Chapter 6

Outside, Jared and Aira are already waiting for Matthias beside their car.

“Kiszarl Grand Hotel. That’s where we’ll enjoy this night, Matthias. Are you fine with that?” Aira asked him with an eyebrow raised.

Kiszarl?

Matthias’ friends stopped at their tracks. Isn’t that the place for a 5-star Michelin restaurant in the area?

Wilson’s eyeballs raised, trying to calculate the expenses that he’ll have if the whole class ate at that place.

He’s going to warn his ignorant friend about the price of food there when Matthias answers with his nonchalant voice.

“Okay,” Matthias agreed. “But in one condition.”

Jared’s eyes’ lit up when he heard Matthias will be giving a condition.

Interested in how Matthias will make his way out, Jared asked him what condition he was setting.

Maybe he’ll tell them to just order for plain water?

Jared smiled with cockiness as he waited for Matthias’ response.

“I want you to pay half of our bill.”

Jared leaned to his car.

Look at this smart kid, trying to make a bargain now?

He thought for a while and tried to calculate the amount that he’ll need to pay at Kiszarl. It’s too much even for his own allowance.

After deciding that he’ll just order from the lower priced menu, Jared agreed to Matthias’ condition.

Well, who cares. The amount is a bit hefty but he’s sure that it isn’t a problem to his parents.

He swears that he won’t let Matthias have a good time today and will leave him washing the dishes forever because of non-payment.

“Okay, deal,” Jared agreed and went inside his own car to drive to Kiszarl Grand Hotel.

The other students also rode their own cars and motorbikes to go there, letting those who don’t have to ride with them.

That left Jared, Wilson and Dylan standing.

“Uhm… uh, My brother will fetch me later at 5 p.m.. I’ll just call him to come here early so–”

“Ah, it’s fine, Wil.” Matthias interrupted Wilson.

“Everything will be solved,” he said as he looked at the particular sedan parked a bit far away from them and at the driver arranged by Mr. Owen earlier.

“How? We’re stuck here, Matt. See?” Dylan lamented.

But before Matthias’ driver can come, a red convertible car is parked in front of the three.

“What are you guys doing? Hop in,” Cheska said in a cheery voice and the two except Matthias sweetly thanked her before joining her in the car.

“And you?” she asked when she noticed that Matthias wasn't moving at all. “Aren’t you going to join us?”

Reluctantly, Matthias also joined them, making a small signal to his driver that he won’t need a ride for the meantime. Instead, he can just follow them around.

An hour later, the whole class met at the designated place– Kiszarl.

Golden plates and utensils, hanging chandeliers that resemble the stars, handsome and beautiful women catering the guests… the air itself at the entrance of Kiszarl exudes the scent of gold coins being poured down in a single drink.

“Shh, Matt, are you sure…?” Wilson asked once more when the word extravagance and class welcomed them at Kiszarl.

Without an answer, Matthias patted Wilson’s shoulders to make him stop worrying.

Despite their obvious whispering and hesitation, the staff escorted them to a separate dining room after seeing how many students came in.

“Did anyone ask for a private room?”

All of them glared at Aira at once but Aira shook her head.

It’s not her.

The staff noticed this confusion.

“Dear guests, it is Kiszarl’s hospitality rule that guests that will occupy more than 2 tables should be escorted to a separate room. This is to prevent inconveniences to other guests.”

Ka-ching!

Wilson almost fainted when he realized that they already have a bill to pay even before sitting down.

My card, Wilson sobbed internally.

His parents will surely lecture him about finances again and he’s sure that even with Dylan’s help, they will not be able to help Matthias with the bill.

But how can they solve this situation?

Matthias, on the other hand, looks so chill for his own good.

Wilson sighed in frustration.

Oh, their poor Matthias. He really will be scammed soon.

Inside, the staff quickly asked and presented the menu to them.

Bronze, silver and gold.

Aside from that differentiation, nothing else is written on the menu except for the food’s name and its mouth-watery descriptions. But every single one of them agreed that these items cost a fortune.

Jared is the first one to scan the menu very carefully. In his thoughts, the silver-menu for him won’t hurt his image and will be easier on his wallet.

“Why don’t we start on silver,” Jared proposed, stealing a glance at Matthias that’s so focused on reading the menu.

Did he now realize how lavish this place is?

What’s taking him so long to decide? Jared questioned himself when he saw Matthias taking his time.

“Uhm, no? I don’t like seafood,” Matthias finally said. “But if that’s what you want then go on, I’m going to place a separate order for me.”

Jared smiled, it’s his win. The poor guy tried to cover it by saying that he doesn’t like seafood but every single one here knows the truth.

Matthias will order the bronze!

Worse, he’ll just ask for water.

“Oh poor boy, can’t you afford silver?” Jared teased Matthias.

“Are you really that hellbent to see Matthias embarrassed, Jared?” Cheska intervened once again.

“You’re not a kid anymore but look at you embarrassing not only yourself but all of us here.”

The class lowered their heads at Cheska’s point except Jared and Aira’s group.

“Can’t you deal with your childishness, my god, Jared. Don’t you know the word class?”

Jared’s eyebrows furrowed at Cheska because earlier, as well, she keeps siding with Matthias and he can’t do anything about it since Cheska’s parents own half of their department store’s shares.

Managing his temper, Jared gritted his teeth and turned to the staff.

It may be not today but he’ll make sure that Matthias will have to live a life of hell.

“Since we have the poor boy treating us to–”

“Jared!” Cheska shouted when Jared emphasized the nature of their argument to the staff.

She’s really keeping it in but this class is stepping out of their boundaries over some financial abilities.

“No more,” Cheska reminded Jared. “Let’s end this nasty behavior before things get ugly.”

Losing the battle of words with Cheska, Jared surrendered.

“Tsk, please serve us the bronze set,” he said before looking at Matthias but what he saw was Matthias yawning in boredom.

Yes?

Did this kind of threat not faze him at all?

Jared’s look at Matthias darkened.

Or maybe he’s thinking that he can run away from them tonight so they’ll pay for the meals themselves.

In the end, what Matthias said left their mouth hanging in the air.

“Bronze? That’s the least for my hospitality. Uhm, Miss?” Matthias called to the staff’s attention. “Please serve us the gold.”
