CHAPTER FORTY ONE

"Kayla? What's going on?"

Reynold asked as he saw her burst into the house. Her expression was hardned and begging to not be approached - not that it did anything to Reynold.

She blew past in a whirlwind, barking over her shoulder. "I have to prep for tomorrow's make-up meeting."

Frowning in confusion, Reynolds followed Kayla upstairs. He found her furiously booting up her computer, files splayed across the bedspread.

"Whoa, slow down.” he implored. "Did something happen at work?"

Kayla snatched a folder, rifling through papers. "Somehow incorrect financials got circulated for today's merger negotiation. God fucks! It made me look like a bumbling idiot, unprepared with the right data!"

Kayla spewed out the full story, typing rapidly between gesticulations.

"Those numbers couldn't have changed spontaneously," she added. “I am sure someone messed with it and I am going to get to the bottom of this.”
