Unknowingly for Erix, he slept the whole day. He had come home yesterday by 4:30 and had slept till 9:00 am. He was so tired and worn out that he didn't even recall what happened yesterday.

"Why does my head hurt so much?" Eric winced in pain, while holding his aching head.

He was feeling sick, probably because he had caught a cold from the boy's water ability and the heavy wind outside, but he didn't have anything now. It was as if what happened yesterday was a lie and that today was the start of a totally new life.

However, to start his life in a new way as he thought, he decided to take a shower. It was 9 am already and the military was supposed to come pick him up by 10 am. So he had only an hour to prepare before their arrival.

He didn't have to take his luggage with him since the military will be providing them everything, and since they would be in uniform there, they didn't need clothes either.

Quickly entering the small bathroom, he didn't take shower at once.

He first took off his clothes and looked at himself in the bathroom mirror.

Erix had clear crimson hair but preferred it black. The reason was because the red hair usually attracted unnecessary attention which would always end him being bullied. So he always end up dying his hair black before leaving for school every morning.

His eye color was the same as his hair, just that it was a little darker. He wasn't as ugly as some of his bullies but wasn't handsome either. He was just in between the tiny lines.

Though, he had the impression that he had changed a little.

"Is it I or my hair is a little smoother?"

It wasn't just his imagination since it was real. Due to the boy's water ability that soaked him drenched yesterday, all his hair was ruffled all over his face, whereas now, it was a little more arranged.

"It's not like I usually care about them anyways, so I see no point in focusing on that." He brushed off his thoughts and entered the bathtub.

His shower was unusually long. He still had one long hour before the military would arrive, so he cleaned himself as much as he could.

While washing himself Erix noticed something in his skin. He noticed that his skin was strangely smooth and new as though his old skin was torn off and replaced with new one.

"My skin isn't as beaten as before. It almost appears as if I gained a new skin overnight."

Not lingering more about that, he went on with his shower, and after forty minutes or so, he got out. The shower was indeed refreshing. He felt so refreshed that he had the impression that all his worries went away.

Not that it was by any means possible but the thought only, reassured him. Joining the military would be the biggest catch of his life and a totally new beginning in his life. Though the information about what they will do there was unrevealed, he still believed that it was for the greater good.

The military was quite secretive about their operations. They didn't share any information about themselves with the outside world because one, they weren't the only powerful force on earth, there were also other big families. So if the military was sharing every bit of their training aspect and other stuff, they would surely be at a disadvantage over other forces. Second was because of how intelligent Sulckers were.

Though the war ended with a peace treaty between both races, it wasn't completely over. Sulckers only backed off for a while until earth lowered its guard. And as a matter of fact, many humans were working for them.

These were the people that believed that humanity had no chance of winning the war, so in order to live, they surrendered themselves as slaves to Sulckers. So after the war, these humans were sent as spies to earth. They were to gather information on how earth was progressing in strength.

So the military needed to be secretive to prevent the enemy from taking advantage of them, and their human allies to know how they proceed.

For now, peace was only there because there were enough powerhouses on both sides that were preventing each other from evading. So if the military was attacked the balance would be distorted and another war would break out.

After coming out of the bathroom, Erix put on some clothes and prepared himself to eat.

Since he couldn't afford meat, Erix had forcibly turned vegetarian.

So he prepared vegetables since he only had that.

Not that he could have been able to eat more anyway. His stomach was small so he needed to keep living even without much food.

Once the vegetable was done, he served himself, and in no time he was eating.

However, something happened. The vegetable tasted sour, and it was disgusting. He tried to eat it but just couldn't. After many attempts to continue eating it and wouldn't, he spit them all out from his mouth.

"How come? I ate vegetables yesterday morning, and they never tasted this bad." He was talking to himself before something appeared before his eyes.

It was green in color and looked like the video game rich kids normally plays after school.

"What is this?" He asked the thing but got no answer. Instead, the disgusting taste he once had in his mouth faded as though it was cleansed for real.

A few seconds later, the message disappeared.

"No, No, wait, don't disappear like that," Erix said in a pleading tone, but nothing happened. He then tried to visualize the window screen in his head, and surprisingly, something with digits appeared in front of his eyes again.

"What…the….fuck..?" Erix stuttered with wide eyes.

This green screen appeared out of thin air. It was strange because numbers were indicating his stats in real life.

He tried to touch the screen but his hands only passed through.

"What the? Does this mean I'm the only one seeing this?" He questioned himself. He then ran to the mirror in his bathroom to see through but there was no reflection on it.

"Seems I'm the only one seeing this thing." Curiosity was getting the best of him.

Looking closely at the screen, Erix noticed a few smaller tabs under it. The tabs were all arranged in horizontal rows.

However, just like he did a while ago when summoning the screen, by visualizing it, the first tab beneath the screen surfaced out.

[Skill tab]

[Skill locked:????]

"As supposed, which level 1 could be granted skill just easily," Erix said in a tone of anger but quickly calmed. There were still more tabs to check out.

