.

"I can't believe Lily would send us a beginner like Zero. We're supposed to be professionals," said Mina.

"And what if we fail? Who's going to take the blame?" chimed in Mike.

The group continued to grumble and argue amongst themselves, each of them expressing their frustration with the situation. They talked about how they would make Lily pay for their lunch next time and how they were sick of always getting stuck with the rookies.

Zero stood quietly by the side, he didn't really care about the uneasy and hostile atmosphere. He had expected some level of hostility, but he hadn't expected it to be this bad. He hoped that he would be able to prove himself on this mission and show the group that he was capable of handling himself.

"guys let's calm down, rambling on like this isn't going to change anything, we can't waste any more time, let's go over the plan" said Rion.

After the initial argument, the mercenaries finally calmed down and began to focus on the task at hand. Rion, the team leader, started the discussion by laying out a basic plan to infiltrate Spintex and retrieve the artifact.

"We need to approach this carefully," Rion said, "We know Spintex is expecting us, so they'll be waiting with traps and guards."

Mina, one of the support specialists, chimed in, "I can use my powers to create distractions and confusion, hopefully giving us an advantage."

Nova, another support specialist, added, "And I can use my powers to create illusions to help us evade the guards."

Mike, one of the attack specialists, spoke up, "I'll take the lead on the assault, my powers can help me take out the guards quickly and efficiently."

Alister, another attack specialist, nodded in agreement, "And I'll back him up with my long-range attacks."

Max, the final attack specialist, remained quiet, but his serious expression showed his readiness for battle.

Zero, still new to the group, listened intently to the plan, but remained quiet.

Rion noticed Zero's silence and asked, "Do you have any ideas, Zero?"

Zero thought for a moment before responding, "I can use my ice powers to create a path for us through any obstacles or traps, and I can also freeze any guards that get in our way."

Rion nodded in approval, "Alright, let's put our plan into action. Remember, we need to work together and be careful. This mission won't be easy, but if we stick together, we can succeed."

With their plan in place, the mercenaries set out towards Spintex's location, ready to retrieve the artifact and complete their mission.
