Chapter 14

Begging was enough, besides Aromo was not ready to hurt Princess Damina and when she stood facing her where she knelt she asked her to be on her feet which she did and she walked closer to her and asked, "You know that your father wasn't good to me right?" Damina nodded with tears in her eyes.

"I heard you loved sex, you stopped?" asked Aromo but the Princess didn't answer, wondering how Aromo got to know about her sexual life. Could it be that Akiza was sharing what they had together with others behind her back? "Well" continued Aromo, "I would have you here with me but already you know that the plan is not to remain here but to take what belongs to these people from the man who took it from them. Here is Abumu and these people belong here" She moved outside and the Princess followed suit. They both stood at the entrance of the tent.

"It will soon get dark. I know you must be famished and so you need to eat" Aromo beckoned on one of the men and asked that Damina be served. As Damina ate her food her mind was running back and forth as she could not stop thinking about what had become of her In a short while. She however wasn't going to allow what Aromo did to go into the wind just like that; Aromo destroyed the life of the one she loved so much and she could not deny her feelings for Akiza. As she ate her meal she thought of many ways to end the life of Aromo.

The King of Abumu land wasn't pleased with his wife that night and he jumped of the bed and was almost smashing the jug of wine on the table when the wife shouted his name and covered her face with both hands. It was just then that it occured to the King that he wasn't going to have anything to do with his wife again. He had had enough of her excuses and he was going to find a maid in the palace that night and release himself from sexual hunger. The wife called his name once again and he turned. "I have a reason why I'm behaving this way" she cried.

"You fool, is this why I married you? I should have known. you are of no use to me if you can't satisfy my sexual appetite. You must be a fool to think I'm going to fall again for your cheap tears. Soon you will need to leave this palace after you remove that crown from your head" He angrily went away from her and walked into the chamber where the maids that were specially chosen to serve his wife were sleeping and he woke the three of them up and asked one of them to follow him. She followed him to the chamber where his wife was seated on the bed and crying and there he stood and commanded her to leave the room at once. The Queen looked up and saw her maid standing next to her husband.

"Are you the one the gods have chosen to take my place of death?" she asked the maid. Neither the King nor the maid understood what she meant by that but the King didn't care about all of that any longer. He was tired of the drama. Ever since he got married to his wife she had not for once allowed him to have her on his bed and this had generated alot of misunderstanding between the both of them until this night when the King decided he wasn't going to continue to take it from her and decided also to disgrace her infront of her own maid.

"You don't want to excuse us? Then you would want to watch us" The King grabbed the maid and the maid for the first time understood what the King was doing. She dared not refuse the King and so she succumbed, afraid at first until she began to enjoy the whole thing. The Queen remained seated on the bed with tears streaming down her face as she watched her husband making love with a common maid. The King suddenly stopped mourning because of a strange loud sound he heard. The maid heard it too and so did the Queen. Then the sound came again and it was followed by shouts and noises outside the palace building. It downed on the King that Intruders were forcing themselves into the palace compound. He immediately got up and his wife got up too. The maid ran back into her room and there she hid with the other two maids who had woken up to the heavy sound. The King unhung his sword and walked outside to see what he never expected, the gates had been smashed and he had recognized the Intruders to be the bandits of Abumu. He drew out his sword from his sheath and one of his generals ran up to him and advised him to stay back inside. The King refused to listen to him and the general had nothing else to do except to stand beside him against the hundreds of bandits streaming into the compound with their weapons. They first began to shoot arrows and the commanders in the palace retaliated immediately. Outside the compound was Aromo with Ralf and Princess Damina seated on their horses and watching the outcome of the invasion. Soon it downed on the King of Abumu that this surprise attack could claim his head if he did not send for the army of Abumu but to send for the army required time. He never expected this attack and his general knew that the best thing to do for his King was to force him to escape while he still could. He and some other commanders began to whisk him out of the scene against his decision. As they took the path to the back of the house to be able to escape through the fence they were greeted by yet another group that had laid in wait there. It downed on the generals and the King of Abumu that they needed to fight. They all began to fight and the battle was bloody. Outside the palace building Aromo was smiling while Princess Damina looked at her face and regretted not being able to get the opportunity she had been asking for and eliminate her life.

Queen Lume with her traveling companions found a permanent place to stay and they build a thatched hut there, cleared the bush around the hut and settled in it. After they settled they began to discuss. The Chief Guard was the first to talk.

"We have lost the rest that traveled with us, that escaped with us from the Akozo Palace Attack to the creatures of magic you had to scare off in that forest. I'm the Chief Security Officer in the palace of Akozo and here with me is my Queen. We need to know you better" At that point the Prophetess looked at the both of them and for a while it looked like she wasn't going to say a word but not until she raised her head up and looked directly into the sun then spoke as if she was speaking to the sun,

"I am alive today because of your Queen" she then brought her face down to look at Lume and continued, "Here is the woman that carries a child in her womb and she is not aware of the destiny of the one she carries but it is good that she knows and that is why I'm here; to enlighten her and to help her. Like I said before, I'm a Prophetess from the land of Dodo and it was because of me, because of his greed and inability to control his sexual feelings that the King of Dodo lost his kingdom to the hands of the mother of Akiza, step mother to your late husband. You see my dear I wouldn't be here but the gods said I must and here I am. I am in their hands and they do with me whatever they wish. Now that they have sent me to you it will please me to tell you why; you are no longer need to think of yourself as mere woman that is with child for the child you carry is my responsibility from now on. You have heard of terrible and evil things of this world, you have heard of the Sisters of Magic and you have heard of the Diadomas; the ancient people of Akove and when you hear of these things coupled with the evil Kings of this earth you wonder where man will escape to and be safe but you don't need to keep asking for solution when you already have one with you. All you have got to do is to stretch forth your hand and take it as it is and here it is with you. You already know too that ever since you became pregnant with this child you have not been experiencing her movements as a little baby is expected to in it's mother's womb. The child's stillness has nothing to do with a condition, it's not a problem but the child's silence is spurred by her ability to pick signals and learn"

"You refer to my baby as a she, my husband refers to it as a he, who then should I listen to?" asked Lume.

"Me, for I have been shown the baby by the god of the earth. I'm here to guard the baby and while I guard her with my supernatural powers your guard here will guard her with his sword. We are all together for a reason" The Prophetess then stopped talking for a while and started praying. When Lume's next question to her remained unanswered the Chief Guard reminded her that when Prophetesess pray they leave the earth realm and ascend to their own realms hence they won't be able to attend to matters of this world until they come back. Lume then laid down to rest and the guard adjusted her head. He walked away a bit.