"Otherwise, it could have been too termed easy. But can." He thought before moving over to the last tab in the row and that was the [Quest] tab.

[Daily quest]

Unlike the two other tabs, this one had a subcategory. So Erix went in order and thought about the main quest category.

[Main quest]

[Reach level 10]

"That would surely take a lifetime to achieve."

He then moved toward the next subcategory.

[Daily quest]

- [Do five push-ups

- [Drink 1½ Litre of water

Reward: 5 exp]

"These two look kinda easy." Erix then looked at his watch. "Whoa, 9:50 already. Time flies pretty fast when you're busy. I should try these quests before the military gets here."

Erix quickly got on his knees and began to do the five push-ups simultaneously. Even though he was weak and a poor level one, five push-ups were nothing to him.

[5 exp received]

"Wow, at least I know the thing works," Erix said, excitement evident in his tone. He rushed over to his study desk and grabbed two bottles of water. At once, he gulped one and half of the water in it.

"Shit! Feels like my stomach is gonna burst any time soon."

Just then a loud knock was heard on the door. The sound was so sudden that it made Erix's heart skip a beat. He looked at his watch and saw it was 10 am on dot.

At that moment he needed no sorcerer to tell him who was on the door.

So quickly, he rushed and grabbed his coat on the bed before going to answer the door.

"This is the military. The vehicle is waiting outside. Let's leave now." A tall bald headed man in military uniform announced the moment Erix opened the door.

'As expected, they are always on the right time.' He thought before exiting his room.

As the both of them walked towards the military vehicle, Erix noticed there was a huge height difference between them. He was only 1.65 meters, and so was quite small for a seventeen years old boy. As for the military man, he was probably 1.96 meters in height or more.Erix was quite stressed. It was something that was going to happen soon, a totally new life, so he was scared of the unknown. And as usual, he put his hands on the necklace. However, this time, only what he felt was his shirt's collar, not the inheritance from his parents."What! Where is it?!" Erix shouted and was ready to run back even though he knew it was impossible."We don't have time for that kid. Follow me now or you stay here. Your choice.""Si-" Erix wanted to plead further but beholding the overbearing look on the man's face, he reluctantly agreed and continued walking.'This is strange though.' Erix thought while walking.'Now that I think about it, I haven't seen it since this morning. Nor in the bathroom

After about twenty minutes of waiting, all nervous about how the test would go and at the same time a bit happy that his strength was no longer the same, at least not until he was exposed to sunlight again, he heard an announcement. "All recruits have arrived. Everyone, please head to the test area that corresponds to your group number." During the twenty minutes of waiting, each line was appointed as a group. So like this, Erix's group became the 8th group since they were the 8th in line if numbered from the left. Everyone was confused when they heard the announcement. They were currently in a foggy environment, so there was no way they would be able to find their way anywhere around there. Erix also had the same thought. However, they weren't able to linger on the thought for long, because their surroundings suddenly started to change. From the once foggy grey land, it turned into an ash-colored wasteland. The new arena was brightly lit up, unlike the foggy ground. There was

Erix paled in nervousness the very moment he heard his name. He started moving towards the test area with Shota tailing him closely, and with two other students behind his back. One was a black-haired boy who looked quite grumpy, and a girl with a cold expression. The girl had long red hair tied up into a ponytail that went down her waist. She wore an expensive-looking black dress with a long nape that covered her back. From her actions and expression, she seemed like the strong, talented, and confident rich type. She was really pretty compared to most girls, which even further boosted her ego. The test they needed to do was in this order; Strength, Agility, and lastly, Reflex. "Okay, you four, follow me," Leo said the moment the group arrived in the test area and the group compiled. He took them a little further into the field, though not away from the whole group. They followed Leo until they were standing not too far from multiple machines. Leo stopped suddenly and did a

In this type of society, those who didn't have abilities were seen as disposable people. They were at the bottom of the food chain and were frequently bullied by the strong. So when Leo said Erix didn't have any ability, the reaction of the group was mixed. Some had a disgusted look while some showed no visible reaction at all. Erix gulped down his saliva and stepped forward towards the test arena with a slightly lowered face to avoid seeing the look on other people's faces. However, even with his head low, he could still hear sneer sounds coming from the students standing not too far from their group. "Who the hell is this filthy trash?." "I think maybe he is one of those kids that became orphans after the war." "I won't be surprised if he scores below 50 points, haha." Ambry also began to laugh and trash-talk Erix. He was already doing it before, but for fear that he might be someone with strong ability, he managed to hold back. But now that he knew he didn't have any abili

The academy was situated at the center of a special city where those in the military could live. Like this, they could be able to do other stuff that wasn't fight-related, other things like running convenience stores and health care operations. The war was quite traumatizing for a lot of people so many wished to have a somewhat peaceful and normal life where they wouldn't have to bother about their safety. Because of this, the city was built to be large to accommodate such people. But before he could admire the futuristic city a little more, Erix needed to catch up with his group. They had already walked a lot when he was dayd

