Chapter 5

Because of Cheska’s invitation, Matthias couldn't focus on the game at all and made several fouls.

What’s worse is that if it is Jared committing a foul, it wasn’t ruled as foul at all.

The practice game inside the class ended like a wind at Matthias’ loss, because of this, the winning team led by Jared did not stop commenting on how wussy he is.

Aira is also proud about this and can’t stop smiling at him, showing Matthias that he’s clearly a loser.

Cheerleaders on the other side, supporting Jared’s team also joined the taunting, making Matthias look more miserable.

“Nice game, guys. Why don’t we have fun and have a barbecue party today as a reward to ourselves?” Cheska suggested.

Everyone except Matthias’ friends and Cheska looked at each other with a grin in their eyes.

Of course, Matthias, the poor boy, will surely ditch the party and run at his rat hole again.

“Yes, why don’t we do it?,” Aira agreed as her smile widened with malice towards Matthias.

“Okay, let’s count who will join!” Ella yelled and the counting began, skipping Matthias consciously.

“You’re not coming to the party again, this time right?” Luna stated.

But Wilson with his nerdy glasses jumped in and defended Matthias.

“Uh…ah. He will. He will. I… I will pay for him,” he said and opened up his wallet to bring out his credit card that’s funded by his parents who own a pharmacy.

The girls sneered.

“Oh, what a good friendship,” Luna said and turned his back away to Matthias. “If it isn’t because of your friend’s money, you won’t be able to come with us,” she murmured more.

Yet, what they thought was already an over argument turned to a worst case scenario when Jared suddenly punched Wilson’s face, causing his nose to bleed.

The girls shout in disgust of Wilson’s blood and the boys backed away to not attract Jared’s attention except for Matthias.

“Hey,” Jared's deep voice almost chilled Wilson down to his spine, “are you trying to ruin our fun?”

“N-no,” Wilson answered in his shaky voice.

“Then who will pay for Matthias?”

“H-him.”

And silence.

No one in the crowd wants to play with Jared’s fist.

Seeing this, Cheska, took the public’s attention and smiled sweetly to ease the tension in the air.

“Why don’t you just let me treat you all? As you know, our family owns a restaurant,” Cheska suggested out of pity for Matthias.

That’s when Jared also suggested a wild thing for all of them.

“Treat us all? Hah, isn’t it better if it’s the go-home boy who will treat us all since this is his first time joining a class party?”

All eyes fell to Matthias, who never spoke a word nor flinched since the bullying started.

“How about that? Nice, right?” Jared taunted more

Matthias raised his head a bit to meet Jared’s eyes.

He’s sure, this guy is serious in making him crawl today out of fun.

But what’s funny is that his sense of fun has already twisted since he signed the paper at Mr. Owen’s office.

“I don’t want to,” Matthias briefly replied, which garnered a loud laugh from Jared.

“Of course you won’t want that. Because that will just send your organs and soul straight to those who wanted it. Even more, your petty life won't be enough to satisfy my cravings alone.”

This time, it is Matthias, who laughed at Jared that the latter found insulting.

“My life?,” Matthias said. “It’s worth more than your family can give.”

Hearing the insane declaration from Matthias, Aira stepped in to tell him once more that he’s poor and will stay that way forever but Matthias shut her up before that.

“Aira, are you going to tell these people again that I am a dirt eating bastard? Do you want me to tell them what kind of food you eat?”

Flushed red, Aira pursed her lips, afraid that Matthias will really blurt out her dirty secret in front of the class.

But Jared just laughs it off while hugging Aira in front of Jared in an attempt to make him feel jealous.

“You’re too chatty today, poor boy. Why don’t you just come out honestly and tell us that you can’t afford treating us all because it’s already a miracle to feed yourself everyday.”

The crowd laughed at Jared’s straight provocation to Matthias.

“What about this? Lick my shoes clean and maybe I can give you a portion of my rice. I am sure that that kind of food is heaven for you.”

Instantly, the cheerleaders began chanting.

“Lick it! Lick it! Lick it!”

And the others, who don't want to get involved at Jared’s wrath also joined in.

“Lick it! Lick it!”

They sang in unison as if to protest.

However, Matthias has no reason to do it at all and even if he does, he will never do whatever this Jared guy will say.

Instead of doing what Jared asked him to do, Matthias went to the court’s side to get the coach’s bench and sat on it.

Then he took off his socks and raised his feet in front of Jared, who’s getting more angry by the minute.

Mimicking Jared’s voice when he asked Matthias to lick his feet, Matthias also asked Jared to lick his feet.

“Maybe I’ll change my mind and say yes to your suggestion that I treat everyone here, you poor beings.”

Furious, Jared launched a kick to Matthias’ raised leg and turned back, dragging Aira with him.

“Remember this, loser, wherever we go, you’re the one bound to pay our bills today,” Jared exclaimed as they walked out of the door.

“Huh? Forcing me now? Well… it’s fine. Okay,” Matthias agrees to Jared which shocked the whole class.

Luna’s face turned into a frown.

“Are you bragging now that you can pay for our meals? Excuse me, we only eat high quality foods,” Luna said.

“Eyy, Matt, are you sure that you’re going to be okay?” Wilson asked as he cleaned his nose with his handkerchief.

“Why don’t you just use my card when paying, I’m sure Jared won’t know who’s the owner of the card that you’ll use.”

“Wilson is right, Matt. If you don’t want his card, how about mine?” Dylan seconded, making Matthias grin.

“Don’t worry too much, it's fine. I do have a plan.”

And the three left, followed by Cheska, who’s just listening to all of that.