They both left the school and entered the city. It was a lot bigger than Erix's old city. The buildings there were at least 3 times the size of a normal building in his place and the street was a lot more crowded. As they explored the city, Erix noticed Shota was always looking around the place in shock like something he once knew but had changed. 'Wait, he said he knew the city more. How come? Has he been here before?' Erix thought. "Wow, this place has gotten a lot more developed than last time," Shota finally said, eyes still roaming the whole place. "Ehmm, if I may ask, how come you have been here before? I never knew some students managed to come here before now." Erix asked, even though he wasn't sure Shota would reply... Shota didn't answer immediately, he first let out a deep long breath before saying. Having heard the boy, the first thing Erix did was to check his level. His prior worries evolved into fear when he realized the boy was a level 4. The boy had blonde hair that fell past his collarbone. His blue eyes looked completely void with terrible black bags under them. He had a pair of headphones hung around his neck. "Hi, there? Why were you standing out there for so long?...... Anyway, I'm Ronin Shin, but you can call me Rin, and nice to meet you." Rin said as he pulled out his hand for a shake. Erix quickly accepted the handshake. He didn't want to make a bad first impression. Who knows, the boy might bully him more if he does. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry, please enter." Rin apologized as soon as he realized his wrongdoing. He quickly stepped aside to let Erix in. For the second time that day, Erix was shocked beyond measure. He had a mixed reaction. One was surprised and the other was amused. 'What the f**k is wrong with the high levels here? First was Shota and

"There is no need for that, Rin. I will always be there for him," Shota said with a straight emotionless face. His countenance changed the very moment he realized Rin was from Norxus clan. Why? Nobody knew. Erix was flabbergasted by their strong reaction. He did not expect his story to resonate with them so deeply. "Fine guys, I can take care of myself. You don't have to worry about me," Erix said, trying to calm them down. "If you ever get into a problem, and Shota isn't there, please do let me know. We are roommates now, or maybe friends if you don't mind," Rin said, wiping off invisible tears from his eyes. In Erix's mind, he was thinking the word friends was a huge stretch. He would consider them as on the 'not gonna bite soon' list at most. He'd yet to grasp if they were being truthful or not. For now, he will try to stay on their good side and see how things play out, never letting his guard down a bit. "I once said it, don't worry about him, I will always be there f

Lord Julian led Erix, Shota, and Orah up a grand staircase to the second floor of his regal mansion. The walls were adorned with paintings of famous battles and landscapes. Once they reached the top, he turned and gestured towards a door on the left."This will be your room," Lord Julian said. "I hope it'll suffice for your stay here."When they entered the room, they admired the room. The furniture was made from the finest wood on the planet and decorated with intricate engravings. There was a large three-poster bed, a vanity table with a mirror, and a fireplace to keep them warm during the colder nights.Shota nodded with admiration "It's habitable. Not bad."Orah examined the room carefully, old habits from his training, and started to make a list of any potential security risks. When he was finished, he said, "It's perfect. Better than that crappy rubbish from earlier."Lord Julian noticed the absence of Scott and raised an eyebrow. "Where is the servant goblin? Did he not wish to

The ruthless demon towered over the cowering goblin, its eyes glowing red in the dim light of the forest. The goblin had lost all of his comrades in the battle that had been raging for minutes and was now at the mercy of the demon that had led the attack."Please, spare me," the goblin pleaded, his voice trembling with fear. "I surrender."The demon let out a deep, thundering laugh. "Very wise of you, little goblin," Orah growled. "You have made the right choice. I will let you live. But there are consequences."Instead of killing the goblin, however, the demon did something unexpected. He looked the goblin straight in the eye and muttered words in a language the goblin did not understand.Suddenly, the goblin felt a strange sensation coursing through his body. He paled, but at the same time, a strange sense of loyalty blossomed within him. He looked up at Orah with wide eyes and suddenly realized what had just happened."You... you manipulated my mind just like your friend did with Ro

    Goblin servants.

Erix heaved a sigh when he heard what Orah said. Orah had deliberately spoken of the rebellion to give him no choice but to agree with his words, and it had really worked.Definitely, they wouldn't let the goblins go after learning of their plan for fear of being exposed. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean they must kill the goblins to silence them. There are other ways to silence them without actually killing them.As much as Erix had the urge to kill the goblins for the sake of exp, he didn't want to miss the opportunity to gain loyal servants who undoubtedly would bring more benefits than just the immediate gain of exp. Thus, instead of complying with Orah's appeal, he acted differently."No, we won't kill them. They'll be useful to us if we have them as servants. I don't want us to waste them by killing them," Erix told his friends."How are we going to tame these losers anyway? Go back?" Orah asked in a very low tone."These guys are armed. They are not like any other goblins we have encountered so far. Maybe we should leave before they see us," Erix asserted. In his opinion, he found it pointless to waste their strength fighting the goblins."Come on, it'll be fun to fight these losers. Only I can take them out at once," Shota said with excited eyes. However, seeing that none of his friends reciprocated this enthusiasm, he sighed and said, "Fine, if that's what you want, then... Ahhh!!!"
